When you are in SoCal again go to the Temecula Assistance League Thrift Shop in Temecula (SW Riverside County). It is a converted bowling alley and is huge.

Another option in Temecula is the Discovery Thrift Store. Although some pricey items, but also some treasures. They have special color tag sales which helps. It's only a "boutique" size store, but probably the.most.beautiful thrift store I've ever been in.

All Goodwills in SD county have increased their prices in the last couple of years. Most of them price their items like EBay or even higher. However they always miss a couple of items that you can take for profits.
Agreed!!!! I stopped going to goodwill here in SD, I prefer the small ones or amvets. I see UA-camrs finding stuff at their goodwill and I’m like NOT HERE IN SAN DIEGO!!! lol
I live in San Diego county and don't go to Goodwill anymore because of the high prices.
It’s like that for me now too. Only times I find myself at Goodwill are grand openings and 1/2 off days
Thrifting in so cal sucks. Your best option is the swap meet.

Goodwill in socal have changed alot. They have hired influencers to go through incoming inventory for $20 an hour pay to separate the high end from mall brands and to do pricing as well. Even the bins are higher $3.18lb which makes the items almost the price of the items in the store.

@@tycetycebaby this position is actually about a year old. I remember seeing a job posting for it. They also have sorters for certain bins locations. Long Beach is one of them that I know for sure. It’s better to go to the smaller thrifts or swap meets.
Downtown SD Goodwill has some of the best clothing but also the most expensive store. I don’t even go there anymore. I’ve pickup at all the stores on your list.

Salvation Army in Sports arena blvd is usually my go to. They run sales and don’t individually price clothing.

I've noticed Amvets tend to be a the best price points, and some larger local thrifts tend to have the most hidden gems, but San Diego has so many pickers, and higher prices. Still Possible to make some profit in these stores though, you just have to be consistent!

Dude, we thrift in San Diego every week and have amazing finds. My car is loaded every week, even from Goodwill. I think maybe you are stuck in your own little nitch of what you feel safe selling and don't have enough knowledge base to make the great finds outside your area of comfort. Yeah clothes are more expensive, the DVD racks suck, but there are so many other things you can sell on ebay than what you are looking at! Electronics, kitchen items, toys, and on and on...
I love finding all kinds of stuff and San Diego has been in the bottom two of all the places I’ve visited so far. I even went to the new bins downtown and struggled considering. Probably was an off day 🤷🏼♂️

I’ve found some great shoes at that Amvets and some pretty good clothes at Goodwills in east county.
That first Goodwill you hit in SD is actually probably the worst one in the whole county. They think that because they’re near downtown it’s - idk - tourists that are gonna wander in there and pay those insane prices? I’ve never bought a single item there. There actually *are* a couple of really excellent Goodwill’s in SD that I hit every time I visit; none of the ones Reddit directed you to are among them.

I do a lot of my shopping at the Goodwill in Hillcrest San Diego. It's an LGBT community and the clothes are all high end and the workers don't know the value of the stuff. It's a gem! 👍

I thought the East Coast was expensive but this is just ridiculous. From everything I hear, San Diego's a great city, but they really need to step up their thrifting game.

Aw man. There is another store nearby the Verterans store. They get most of their stuff from auctioned off stored units. Converse. 👍🏽

San Diego is so oversaturated with resellers that's why. You went to the basic stores. There are so many other stores in San Diego to shop.

I'm embarassed for my city, but my opinion is, our bins are better here because the Goodwills here are absolutely absurd with their pricing so everything ends up there. There was one only a block away from the downtown Goodwill you hit up and it's very chill, not a crazy free for all like in most cities! :(
