There was nothing evil about Truman. He just wrote about what he knew. And what he knew was that his role as the court jester for all these wealthy women and their errant husbands - would be brief. They used him, and the moment when he revealed some of them to be as vacuous as they really were, they crucified him. And in the process ruined his novel which would have been epic. He was a great writer.
