📌 Old Warden, Shuttleworth D-Day Weekend
📅 25th May, 2024
The Douglas C-47 Skytrain or Dakota (RAF designation) is a military transport aircraft developed from the civilian Douglas DC-3 airliner.
The D-Day Squadron is leading it's 2024 Legacy Tour, across the Atlantic with an American fleet of 6 restored C-47 and DC-3 variant World War II military aircraft. They will be joined by more Skytrains and Dakotas from Europe to commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day and the 75th anniversary of the Berlin Airlift at sites throughout the UK, France, Germany and Italy.

89 year old design, it still looks modern.
Beautiful sight and sound.
Great Video , I seen them at the Fly over the Hudson River in New York when the D-Day Squadron began there journey here in New York (Dutchess County)
It was a great day yesterday & you've captured it well !
Thank you!
This is an absolutely fabulous video. Thank you! ❤👍✈️👏👏
Great video
40yrs since I last flew in a DC3,this brought back happy memories of the trip in G-AMPO that's now static at Aldershot Barracks.
Great video I also visited and filmed on the same day Shuttleworth did a great job👍
Very interesting, brought back memories for me as I was Ground Crew/Engineer on one in England 40 years ago.
Love this! Saw them off at Oxford.
How wonderful. Let's hope R4D will make it in time✈️🤞
I was supposed to fly with them before they left and couldn’t. I’m rooting for them!
@@pinchus34 Oh, goodness!! It seems so unfair after all their preparation. I'm rooting for them too! ✈️❤️
Agreed and they’re all such nice people too.
I saw these fly by a music festival I was at on Saturday morning, heading there from N Weald I guess
takes me back to my time at shutts from 1976-1979. caroline
Amazing video mate. Do you know when the European based aircraft will arrive at North Weald airfield
I'm not sure, but I know they will be doing practice parachute drops at the end of the week, so maybe middle of this coming week?
@@Biggsy do you know how many Dakota's are coming in from Europe?
@@LiamWard-nd2jy The D-Day Squadron has the planned group. It is meant to be 10, 2 from America are still to arrive, 1 from Switzerland and 3 from UK, but at least 1 of the British planes won't be ready in time I heard
@@Biggsy thanks. Night fright might not be ready in time.
@@Biggsydo you what day the European Dakota's are coming to North Weald.
