Was gifted this by my family and been doing my research… this is the best video I’ve watched so far. Thank you for the review and your honest opinions. I’m having fun with this controller and might purchase the Serato Pro 😬
Great review, I'm just starting this as a hobby and brought the "Party Mix" to play around with. You really explained all of the knobs and functions which helped me out a lot. Once I perfect my craft and show much improvement I will think about getting this but I have a ways to go
I can always count on your approval. Got the Pro FX the other day because I thought the platinum jog wheels were heavier but after trying both it wasn't much of a difference. Returned it and got the platinum fx instead. They are heavy but not that bad imo. The jog screens are great and much more useful than those marks on the Pro Fx and can be used to do simple juggles. If anybody is on the fence, get the Platinum not the Pro
Got that free Sarato dj plug from plugin bouquet idk what its really for well I kinda understand maybe later in the future I'll play around with it this seems cool tho for dj music producer's 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Thank you. I bought mine second hand and I'm a beginner I can't seem to figure out the rewind button it doesn't always take me to the start for some reason
People buy 250$ controller and call cons and gripes because they don’t get SRT features. The companies want you to upgrade, so they will deliberately give less.
You want to be that guy ehhhh... Ok let's talk about it. For starters, people don't like the SRT because it's a 4 channel controller! Not every DJ like 4 track controllers but they enjoy the jog wheels.. People don't like the SR because it does have the jog wheel with the display. So what does Pioneer release? A damn 2 channel controller w/ a display for REKORDBOX!! The Pioneer DJ DDJ-800 isn't what people wanted... Not to mention, This controller fit's in a bag.
Yeah, something so basic as that little notch on the center of the pitch controls should had been standard. I tried putting a thin slice of tape where the notch should be to create friction, but the pitch control slider is too heavy to notice the resistance. And yeah, the platters are too heavy for any serious scratching. But for all the positives, I think this is a great deal for the price.
Cool lil controller. You get a lot for what it’s priced at. But what kills me is why this doesn’t have more audio outputs? Even the first Native Instruments Traktor Control S4 has all the outputs that a DJ could want... and that came out 10 years ago. Comparing it to pioneer gear, it just seems like a slightly upgraded DDJ SR & a slightly downgraded DDJ SX in terms of everything else except audio out
Aaron Hall the S4 cost way more (it was $700 brand new). I/O is hardly an issue for me unless we’re talking about the mic jack. It sounds good but doesn’t link to the effects.
I am learning to DJ the DDJ-400, mostly hip hop. Having to look at my computer screen is not ideal for scratching. Would the screens and larger platters be much better for me? I hear mixed reviews, that the screens have lag, and the platters are a bit heavy for scratching.
How can i hook it up to some old home theater speakers? They have the traditional red and black speaker inputs. HELP! & I want to add in my subwoofer as well
Would the “heavy jog wheels” be something that would affect someone who has never use this device before?? 🤔 Also, I noticed on a lot of these DJ controllers, the Jog wheels don’t spin when the music is playing or when a DJ is scratching! Why is that?? Is that standard, or is that a function you can turn on and off?
I am researching as a person who never DJ'd. But, I thought the heavier wheel was a good feature. Why do you not like it? I had old turntables that had some heavy platters. But again, I am seriously just getting into this.
It really depends on how they feel to you. Heavier jog wheels can be better for your beat matching because they are less likely to go too far ahead of the song you're trying to mix. Lighter jog wheels are preferred for their ability to scratch and manually applying a backspin on a track.
Yeah thats true good controller but when hercules release there new controller.. hope this controller fx they put some more input.. but no doubt this is good item.. tnx for the review
Yeah I saw the Hercules DJ controller with the extra aux in (which is nice). Aesthetically, I don't like the build of the Hercule Impulse 800 do to it's size but it at least gives you value.
$100 used laptop, $120 used Numark platinum fx, $20 sony headphones, Mixxx DJ software - free. total 240$ full setup. Honestly one can rent fancy gear if needed when needed. less time working and buying, more time mixing and playing will lead to better music, there's no way to buy skill.
Question. Can the pads or buttons be mapped to do something else? Fader cuts is totally useless and I'd love to map that to a slicer or something. Is that possible?
What are u crazy 😳 the ddj way more advance than this way more effects the screen on the ddj blows this thing away by far u basically saying this is better than the ddj 1000. The 800 is 2 decks instead of 4 give me what ur 🚬
@@donaldccannon1 I agree the DDJ 1000 is great , used to have it but wasn't a Rekordbox fan! The 800 is a waste of money in comparison! So I'd rather the Numark & have money to buy more 🚬🙏!
Hay Man I feel you hella real! Thank you for making me feel good about getting this one man. i had a pioneer i just bought 3 days ago and didnt like it cause it didnt have the ability for 4 decks. i havewnt plugged mine in yet but cant wait to see how that works.. Also can you map out your own effects? love the digital read out on the jog wheels. im heavy handed so the weight works out perfect for me... im going to be using virtual DJ What do you like about serato?
Great video! I have a Mixtrack Platinum (og) and while I love most things about it, my biggest issue is that the plastic covering the display screens is EXTREMELY soft and prone to getting scratched; like seriously, you can do heavy damage with just an errant fingernail. Does the Mixtrack FX have the same issue?
TheLeftHandOfCreation the jog wheel feels “stable” and metallic. It’s good Numark adopted this form factor but the old build was too abstract for my taste.
Nice vid man 👍 I was wondering if you could help me with something please 🙏, when I plug my numark platinum fx to serato Dj pro it does not do anything but it works perfectly fine with lite, I already own serato pro but like I said it does not anything when I connect it to the pro version, is there a solución to this or how did you do it, please help 🙏
Which Microphone did you use with this controller i mean the one with extra power like shure or just a simple dynamic microphone as the extra power are with xlr port
Why's he calling the pitch slider a pitch bend? Pitch Bend is different from Pitch, see those plus and minus buttons under the Pitch? that's the pitch bend.
lets see if their full kill!!!! i don have to check anything in VDJ i can choose full kill or not i have this controller already supported in vdj i tried serato. Beautifull useless graphics lack of features typical mac serato djing
Unfortuntely the crossfader looks like its the same as the origina numark platinum so if you scratch lots expect a short 3 month expiry before it bleeds so bad youneed to disable fader in serato .. or because of no easy access to change crossfader yourself unless your trained at soldering de soldering on circuit boards it becomes an expensive paperweight sitting in corner of room ..
Agree. Numark has made fantastic entry level controllers for years.... But it gets let down by cheap faders which fail and are unfortunately soldered to the main board. I have personally experienced this on 3 Numark controllers...
Yes my question is is badass numark because I may have him moving controllers movie on other cities I've been using for the rest of my life is good to know to mix that because harder when you learning you pull your beats very great and that's why you became more better DJ when you use numark not like the pioneer or the other track their easy that's idg play concerts or r&b concerts do you know why because it being not using the right controller to mix that's when they make money why because it's easy to control the pioneer is not doing nothing either that's why I've been going to concert they or fake most DJ they don't know how use a real controller that's why your house. I just picked up one of these, can't wait to get it.
aaaaaaye
After this time, what do you think of the controller is it good quality? Because in my experience numark broke after a while
@@markusz1853 yeah so far it's pretty good and sturdy. My last controller was a Numark Mixtrack 2, and the Platinum FX is much better.
I'm so jealous. Lol. I paid close to a 1k for my n6 ii. I'm looking into this one.
I remember when I original got a Behringer BCD 2000. Then Numark starter killing the game with their controllers.
Damn
N6ii has a better mixer and balanced outputs.

I had the same problem. We're you able to sort it out?
How's the soundcard on the FX in comparison to the SB3?
Well basically the FX are software driven. So it depends on your laptop. The built-in interface is decent. I'm not blown away but I'm not mad either.
