The fact you guys not only saw the lighthouse. You saw one of the most majestic animals in the world. Seeing them in the open ocean while being free always brings tears to my eyes. Especially, how they're treated at Seaworld. Thank you for this wonderful video.
My brother just moved to the pacific northwest 2 years ago. He sent me pictures of him kayaking with orcas. Y'all are so blessed. One day it will be my turn!
I was lucky enough to see a pod of 20+ orcas and a breaching humpback whale in Juneau, Alaska along with swimming with a humpback whale in Skagway and it probably will always be my dearest memory :) the Pacific Northwest is magical ✨
Just a heads up for anyone booking orca tours… The constant hum of the motor is actually extremely loud underwater and totally jacks up their ability to hunt… (there are major legal disputes for environmentalists in the PNW trying to fight whale watching tours.) Especially following them in the water for 20 minutes+ when people do that day in and day out it makes the orcas waste so much energy while their food supply is already low. :/ please book kayak tours or engine friendly tours. Orcas are a treasure that should be preserved & respected.
Thanks for your lovely video of San Juan Island! Have watched other travel videos of SJI and this is the one I really liked...you two are fun, silly, exuberant, appreciative and down to the earth. .. Keep doin what you're doin guys and be safe doin it! wooohoooo! p.s. Lancelot (Lance) is the name of the fox. we're neighbors. I live across from the parking lot where you met him. ... he's a flirt....
Thank you SO much for the kind words, this really means a lot! Glad you enjoyed the video! And lol good to know about Lancelot.. he definitely was not shy!! ☺️☺️
I love the way you guys say "we dont want to be greedy". I said that when we saw The Northern Lights. Jess I also go nuts over beautiful rocks, wood and shell :) Great video!
I was in Colombia recently and wanted to whale watch on the Pacific but missed it due to its remoteness, difficulty and expense. I live in CA so road tripping to Washington seems like an easy alternative! And its Orca's!
This brings back so many memories. One of the first things I always talk about is hearing them breathe because I had rented a cottage very close to lime kiln state park and as I got out of the car one day I heard orcas breathing and so I took off running down to the water so that I could see them. I will say when I was there last in 2018 we were also following orcas but we were allowed to go into Canadian waters to follow them.
That is so cool! We felt the same way when we first heard their breath at sunrise... it was so unexpected and exciting! Really appreciate you watching our video, thank you for the comment! 😍
This was a helpful video in planning the trip to take my five year old.... Suggestion you may edit down some of the background music when you're watching the pods swim so we can hear the sound of them breathing, it's majestic and your viewers, while you give them an amazing capture of the beauty of the SanJuans, miss this beautiful sound.
Channel islands National Park had humpback whales and lots of dolphins. We did a boat tour of Anacapa island from Ventura County Harbor and it was awesome, especially being from sea less Southern Arizona. We do have beautiful forests in our nearby mountains and plenty of black bears but no flying purple orca.
Which whale watching tour did you take ? Going on Alaskan cruise but waiting until we return to Seattle for whale watching. Orcas in the wild has been on my bucket list.
New to your channel as a subscriber. My mind is blown how incredibly blessed you have been on so many awesome sightings of orcas foxes bears mt goats snow & sun in Yosemite. Still watching to see if any other firsts!!
This looks amazing!! I am planning my summer vacation right now and I will definitely do with my son. Getting the early boat was a huge tip. Were there other boat visits you that might able to recommend for a mom on a budget?
Thanks for watching! The boat trip we took was unfortunately pretty expensive.. I think it was around $250 for the 2 of us. But there are some spots on the island that are good for seeing whales from the shore and the island has so much to offer and is definitely still worth the visit even without the whale watching boat trip!
Looking at the speed of the orcas & them swimming in groups, it is no way they are healthy and normal at Sea World!! This was Majestic!! My Dream To See Some In The Wild. My Spirit Animal 🐋🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
Hey! I’m coming to San Juan island from the UK for the very first time! We are hoping to stay on Orcas Island… where would you recommend staying and where is the nearest airport? ☺️
We didn't actually stay on the island, we just went to San Juan Island as day trip. I am not sure about Orcas Island specifically but I wish we would have spend a night or 2 on San Juan Island, just to have more time and not be as rushed to see everything. As far as the airport.. looks like Seattle is pretty close so that is probably your best bet. :)
thank you fro share, you make me cry with Orcas on sunrise,,what's ferry company the use to cross to island ?I need car in the island ?o just walking its enough ?Thanks
How far is the Cattle Point Lighthouse from the parking lot???I use a wheelchair so my husband would have to carry me to it. Please let me know ♥️ thank you!
I need to go there and take a whale watching boat! My one whale watch didn't work out so well. It was in Monterey Bay and it was five hours. There were huge swells the whole time and so I was basically vomiting every 15 minutes for the full five hours! It was a huge boat that was packed with people and they were jammed up against the railing all the way around the boat. I was lucky to get a spot at the railing, but the people next to me were jammed up against me on both sides. It was totally embarrassing having to vomit with people right next to me. We saw a few whales but they were a long ways away. I really want to try again - next time I'll get a prescription patch for motion sickness. Also would love to try a small boat with fewer people like you did!
@@WaypointofView how did you book it for just 2 people? Online it looks like it only allows booking for the whole boat whether we have 6 people or 2, price is still the same. Hope im making sense. Thanks! Really enjoyed your video!
Hello! Great video! What is the name of the boat/company you used to follow the Orcas? I also would rather be in a small group than a large whale watching boat.
I'm looking into booking a whale watching tour and really liked the one you chose. Is he in San Juan or Anacortes? Would I need to cross on the ferry to get there? Planning ahead so I don't miss the tour.
Mid June - Mid Sept are the warmest months. A large part of the population here is seasonal. They arrive in mid to late spring and leave late summer/early fall. 70-80 degrees is the average in summer though 80 is rare. Drops to mid 50's in the evening. Daylight starts to fade around 10-10:30pm so there is plenty of time to explore. Beyond blessed to be living in paradise!
They’re bigg’s killer whales. They do not have the variation in saddle patches as residents and their dorsal fins are more pointier as seen in the video.
This is my perception of Killer whales: Friendly, kind and gentle towards non-intrusive people who respect them in the wild whereas aggressive and vicious when disturbed, threatened or in captivity. When I approach a pod of wild orcas on a kayak, they will not attack me, they will just swim peacefully past me
More like bigg’s killer whales. As seen in the video their dorsal fins are more pointed and straight compared to the rounder fins of the residents. They have closed saddle patches whereas residents often range from open hook, notch and sometimes closed saddle patches.
Hello! Former whale watch naturalist of many years here ;) This pod was not part of the endangered southern residents (J, K, L pods), but instead Biggs Killer whales or transients. They are mammal eaters, where residents eat only fish and almost exclusively chinook or king salmon. So glad you guys enjoyed your time on San Juan!
MY EYE IS ON THE PRIZE.......For ALL this BS!!! I DON'T want to move to ANY OTHER PLACE on the ENTIRE PLANET. *WITH or WITHOUT the objective NEVER changes.

Thank you so much for watching! It is definitely not lost on us how fortunate we were to see Orcas not just once but twice on this day!! 😍😍
This is my LITERAL dream come true. I want to witness this beautiful animal in its natural habitat so badly I have dreams about it.
Thanks so much for watching!
Billy have u ever seen a bird their in there habitat
Then you most definitely will. The San Juans are a fantastic place to see them, as is Vancouver Island in Canada.
Saw a couple in the space of 3 weeks in Monterey. Absolutely majestic
I get you
My brother just moved to the pacific northwest 2 years ago. He sent me pictures of him kayaking with orcas. Y'all are so blessed. One day it will be my turn!
Oh wow, how cool would it be to kayak with them!! Thanks for watching!
Kayaking with orcas? Ya white folks are crazy!!!

Thanks for the heads up. Probably boat/ferry to an island then kayak from there I'd guess
That is an awesome part of our shared continent! I've seen - and heard - a pod of Orcas. It's something I'll never forget. Love the west coast. 👍🇨🇦😎🌿🌊
This is on my bucket list. She’s like me… super excited in nature… even fascinated with the rocks. Lol I do the same thing.
The moment you said "a 3 hour tour" the Gilligan's island theme song got stuck in my head for the rest of the day. Thanks!
😂😂
Glad you enjoyed the place I call home. All wildlife here are very friendly.

We were very lucky indeed!! 😍😍

So cool. Keep traveling homies!
Such beautiful majestic animals, They dont deserve to be in prisons for our amusement
They really are beautiful animals! 😍

I love seeing beautiful orcas in their natural habitat and not in some small tank for human enjoyment. Truly amazing.
Couldn't agree more!
We saw that same red fox last time we were at Cattle Point on San Juan Island.
In my country there are several excellent spots to see whales
They are called Mc’donalds
Beautiful place. Definitely on my bucket list

When did you visit San Juan, which month in a year? You guys were so lucky to see a pod!
This was end of September, 2020! ☺️
I'm here after Oversimplified's vidio but this place looks rather appealing

I literally just moved to Olympia, Wa from Louisiana. Lol I’m definitely going whale watching!
Wow, awesome video! Thank you for sharing! Do you mind telling me what company you hired for the Orca watching?
Of course! It was www.spiritoforca.com ☺️ Thanks for watching!

So you said you quit your jobs to do this full-time... would you mind sharing what your main source of income is?
The video was fun and informative.
How did that fox get on the island
Great video. We def need to go there
Thanks so much for watching!

Hi! Thanks so much for watching! We went through Spirit of Orca and can highly recommend! spiritoforca.com ☺️

This was San Juan island and yes you need to take a ferry to get there.
So epic!!🙌🖤
Thanks so much for watching!
Very nice video. What month was the video taken? I wonder if summer months still cool on the islands?

I gotta go see them ocras... 😀😀😀
Grooving ducks dulcimer capsicum
Those are Jpod so beautiful and so endangered unfortunately.. now in 2022 boats aren't aloud to go near the resident Orcas..

Funny how they kept calling them “whales” when they are dolphins 🤣
All dolphins are whales but not all whales are dolphins ;)
