Alec your creativity and skill never cease to amaze me
good to see the new machines are being put to use.
As with most of your videos - very nice, and fun to watch your builds of all kinds.
here for the 60 seconds:Amazing videos, I have been blacksmithing for around a year now and your content has been inspirational and motivational for all of my projects. Loving the daily videos, keep up the awesome content 😉
Hey Alec, for someone that doesn't know much about the milling machine, it seems that you're doing great!
Gotta get excited when alec Steele posts a video
best UA-cam channel for content
always love watching everything you make
You initially regretted that purchase and now look at you go mate! well done
I'm a blacksmith that's 14 years old and from PA usa. I love your videos!!! I hope you have a happy holiday season! I work at a local farm show forging at a shop about 3 times a year and start my forge whenever I can. I've only been forging for 2 years. but I love it! I love the steel that you make, I have way too much trouble welding on my little coal forge! x )
Keep up the inspirational vids. The yanks across the pond love the content
Your uploads make my day!!!
Awesome video Alec! Good to see you put that mill to use.
Your cleaver looks amazing!
Great work Alec! The guys from Louisiana and Mississippi love your videos
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! Love the video keep it up Alec.
I can't wait for the cleaver!
Woohoo! New video. Awesome as always Alec. My first forge should be done soon. Can't wait to start.
Thanks for all of the videos!
Alec, that blue stuff is called Prussian Blue. I worked at a machine shop and the machinists used it to show scrib lines like threads or when they needed to do layouts.
Hey finally got here in time had to put down my 3.5 square circle hammer to write this....great video Alec !!!
Alec, I have been watching your videos since well forever and it has been great to see you grow up as a human but also a smith. Every time I watch one of your videos I just get that uncontrollable urge to go forge something your enthusiasm inspires me! I am in the process of establishing my shop and my life because I spent the majority of it being sick with Lyme disease but over time it has gotten better and my skills at the forge have grown thanks to your great spirit and hard working I can proudly say I am on my way. Thank you Alec greetings from Michigan and I hope to take one of your classes soon! Cheers
+MiOutDoorsHuntFly FishTrap&Blacksmithin Thank you Sir. I am thrilled to be able to be providing you value through these videos! I wish you every success and the best of health!
Alec Steele thank you again and especially for the kind words keep up the good work lad
Once again, what a cool video! I love the different types of Damascus patterns you are producing! It looks like a very creative and fun process! One thing that I really like about your recent videos is the footage of the new forge. I love how it is kinda in slow mo, and you have a filter on that makes the flame of the forge look so cool! Can't wait for tomorrows video!
Those new machines look proper useful and fun. hope your enjoying figuring then out, cant till i have a shop big enough for some.
hey alec love your stuff and all the skills you show are ones i strive for in my shop keep up the great work
Fun and learning at the same time. Great combination. Young man, you continue to amaze me with your totally positive, upbeat attitude. Looking forward to your next video. Thank you and have a great day.
Woohoo I'm part of the club!!!!
Great work again as always. Keep up the hard work!
Aaaannnnddd I'm going to start working on an attachment like this ASAP. Thanks for all the great content, Alec, and looking forward to seeing you in January.

looks awesome, always wondered about those
Another great video as always!!
Cant wait to watch this one
Lovin the machining vids 👍🏻
Love your videos alec!!!
awesome videos! Alec!
Good job! Alec
wicked the thought of making your own parts is pretty damn cool
The steel you work with stole my heart. ;)
Awesome! As always another great video!
Sweet! Need one
Love your videos they are such an inspiration I make blades and almost exclusively till I watched some of your videos
deffinitly like how when u need something you figure out how to make it instead of just buying it. great job
Also thank you so much for all your videos they continue to inspire me to improve my smithing skills. (Oh and a really big thanks to the "how not to die in your shop" video I was kinda blissfully unaware of the not so obvious dangers
Alec Steele no thank you. Cancer and hearing loss are two things I'd rather avoid if at all possible
lets bust alec up though the algorithm
awesome alec!
love the videos alec!!!
can you do a video on your belt grinder? im looking at revamping mine, and need some ideas... how does your tracking work?
Alec rocks!!!
pretty sweet shop..
Cool. Need a tool, make a tool. The tooling may have cost more than the part you made, but now you have the tooling for future projects and the part for the belt grinder. Well done.
Hey Alec , great video ! just received the hammer i ordered from you and wanted to say thanks ! beautiful work
My pleasure Alec , i recommend this hammer to anyone who doesn't own one !
That's dope man 👌👌😘😘
Hope to see more classes :D
Love it
I'm in!
Nice! Can't wait to watch it 🤘
I have the same mentality as you. I'd rather spend the $ on tools to make something myself than buy it already-ready-already. Keep up the good work!
love the vid
Cool video. Now I need a mill and lathe also
thank you for the video man
nice work
You are such an awesome young man. You shoud get a name as a super hero like steelman or forgeman. Just keep up. Realy enjoying watching your videos.
Now we see why fabrication and blacksmithing are complementary skills
awesome!!!
i like your videos!
Your vids are cool👌🏾
have you considered using the mill to make perfectley (or close to) flat tops on your anvils? If so would love to see it
Awesome
Hey Alec, I was wondering if you could give us a little advice on Belt Grinders. I'm thinking of grabbing one and I'd love to hear what you have to say about them ! Thanks for all the videos Alec !
Hey Alec, I really enjoy watching your videos. I also wanted to make sure that you were planning on greasing those bearings since they don't appear to be caged aka sealed ball bearings and a bit of lubrication maintenance every few months is better than hunting for parts to those high dollar machines. I've never been around any machines like that before but I'd have to guess that they would have some grease fittings near most of their moving parts (pistons, axles, etc.).
I'm hoping you just cleaned the bearings up for the sake of presentation in the video and filmed the dry fit portion of the process. I love your videos and would hate for you to have to have something expensive replaced when some quick lube maintenance could've prevented it. Keep up the good work!
Hey, Alec! Hope all is well!
Just received my "where's my hammer" shirt. fast delivery, awesome shirt. if you did not get one....too bad for you! send me a present!
Yeah. Got it in quick enough?
very good as usual alec
also just wanted to say that your videos constantly inspire me to do more and better things in blacksmithing, your enthusiasm is very infectious.
That's impressive mate! :) out of interest what spec bearings did you choose? The smaller the wheels the faster they spin/bugger up!
awesome! o
Hey how did you make your makes mark is it just a chisel thx Alex
I have liked your recent machining videos. Some day I hope that I will be able to obtain the equipment to make a shop where I can create pretty much anyrhing. Right now all I have is a forge, anvil, and one of your hammers (which arrived today).
I'm trying to make a good grinder for a Christmas present to myself do you have any designs that you would recommend I would really appreciate the help
Merry Christmas Alec, how many smiths does it take to change a lightbulb?
With that small wheel does that mean evil hollow-grinds ?! I would DIG to see you do a damascus straight razor !
On that note. Go wet shaving! :P It's cheaper, much much! better and it goes to eleven! I wouldn't trade some of my straights for anything.
Please consider making one Alec!
If it's needed I'll volunteer to hone it ;) I'm just kidding, It's not certain I would be able to send it back.
Straights with the American flag or Union Jack damascus would sell faster than you could imagine! especially the American wet shaving community is really big !
That would be great for making fullers
Just got the notification LOL oh well
sweet grinder!!! where do you get your belts from in the uk?????
just wanted to say I like your work and you can really move some steel around and wanted to ask if you have ever thought of making western spurs
Yeah UA-cam notifications never work Alec :( but I loved that drill bit for your Bridgeport. All of that for some bearings? Ahaha far out
hey mate, what belts do you use for the grinder and what company do you use for the belts :)
Hey Alec how is it in the U.K? Thanks for all the vids!!
What types of sand paper do you use?
nice
Good to see the new machinery coming into play again, Alec. Looks like the lathe and the mill are going to pay off well in the long run, even if it takes a while to see a profit in them. (But you already knew that... you haven't gotten this far by making foolish or uninformed business decisions.)
To be honest, it actually occurred to me the other day, watching you talk about how much the bladesmithing side of things has caught your interest now, that you would probably be utilizing your newest toys before long to make some mods and upgrades to that belt sander. Guess I was right.
Next? Well, a nice 8" or 10" wheel on there is really great for doing hollow grinds... LOL
well, it' a nice mill machine, hey, in your videos where you make some steel, why you don't try to put a layer of titanium and see if this work well? would be interesting meking something like this
gifts and joy and stuff !?
What size bearings did you use on that roller?
good video just wondering why the bearings weren't turning , are they old or stuck or was there a problem needed to be addressed?
Hi Alec!
Watching your videos recently has inspired me to start doing some forging. My brother has been making knives for a little while, so he has helped me with a lot of the basics, but I have a couple of questions for you: Firstoff, when you use the flat end of your hammer, how do you avoid leaving a mark in the metal if you don't hit it perfectly flat? Secondly, the anvil we use does not have a round horn. Do you have any ideas on how to evenly curve steel without a horn? I was thinking we might be able to use some kind of hardy hole tool... Keep up the great vids!
-Jason Zevenbergen (Seattle, Washington, U.S.A.)
alec, just curious why you took so many small cuts to mill the bearing slot. it looks like the bearings fit nice 'n' snug but is there any concern of that piece flying off in the event of a belt break? I look forward to your videos all the time. thank you
Please sell the grinder we just saw.. Love it
yeah, I'll order mine from flea bay
Was this quick enough for a witty an interesting comment. Love your stuff Alec.
