As an Operating Engineer who has operated 992's for years. (both C's and G's) I can't tell you how smooth and powerful these machines are. That's a highly modified bucket. Our C machines (Fresh Kills Landfill) had a Brock 30 yard bucket. Our G machines had a standard bucket. Like the one in the video, befor modification. All of the paramiters, lift hight, curl angle, bucket hight from ground when lowered, all can be preset. This operator is actually underutilizing the capabilities of this machine. It can shift automatically from 2nd to 1st gear when you hit the pile, and weigh each load. So that you put the perfect amount on every truck. The cab is really roomy and comfortable. IMHO the best direct drive loader made.
It is so neat it's getting to where an old hand like me I won't even be able to start one of these machines LOL
New Loaderhand here, got about 4500~ hrs on a loader but much smaller machines (39,000lb machine). Curious if those big loaders are easier to keep grade. I don't have a return to dig function so i have to feel the cutting edge which is easy enough but i always feel like if the machine was bigger/heavier i could grade a bit better than i do now. I don't exclusively work with a bucket, majority of the time im forkin around or using a Lifting Jib but i feel you fellas would have a good idea.
Can you imagine what the early machines were like? Before the high level of control automation that you describe.....
@@barneylinet6602 Yes Barney I can. I started running machines in the 70's. With gasoline powered, rear steer, Front End Loaders. That had no automatic bucket leveling. (You manually adjusted the bucket yourself as you raised the bucket. Otherwise the loader would dump the dirt right back on you.) And Fully manual Bulldozers that had 2 steering levers, 2 brake pedals, 2 clutch pedals, a 'Johnson bar, a shift lever, and a blade control. Once you master these machines. The 'new' machines are a breeze.

What amazes me about these machines is they are so powerful and seem indestructible but a tiny O-ring going out can stop them in their tracks.

Great video , And here I thought loading out 180 4 axle Truck's and 4 Axle Pup's per day was a monotonous job with a 988 , This poor guy going straight forward to scoop and straight back to dump has me beat by a long shot 😂
It varies depending on size of bucket
Coal bucket is bigger and lighter built than rock bucket
And the 992 isn't the biggest loader cat makes

Everything about this is just pure precision and excellence. The control from the CAT operator, how he crawls forward to tip the remaining material out, the mutual understanding between tipper drivers and CAT operator and just overall cooperation. Also the fact that the tipper drivers are trusting that the (approx) 25 tonnes of material doesn’t end up on top of them, is just brilliant

I call it" walking the bastard dog in" in the quarry where I work when I'm loading trucks! Also helps me clean the bucket and not contaminate the stockpiles if I'm going from ap65 down to ap40 for another truck
Most people would look at this and have no idea how amazing this machine is.
And the driver and the lorry drivers it is poetry apart from no lorry`s then four together l guess a tiger can`t change it`s stripes

Once you get the rhythm going, it’s very easy.
The lorry driver know as soon as the bucket starts tipping, they stop immediately.
I’ve been loading 40 ton dumpers for 20+ years.

@@r.h.a.888 гидравлика не потянет. Уголь, который грузим, настолько слежавшийся, что его со стандартным ковшом не всегда удаётся сорвать с места, иногда погрузчик отрывается задними колёсами от земли.

It has to be. It’s loading coal, one of the least efficient fuels possible, so you will need a lot. That’s the only reason why these magnificent machines were built. Pure economic necessity

For a moment the CAT operator had no tippers to fill. Normally it's the other way around. That's the brilliance of the CAT operator.👏👏👏

was just able to do about 7 trucks first 5 mins. In 8 hour day he could do about 672 truck loads! Thats insane. Probs working even longer than 8.
I’m sure he takes breaks in between or switches shifts. The loader too I’m sure takes a break goes for refueling,truck drivers too should be doing all these. Monotony and all the untold fatigue could cause grave accidents here.
@@peterbalighwa9534 it's not unusual to have multiple drivers on this size machines so it never has to stop for operator breaks. I've been working at jobs like this where we had:
Two operators on one machine
Three operators on two machines
Four operators on three machines.
And on some of them there was a fuel truck that came to the machines with fuel so we had a very short stop for refueling.
@@peterbalighwa9534 You’ll have other operators take over during breaks and of course shift changes. Many run 24/7 except for brief maintenance and repairs, fuelling every so often etc.

this machine would be worthless if the operator didn't know what he was doing. thanks to this one the machine runs more efficiently.

Tipping the bucket while the truck is still reversing? And spilling coal everywhere. Plus the face of the coal is sliding towards the trucks. Not a great operator.
He's very efficient. Gets maximum number of loads with the machine, and it's a great machine for the job obviously. But he's not doing anything tricky with the machine. Loading those tippers is probably all he does. All day, every day. I think you would be just as good if that's all you did. The first 3 or 4 days wouldn't be as efficient, but you'd get it. So would I.

@@MountainRancher I operate a loading shovel at work. You should sound the horn signalling the tipper to stop not throw a full bucket in while he’s still reversing. Esp a bucket this size, It’s dangerous.

The Operator is a master of precision, every movement to perfection, no wasted movements whatsoever.
The HGV Operators are also good, smoothly positioning themselves in the right place at the right time for this heavyweight balletic sequence to continue.
As a commentator mentioned, there will be some that don't get just how good the CAT Operator actually is, but that's their loss, I loved it.

As kids we played with the tonka toy versions of this monster cat992G so to be running one of these must be a dream job😃.
I worked as an oiler in a refinery in Long Beach back in the mid 80s ,I would use the lugs on the tires to climb up on huge loaders like these so I could grease the fittings.
Every once in a while the operaters would get bored and want a company and they would say hop on in, these loaders are crazy powerful and yes they would hit the pile hey a scoop and load a truck in one scoop.
Only thing I can compare it to is the shaft Ally onboard a Navy ship or a reversing mill which takes a hot ingot of aluminum and presses it out to 100 yard long and 15 feet wide at 5/8" thick.

EXELENTE ESE OPERADOR....se nota que domina su oficio al enfrentar su frente de trabajo...se acerca lentamente atacando el deposito de material..y una vez clavado el cucharon comienza a levantar e inclinar el cucharon para aliviar la presion sobre el tren motriz y evitar el temible PATINAZO de las ruedas tractoras y prevenir el desgaste prematuro de neumaticos a la vez que la transmision tambien se ve menos forzada....saludos a los buenos operadores como este

One truck leaves another one is there to take its place. Great efficiency. With out a doubt not affiliated with NYC or MTA. You work too smoothly
yeah the only thing that bothers me is that there's more room on those trucks and that has a major impact when it comes to hauling like that. but i guess that's just the truck driver in me that wants as efficient transports as possible even though i can't really explain how they would load those trucks more. maby a slightly bigger bucket or just 2 buckets and then scrape up the leftovers that fall over the sides.

Such a cute lil loader we have one we use for small dump trucks where I work but it takes 8 scoops to fill out Cat793 haul trucks. The Cat994 Loader is much bigger. If ppl this this loader is big type in Cat994 about 50% bigger

For now anyways, the combustion engine, and it's fuel tanks have far greater energy density and operational life than electric motors and it's batteries.
