I used to do this same job in SALEM V.A. at BRAD RAGAN GOOD YEAR was the best job i ever had you would not believe what i have pulled out of some of those tires WHAT A FUN JOB I really miss it
Doug Crockett I blew out new tire on the left front, had a hula hoop balancer on it. 60 miles away from tire shop on interstate 55 tire blew at 60 mph found the tire shops 8# hammer inside. Shop said it wasn’t theirs ,after i walked out one employee coming back from lunch met me at the door and happily exclaimed hey where did you find my hammer.
I wish they took that same kind of care with regular truck tires for regular rigs. Kuddos to the heavy machinery guys taking care of those tires properly. Im sure not all stay together but highly doubt they blow as much as regular truck tires.
So true, I could sit at that tire plant all day and I can guarantee you not one employee bumps their hands together, they shake hands like any red-blooded American!
When he was standing in the doorway of the pressure chamber I was thinking the same thing. The forklift operator should of refused to move until he was out of that potential pinch-point.
@@j.fabela1748 well i hope at least it has airbags. Imagine the inertia your body picks up driving in one of those. (Just kidding, i know the danger is you falling out of the seat and thus safety frame and getting crush. They probably should pull straws to see who has to tell the boss things, like about safety, and how he looks like a dork running on the side of the pressure chamber.
A good certified forklift operator would never leave his forklift parked with the boom tilted back and the forks raised. He also didn't use the seat belt. FIRED !!!
"Certified" forklift operator who doesn't use his seat belt, doesn't give a signal before coming in the door, and walks away from the lift with the load still suspended. Oh yeah, and forklift operator "certification" or "licensing" isn't really a thing.
Wolf Fortright I'm the safety coordinator for the company I work for. OSHA and CalOSHA both require that operators be "trained" and "evaluated" by a "competent" source. No certification is required.
Juan Perez some of them certify you, so to speak, i worked for Walmart once, they did that, so when you transferred you didn't have to redo the test unless you needed to renew, or you fucked up.
The life span of one of those tires can be as short as about three HOURS when used in hard rock mining. These companies used to keep a manufacture's repair man on site to repair the tire. He cuts the damaged area to a size, puts in a patch and vulcanizes that part of the tire. Have to keep the trucks up and running. What really amazes me is the weight they carry an the fact they can go up to 40+ mph. How do they stop in some reasonable distance?
First thing you ever do when preparing to operate a lift truck is always put your seatbelt on first before you even start the machine they should have told you that when you are certified to operate the lift truck
I seen a few safety issues. Riding on the side of the fork lift. No hard hat when pealing the tire. Chunks can hit some one in the head. Heck if they make people wear them outside where nothing can fall out of the sky why not. Also standin under forks while tire was hanging for inspection. They could have stood on the other side of tire. I used to be a saftey inspector. Not now because the law states one thing and companys keep doing what they want so Saftey is a joke to a point..
Damn, everyone hating. I'm sitting here thinking the video is neat. Then the comments has a bunch of people who probably work at McDonald's stating that this and that is wrong. Probably never even done something close to what was displayed here.
He would be smart, working with these tall tires, to fasten his seatbelt. Forklifts are equipped with a protective cage. Protected if you are in the seat....
The rubber you see on the road is from the casings themselves failing. Defects inside a casing can only be found using a sherography machine. It's like an x ray machine . Not every truck tire recapper has this machine. I worked as a retread technician for 2companies, one had the machine and one did not. Usually if a cap is going to fail (come off) it does it in the 1st 1000 miles. If the casing is bad it will usually blow out a side wall when it is pressure tested at the final inspection. Goodyear recaps are aired up to 110 psi at final. Bad tires usually pop way before max pressure is reached. I had them pop at as low as 25psi. There are other reasons tires blow on the road, obstacles, heat buildup and very often from being run under inflated which creates more heat.
Some certification course you took. Didn't even put on the seatbelt. That is the first thing you do before you take off the brake. If, for whatever reason, that puppy tips, you want to be firmly attached to that seat so you don't fall in between the ground and that multi ton pile of steel. I don't care what you do in your own car or truck. Hop in a fork truck and you best be putting that seatbelt on.
Why do so many TV producers think that these kinds of shows make better television when the host acts like an asshole? When the "talent" starts acting goofy, it's channel changing time!
The term is "Recapping." Recycling would be destroying the tire to make something entirely new. Now you know and knowing is power. Stay out of public schools kids.
I’ve never seen this before, but I think it’s funny that he says you are now looking at a certified forklift operator, and then proceeds to jump in the seat and doesn’t do the one thing the OSHA will fine your butt for.... not wearing your seatbelt!
You were not wearing your seat belt on the fork lift, and no hearing protection in the plant. That is very serious, and should have been kicked off site.
"How big Tires get retreads"......As for 'recycling', that's a whole lot of wire-bead pulling and chopping up, then off to the G-mill (granulator)...that produces the stuff he's showing at...12:25...that's dry, not 'pulp'....trust me, I worked at a company that builds the 'shredders'....Tri-C....
Used to see some retreaded otr, always wondered about the process. Some looked like shit others looked decent. And yeah everyone thought he was a tool lol
wow i learned something today, never seen it to now, thats cool i wish i could work for them, then he said NORTH CAROLINA is that NORTH CAROLINA like durham n.c. 27701-27714-27721? im asking love the show keep them coming my kids love stuff like this
This reminds me of what people said about broke back mountain...:-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)...< Yea I know it looks like Gay conga line don't it..lol.
To be honest, I still found this interesting but I would have liked less talking and more in-depth explanation into each process. Also would have been good to see how it is "Recycled" since most places dump that rubber.
I think of this show how it's made is for those ppl that are up late at nights think of random stuff for example I wonder how big tires are recycled lol
I had some idea how small tires are recapped. But Never knew it was so involved with big ones. Cool. Thanks Mubashar
I used to do this same job in SALEM V.A. at BRAD RAGAN GOOD YEAR was the best job i ever had you would not believe what i have pulled out of some of those tires WHAT A FUN JOB I really miss it

I never tire of watching these being refurbished, repaired and recycled.
Absaalookemensch . Lol. Good one.
How certified is this guy? No seatbelt, no three points of contact... Yeah...certified!
I wish they took that same kind of care with regular truck tires for regular rigs. Kuddos to the heavy machinery guys taking care of those tires properly. Im sure not all stay together but highly doubt they blow as much as regular truck tires.
Need to rename the show "Awkward fist bumps".
Awkward fist bumps for morons who ask stupid questions
So true, I could sit at that tire plant all day and I can guarantee you not one employee bumps their hands together, they shake hands like any red-blooded American!
Dirty Jobs meets Guy Fieri.
I'm really surprised he didn't say "These tires are off the hook bro!"
"safety is important" last time I checked, standing on the side of an operating forklift isn't something you should do
Also I noticed at the start it was parked with the forks off the ground and pointing in the air.
When he was standing in the doorway of the pressure chamber I was thinking the same thing. The forklift operator should of refused to move until he was out of that potential pinch-point.
He also did not put his seatbelt on.
Certified? I Don’t Think So?
@@j.fabela1748 well i hope at least it has airbags. Imagine the inertia your body picks up driving in one of those. I'm glad I'm not the only one that actually care about M.H.E. safety
Y'all got very good points in ur comms. If ya want to see how these tires are built from scratch, watch How Its Made on Discove ry/ Science Channel.
I was going to say something about fist bumps but realised I was way too late.
Of course you are a certified forklift operator. No seat belt, forks two feet off the ground, and no horn when going into the door (the wrong way).
A good certified forklift operator would never leave his forklift parked with the boom tilted back and the forks raised. He also didn't use the seat belt. FIRED !!!
Also no passengers.
"Certified" forklift operator who doesn't use his seat belt, doesn't give a signal before coming in the door, and walks away from the lift with the load still suspended. Oh yeah, and forklift operator "certification" or "licensing" isn't really a thing.
-"But it looks cool having the showman looking like he's doing something!!"
Juan Perez unless you work at specific companies that require it for safety regulations so to speak, but otherwise, your correct.
Wolf Fortright I'm the safety coordinator for the company I work for. OSHA and CalOSHA both require that operators be "trained" and "evaluated" by a "competent" source. No certification is required.
MrFaller86 sure thing troll.
Juan Perez some of them certify you, so to speak, i worked for Walmart once, they did that, so when you transferred you didn't have to redo the test unless you needed to renew, or you fucked up.
This is like dirty job with a terrible host and helper
Fist bumping is better than handshaking during cold and flu season.
Do you think that after all this process a tire will be strong enough to work in good condition?
Certified Forklift Operator(CFO). First thing to do before you turn the key, safety belt on please.
In the UK if you spent a week skiving then dont expect to get paid.
Civil servants seem to manage to
Mike Rowe could have made this show a lot better. And gave better rates.
First thing you ever do when preparing to operate a lift truck is always put your seatbelt on first before you even start the machine they should have told you that when you are certified to operate the lift truck
Backbone of USA ! Great job workers!
where is mike rowe when you need him?
Know more tire recycling in whatsapp:+86 15107149073
Incredible process. All the workmen look like good honest guys.
Now Im curious to see how they are actually made starting from scratch.
then you get to see all the retreads all over the highways in america and canada. heat made them and heat while driving takes them apart.
Except these aren't road tires. The retreads you're complaining about weren't made here.
Whiskey Tango Foxtrot what is with all the awkward fist bumps?
They should have a cleaning bay where the tires are pressure washed first. You can see how dirty the tires are.
3 things about tyres
1 tyres are so heavy
2 tyres are costly
3 tyres contain so much differant things inside them
ههههه
Tires
I love this educational series about recycling

It is good to fix and reuse tires so they do not end up in landfills!
Lucky Gobble now that's a cool name
A certified Forklift Operator ALWAYS wears his seatbelt. A roll over will cost you your life.
Made it to 7:00 before I had to leave do to fucking excessive fist bumping, Im done.
In Britain, 'skiving' is slang for avoiding work.
Damn, everyone hating. I'm sitting here thinking the video is neat. Then the comments has a bunch of people who probably work at McDonald's stating that this and that is wrong. Probably never even done something close to what was displayed here.
I never would have guessed that the tread was cut into the tire.
Lucky gobble, what a name 😂
Gawd damn these fist bumps! wtf
Such posturing! The "big balls" presenter is a real pain !!
He would be smart, working with these tall tires, to fasten his seatbelt.
Forklifts are equipped with a protective cage.
Protected if you are in the seat....
These tires cost a lot more manpower than I thought it would take, makes you wonder how much they sell them for.
cool documentary, i learned something from it. had no idea this was even possible, i thought old tires are just burned lmao!
Mazxlol hell they put you in jail not really bit a big fine for burning tires
Yeah. In most countries, you'll get fined a very hefty amount if you burn tyres.
Looking at the rubber on our highways from big rig retreads,I am a little skeptical of how good retreads actually are.
The rubber you see on the road is from the casings themselves failing. Defects inside a casing can only be found using a sherography machine. It's like an x ray machine . Not every truck tire recapper has this machine. I worked as a retread technician for 2companies, one had the machine and one did not. Amazing and good for the environment.
There is a tire repair facility in Elko, NV to service the gold mines. Big tires big money.
He has Guy Fieri's soul.
Interesting show with the feel of Dirty Jobs.
The best equipment only from us!!!!
Lucky gobble , what a name !
He was doing good until he said you're looking at right now a certified forklift driver? 🤣😂😂🤣
no helmet, no safety googles? they for sure are in dreamland....
Yup he forgot the sportsman ass smack and the gay fist bump...lmfao
These guys wear no masks to protect themselves, bloody factory.
He is not certified for the fork left. He didn't buckle up first. mmmmmm I'm telling OSHA. MUHAHAHAHHAHAHA
i worked in a tire plant for 9 years
Some certification course you took. Didn't even put on the seatbelt. That is the first thing you do before you take off the brake. excelente video Felicidades

Why do so many TV producers think that these kinds of shows make better television when the host acts like an asshole? When the "talent" starts acting goofy, it's channel changing time!
The host is still trying to figure out skiving to this day.
skiving in the uk is not turning up for work
"Learning how to do things i didnt know how to do before"
Yes the floor is made of floor
How is it possible to be CERTIFIED FORKLIFT OPERATOR, and forget to buckle up ! Talk to much!
And walked away with the load still suspended.
Would have been so much better with Mike Rowe. He is so much more respectful of any and every position in the process.
Dirty Jobs already did this.
The term is "Recapping." Recycling would be destroying the tire to make something entirely new. Now you know and knowing is power. Stay out of public schools kids.
"you're looking at a certified fork lift operator"... doesn't use seatbelt.
A certified forklift operator would wear a seat belt while operating the forklift.
Wow he is a certified fork lift operator.
seatbelt? your safety certificate is revoked.
He lost it when he left the forks pointed up
I’ve never seen this before, but I think it’s funny that he says you are now looking at a certified forklift operator, and then proceeds to jump in the seat and doesn’t do the one thing the OSHA will fine your butt for.... not wearing your seatbelt!
You were not wearing your seat belt on the fork lift, and no hearing protection in the plant. That is very serious, and should have been kicked off site.
Micol Fortuna
Then who would of made the show??
did you put your seat belt on ?
I feel like i'm listening to a young Matt Farah. I missed the name in the intro, so I thought it was actually Matt Farah.
They're both fat and stupid, so no one could blame you.
I guess there are probably some smoking tires here
Real men shake hands
Handshake at 3:28
when you become a real man come back
Ben Cooper has to go
Ben Cooper , OK Boomer.... LMAO JK
If you were a certified forklift operator you would know not to park that forklift with the forks in the air. It's basically lesson one.
You are not so mechanical. Just listening to you, I already know how to do it.
Re-title to - 'How to make an interesting subject really boring'.
g2macs other way around
g2macs discount Mike row has not much to say
Be nice. It was interesting.
"Lucky Gobble"......Ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!!
retread/reused would be a better title, good video
"How big Tires get retreads"......As for 'recycling', that's a whole lot of wire-bead pulling and chopping up, then off to the G-mill (granulator)...that produces the stuff he's showing at...12:25...that's dry, not 'pulp'....trust me, I worked at a company that builds the 'shredders'....Tri-C....
Used to see some retreaded otr, always wondered about the process. Some looked like shit others looked decent. And yeah everyone thought he was a tool lol
Certified forklift driver? Not with those forks sticking up in the air while not on the machine you aren’t!
I thought the tread was just *molded* in... At least for automobile tires that's how they put in the tread - 13:10
Christ word at Enviormental defence Council. Tires. Make inserts
I no a couple of dirt birds I'd love to stick in there.
wow i learned something today, never seen it to now, thats cool i wish i could work for them, then he said NORTH CAROLINA is that NORTH CAROLINA like durham n.c. 27701-27714-27721? im asking love the show keep them coming my kids love stuff like this
Don't walk away from that forklift with the forks in the air
He did more fist bumping than showing what actually went on. Literally spent 8 seconds and showed nothing at each station
How many times do the workers need to explain to this guy what they are doing????
This was pretty cool!!
man, this quality compared to now... SHEESH
This reminds me of what people said about broke back mountain...:-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)...< Yea I know it looks like Gay conga line don't it..lol.
get the new natural rubber tires, 100k mile tires, or simply reuse junkyard tires
Are you guys really that concerned about such small things like the fist bumps and the way the presenter looks?
These guys have never been involved in anything more complicated/technical than touching themselves and drooling.
Boring, but extremely interesting! I didn't even know this was a realistic industry! 🤔
this is matt rogers who hosts the bait on deadliest catch..
To be honest, I still found this interesting but I would have liked less talking and more in-depth explanation into each process. Also would have been good to see how it is "Recycled" since most places dump that rubber.
They make mud flaps and rubber mats and shit out of the crumb rubber
I think of this show how it's made is for those ppl that are up late at nights think of random stuff for example I wonder how big tires are recycled lol
3 fistbumps and 1 handshake lol just saying wats up
