the horse I ride rn is a friesian x quarter horse. her name is dixie but i don’t think she would go good in a neck rope. maybe a halter but that’s basically just a bitless bridle which she had to use for a while before we could get a bit in her mouth
I would suggest using just a halter with reigns that are fairly long, as well as a neck rope. When you want to turn, pull the reigns and the rope, but don't do that every time, just use the neck rope sometimes. she should associate them to mean the same thing. Hope this helps!!
@@localplaguedoctor thank you so much! I sadly left that barn and her about 2 months ago. It’s been a hard move but now I’m training a 7 year old green horse that I will try this with later on. Thanks for the advice it’s very helpful :)
@@localplaguedoctor yes they ar. Dixie was green when I started with her but now I’m moving on. I can’t wait to try a neck rope with him
I really want to do this but I would fall off when my gelding started trotting or lopeing😂

I really wanna try free riding but Ik for sure my horse wouldn’t respond to the rope :,( but it looks really relaxing :)
Teach him/her to respond to seat with bridle and then I think it would work🥰
Well, the rope is mostly to guide the horse. To make it respond you have to kick, or use leg! And if you want to turn, pull both left and right rein/rope to inside of the direction if that makes since! Hop this help, if not it’s ok :)
I still think riding without a padding for the back (not necessarily a saddle) is more harmful and can cause back problems.

I think the intro is amazing but it says " f it " and umm😅😅
Love the video, it's great to see that more and more people find out that a bridle is not always necessary but at the same time.... riding with a neck rope isn't what I would call free riding.... more like.. halfway there.
Well, this whole compilation was just for things in that area.
