Swiss-roll Volatile Organic Compound Incinerator

Many industrial processes have waste Volatile Organic Compounds or VOCs, that cannot be vented into the environment. ACT’s VOC Incinerator utilizes Swill-roll geometry, an ideal design for a recuperating combustor due to large counter current heat exchange area, minimized heat losses from both surface and flue gas with the added benefit of passive operation.

ACT has been developing Swiss-roll related technologies together with Professor Paul Ronney at the University of Southern California (USC). Extensive experimental work and detailed CFD based modeling has been performed to understand the effect of heat recuperation on the chemical reaction. Fuel reformers and incinerators are currently being developed. In addition, new fabrication methods have been developed at ACT including high-temperature brazing and 3D printing of metal reactors.
