Hey gang hope you liked this breakdown of every sport, I thought trying to break down every single sport would be better than filming for 2 and a half hours talking about just 2 sports, going into way too much detail and really not accomplishing anything, considering, in such a scenario, I wouldn't have a script nor plan. I think, were I to do something like that, the result would most definitely be a long-winded annoying mess. Glad we avoided that.
Enjoyed the video Matt, but I am still confused as to why the teams have to compete against each other. They would get so much more done if they just worked together.
Of course the Canadian man making a video about basic sports knowledge spends half the video's runtime focusing on hockey. I am also Canadian, so I agree with your time distribution wholeheartedly. The part about your kneecap was particularly informative. Also, I counted 42 f-bombs through this video. What a ride.
before this video I could never sport, but thanks to completing the entire 21:15 of this masterpiece, I have managed to be able to sport even less. Thanks Matt!
This video perfectly represents the organisation and directness I strive for when speaking in public. An extraordinarily concise presentation about sports, great job Matt!
Fancy seeing you around these parts hahaha. Ill keep the parasocial weirdness to a minimum 🤣; but big fan, love the vids and builds dude. Good suggestion too haha!
Yeah! Right?! I feel like soccer should have something like that. It's really cool. Add that with the fact that you can't be offside in your own half and you could have a really fun system going
Yeah there’s an offside system and there’s also a penalty for “icing” which is basically just dumping the puck into the other teams zone so that you can reset and force the other team to have to chase the puck back into their zone killing any momentum they may have had although if your team is killing a penalty the icing penalty doesn’t apply also there isn’t 5 positions there’s 6 but one is specifically reserved for a masochist so he doesn’t really count
There's absolutely an offside rule, I can't believe I didn't explicitly say "offside" after talking about the rules of hockey for 13 minutes god i'm a idiot
I mean just watching a hockey game with someone who knows how the game works and asking them questions is kinda the best way because it’s pretty confusing
I had a really cringe inducing phone call the other day and when I hung up I just stared into the abyss for at least a minute and thought about the stupid shit I said and it has haunted me these past few days. This video reminded me of that experience.
Wow that was so good. Speaking as a non-jock (and yes he was looking at me) I now completely understand all the guys who can fill out a pair of track pants really well. Philosophy would be a good one to do also.
After playing hockey for the majority of my youth and growing up watching the fantastic sport, I can confidently say that I forgot completely everything! Thanks, Matt!
Matt I just wanted to thank you. I've always loved your videos, they make me laugh, and never fail to contribute to the depletion of your entire audience's brain cells. Cheers
I know nothing about golf, actually learned a lot! As for hockey, I think the NHL should dedicate a nationally-televised game to learning the rules of hockey. So the game would go on as usual, however every time something new in that game happens, the commentators would talk about what that particular play means & the rules behind it, etc. I know there are online tutorials and such already, but watching an actual game live while learning is probably more engaging. Could be a good way to grow the game
What is the reason that the ice hockey rink has curved corners? Because if they were square with an angle of 90 degrees, the ice would simply melt. Get it? 90 degrees? Like the temperature?
Ice Hockey question: When are players allowed to slam each other into the walls? I mean - I wanna make sure that if I ever play ice hockey (....and I never will) then this is essential knowledge that you missed.
You can hit people when they have the puck. Just don’t hit them in the head or when their back is facing you. there’s some nuance but that’s the basic idea
1. You have to be in a league that allows contact most junior and non professional leagues don’t 2. The other player has to have the puck 3. Really not much else
The sports section (whole point of the video) ends at 11:45 Also, worth mentioning that the WAY you score in hockey is by shooting the puck into the other team's net. And there are goal "gatekeepers" whose only role is to dance around and prevent that tragedy from happening. But of course we were just here to hang out :) Fun fact: hockey is the opposite of some other forms of sport, like scoring in between periods is not a thing
Hey Matt, quick question. I was watching what I think was hockey the other day. Tampa Bay and New York. The team in red couldn't get into the last zone. Like the final zone or end-zone was closing. Apparently there's laws or rules about zoning. Anyway. They got it just over the blue line but they couldn't quite get into that last zone. So they brought out this special team. And the other team didn't want them to score, so they did this thing the announcers called icing to the one dude on the special team with the funny shoe. Any ideas on that? I'm pretty confused, but that's par for the course. I just wanted to cover all my bases. Loved that video. 🤣 You're a genius.
Yeah there's actually a canadian law prohibiting special teams in red to enter the endzone, that way they can't score any touchdowns. Pretty straightforward
