They said they're doing preproduction for base building, which means exactly that: *pre-* production. That means designs, metrics, concept art, plans, planning, meetings, more meetings, planning production schedules, syncing with other teams involved in those production schedules, revising schedules and having more meetings, realizing some metrics don't work and some new concept art is commissioned, etc, etc. It means they'll be doing other preproduction stuff, and you shouldn't expect any of what laypeople would rudely (and reductively) refer to as "real work" happening anytime soon, giving preproduction is itself a very non-trivial and altogether very complex and very necessary phase of development. PS: You can probably safely assume, though, that the Economy team producing full (internal) graphs for their planned economy generators/transformers/sinks is work that was required by the base building preproduction planners, and Economy designers/producers will definitely be involved heavily in the preproduction for base building (far more than they will in actual production, until it's done and enters post-production and enters their jurisdiction to control the final economy design lol).

Character creator is pointless without in-game cutscenes/video calls to use them in. I'd rather they fix the 5 server fps that fucks with all gameplay and server-wide events.
Super keen for 3.23. I really hope they get personal hangers in. Currently can't play due to 30ks every login 2 mins in, hopefully a few stability fixes sprinkled amongst the features 😂
1:25 "only 140calories per serving" - with 35g serving size it means 420calories per 100g which is slightly more calories than in 100g of pure sugar - 387cal ))
As far as the EPTU it is obvious that the master modes had no consideration for the industrial ship game play, seems “ok” for committed combat like PvP were you’re not going to run away, but any situation that you might need to try and run, say a reclaimer crew wanting to leave a salvage op because they see pirates coming in might as well get use to the idea of either being boarded or destroyed since it will take nearly a minute, with no shields, to switch, spool, and jump. That is more then enough time for a ship already in SCM to target and disable the ship before it can get away since precision targeting allows you to aim at the QD and take it out
Due to it size and the significant changes, I've always been of the opinion that 3.23.0 should be an ILW patch. Unfortunately they may cut something big like hangars or cargo to get it out sooner, which is rather unfortunate because that's what I'm looking forward to the most. It'll be what it'll be though of course.
Feeling quite worried too. I was also super hyped for the cargo and hanger stuff. But I also expected more from the distribution zones. Quite disappointed that there is like no content there. The best things about the patch are now quality of life things, which dont get me wrong, is sorely needed and super excited for them, but there is basically nothing new to do at this stage
There are two versions of the new launcher, the RC, which installs separately to the old launcher, and a direct replacement official release version of the new launcher, which does replace the old launcher. Most folks should be installing the latter.
Great video! In my opinion, I don't think 3.23 will make it to its "Q1 Patch" if they still plan to have everything they said that was going to be in 3.23. To me, its either a delay or they are cutting features to make it "on time." I hope I'm wrong...
1week for XT final fight, 1week for XT phase5. which means they only have exact one month before 3.23 release, unless they decided to delay Invictus but i look forward to ship building progress. hope to see galaxy come true this year so i can finally have my all in one ship and try to live alone in the wild
Always enjoyed your videos as I feel they reflect the reality of how this project is actually progressing. Basically putting a comment here as I can't believe no one has been honest about how the Xeno threat missions have really been. According to ISC the missions were a great success, c'mon who is kidding who - the missions were pretty buggy, especially the box mission that took me several attempts and 6 hours to complete. Whilst the first set of missions were fun it's only on a server running at 15fps or higher that gives you a real experience. In AUS servers we are lucky to see between 5 and 10 fps. If you could do a reaction video of ISC with the actual in game footage showing the difference I'd send a like hehe
Fuck new ships with no fleshed out gameplay loops for them. Even the Reclaimer is still very barebones to what it's supposed to be able to do. Worse still, they removed the Claw and replaced it with a 1 button vacuum head that only looks like a Claw. Some backers tolerate it, because it's still relatively easy to print millions of aUEC with it. I bet once CIG "balances" it with other industry game loops, more backers would realize how shitty it actually is. There's a reason Mike still calls the game a tech demo. It's multiple v.0.1 features duck-taped together in a sandbox solar system.
Honestly, I didn't expect the Zeus until next October. As for the Legionnaire, I know they were talking once about boarding derelict space stations and stuff like that with it too - at the end of the day, it's also a drop ship. Sure the hacking computer and nose-bridge are the marquis features, but dropping a squad into a battlezone is still viable with it too so I think it will find some use. I'm a bit surprised though; I thought we'd have a lot more stuff in by now - for example, weren't the G12s supposed to be in last Christmas? Anyway, don't stress too much Mike, it will be ready when it's ready. Thanks for the video o7
Im very concerned about the basic functions being operational in 3.23, especially since something as basic as a shuttle to the space port has a 10% success rate. It really doesn't inspire a lot of confidence with the instability of the build when I can't test the things they want tested because basic functions don't work.
Cargo Elevators 3.23.0? I'd like to be positively surprised if it _does_ get dropped into 3.23.0 sometime during EPTU / PTU ... but ... ... based on _who_ in CIG is working on this, history suggests it's going to be late. Initial Cargo Refactor delivery kept getting delayed. Same team. - Doubtless, with initial Cargo Refactor they hit sticky technical issues with PES implementation and the underlying rework of just about everything - Maybe the team have hit similar technical hurdles with the Cargo Elevators; If/when persistent hangars does get released, it will be interesting to see how new workpieces done by members of the dearly departed USPU team track whilst under their new overlords in the NAPU team.

I don't plan on playing again until the end of the year. I know if I jump in now I'll be frustrated by the state of the game, so it's better to wait. I do worry that Star Citizen focuses too much on "realism" and misses making things fun.
@@SpaceDad42 haha, it can be realistic and fun. But Star citizen has a history of being clunky and having overly complicated systems for simple tasks. I’ve been playing PC games since the early 90’s so I think I’ll continue thanks. But if you feel the need to be a fanboy and defend Star Citizens honour then go ahead.

Hey Mike. Legionnaire has a"Two-in-One Docking Collar" that allows you to dock to any sized docking. This means that ships like the Carrack, 400i, Constellations (Except the Phoenix currently), New Retaliator, etc, Will not be safe. Will this be the case on launch? Most likely not, as CIG has not developed Small dock or ship to ship docking other than Constellation to Merlin/Archimedes.
So you read their sale description. Ill play the game and say there is a 0 percent chance legacy ships that have no docking capabilities will still have 0.
@ZurakciEntertainment CIG can't even get 2 ships to dock between each other that's dedicated for it. You expect them to honor their sales page descriptions to make all docking collars work with the Legionnaire? If you believe that, there's a mine in Africa you can inherit. I just need your credit card info.
All i need to see if the bloody starmap and ability to put wp down i can quantum to with stability then i would be happy.....but as usual its going to probably be a very buggy year with very little new.....but hey hopefully im wrong
Everyones hyping this patch but for me its been ass, log in issues , unable to hop servers and join friends, cannot ROC mine , contracts seemto bug out on servers after a while, getting blown up randomly, getting trespassing when i have a mission at a bunker , alongside the usual bugs as well. Most the “new” features are just ports from SQ42 , again again and again CIG always fail to meet expectations . Missions are shocking and all they give us are new. “depo buildings” that are just huge buildings with not alot gong on inside and are bug infestations .
Cargo or bust. What else do I have to look forward to? EVA? Haven't seen a mission for animals yet in PTU/EPTU, but I've been trying forever. Never engaged with overdrive because the rewards were buyable only till what... wave 3? It's pretty pitiful. This company has a long way to go until it's an "MMO" as much as I really want that.
Salty you're funny if you use the new launcher and you get the error code 2000, the old launcher doesn't work either and then you can't even redirect the game let alone verify your files
I really want the cargo in too, but honestly would prfer them to wait untill they have updated ships like the Cat to a gold standard. why are we implimenting features with ships in game that wont be able to enjoy the features 100%. they should be working on these two things together. sorry just a salty cat owner
I'll be very disappointed if cargo/hangars does not make it to 3.23. It feels like that was originally the main reason for 3.23, now it's just a UI update patch :(
Can they finally increase ballistic ammo for ships ffs. I want to run ballistic guns so badly bad the amount of ammo is WAY to low, add more ammo and the option to reload or something. Its ridicolous.
900 years into the future and they can't figure out reloading of ammo from the ship's cargo grid. It's like we got stuck with California/NY rifle magazine laws but for all ship combat. lol
@@SaltEMike Mike, I suspected at the time it was shown in one of those Star Citizen Dev videos that it would not make the cut for 3.23.0, both were too big a change, so it made sense that both would go into a following Point Patch. Remains to be seen if whether one or both will make that Point Patch.
I’m very unhappy with master modes. It’s awful! It feels broken. The EPTU is unplayable atm. If we lose cargo and hangers for 3.23, it’ll be a big letdown for me.
You can't play 3.23 for enjoyment. SC is a game that is primarily about space flight, it's about _flying space ships._ *_For fun._* And if you are flying an S3-S4 ships, Master Mode fucks you and makes your ships *un-fun* to fly. The 600i now has the same flight characteristics as the Hull-C. The fucking Hull-C? And the 400i has the same flight characteristics as the Corsair? Bullshit. As far as I can see from looking at the numbers, light fighters are the only class of ship that _didn't_ get fucked. And the Freelancers, because they're apparently too old to notice. 🤣 So when 3.23 launches, I'll be ignoring the last decade of ships and just flying my Kickstarter Freelancer MIS and my 325a.
Basic door locks for all ship doors, especially for cockpit/bridge access doors and exterior doors. Get rid of the shoot doors they will open, but get explosive charges or plasma tools to breach doors for raiding would be nice to see imo. We can all dream about better game mechanics 😔
I think you're right about the Zeus. They're really far along with it. If I was a betting man, I would bet they're trying to get it out for Invictus launch week for a ship sale!
It tanked when they brought in PES, like every game that's brought in persistence. It will again. They should make PU the PPTU, because PU will always be a different beast and a test in itself. Imagine how empty it would be if we only had stuff that worked 100%. I just want it delivered roughly on time, and the features and additions working by 3.30 ( as they'll be broke by 3.40 =P ). But I'm really exited for engineering, knowing it's going to annoy me how buggy it will be as we are all fail to curb our enthusiasm at times.
they need to set something up so players can pick up other players Cargo as a contract for money there is nothing an no plans we hear aboudt pls ask aboudt it. it will helps miners out an so on so you can try a prober game play for miners an epople that want to move stuff from A to B but they dont own a transport craft so they can hire players for this.
CIG said they shifted ship production into manufacturer-focused sprints. So one sprint is RSI-focused, another is Aegis and so on. When they do an Esperia/Aopoa/Gatac sprint, you'll likely see more alien ships in the pipeline.
As a pirate, the cargo mission stuff worries me. It seems to remove all risk from traders and reduces piracy income significantly. I'm hoping the implication that you might want to try commodity trading means that it will be significantly more profitable than running cargo missions.
I wont play the entirety of 3.23 if cargo elevators arent in. The rest of the game is the same ole same ole. And the star map should be a priority. The inability to set routes in most cases is just out of this world. A space game that you cant navigate space.

1:25 "only 140calories per serving" - with 35g serving size it means 420calories per 100g which is slightly more calories than in 100g of pure sugar - 387cal ))
yeah, allowing for serving sizes as a measurement of calories is how the corpo lobbies managed to get back to scammin ya
For days of trying and still supply mission on the list to do.
It'll be what it'll be though of course.
thanks Mike for your content, all my best wishs for the comming weeks
Feeling quite worried too. I was also super hyped for the cargo and hanger stuff.
But I also expected more from the distribution zones. Quite disappointed that there is like no content there.
The best things about the patch are now quality of life things, which dont get me wrong, is sorely needed and super excited for them, but there is basically nothing new to do at this stage
Performance is the biggest PROBLEM rn. Its a real issue
I like the quality of your vids. Looking good!
They scrapped that a long time ago im pretty sure. Supposed to be q2.
1week for XT final fight, 1week for XT phase5. which means they only have exact one month before 3.23 release, unless they decided to delay Invictus
but i look forward to ship building progress. hope to see galaxy come true this year so i can finally have my all in one ship and try to live alone in the wild
I must say i could care less about new ships . . . they just don't matter anymore.
Legionnaire bit mentioned it was put at a dev halt until gameplay team could get the gameplay going. So that's cool at least.
Same team.
- Doubtless, with initial Cargo Refactor they hit sticky technical issues with PES implementation and the underlying rework of just about everything
- Maybe the team have hit similar technical hurdles with the Cargo Elevators;
If/when persistent hangars does get released, it will be interesting to see how new workpieces done by members of the dearly departed USPU team track whilst under their new overlords in the NAPU team.
Was hoping for personal hangers too, but it's not looking likely. Hopefully we'll learn more this Fri.
I was hoping for hangArs I got plenty of hangErs at home.
@@robertchandler2063 ok - I'm schooled!
I’m not freaking out, because I’m an adult, but I do hope to see the personalized hangars and updates to cargo soon.
So I’m a child…ok dude.
@@SaltEMike lol, bro I’m close to 60 and just have a different perspective. I appreciate your passion but do you spend as much time with your wife as you do with Star Citizen? I’m not a priest or a therapist but she needs you more than us. Just an old man sharing because I can. Ban me if you want. I’ve been listening to you for 7 years dude. You’re achieving great things especially after the LevelCap stream. Love him too. Im sincerely happy for your growth and you don’t need me to lecture you but as someone who’s put career over family I’m admonishing you to take a step back and love that which is most important. I see you taking the time for family and that’s great but you say it with some form of regret and apology. Please don’t do that. You have skill as an entertainer and your opinions have won you fame. I’m just the sorry old man warning you to maintain the main thing. No shade meant but obviously I touched a nerve. You have a huge influence on this community and I want you to thrive but not at the expense of your wife and family. Sermon over. I hope no hard feelings.
I'm looking forward and the only thing is the hangars. Hoping it comes soon and doesn't get canned.
I don't plan on playing again until the end of the year. I know if I jump in now I'll be frustrated by the state of the game, so it's better to wait. I do worry that Star Citizen focuses too much on "realism" and misses making things fun.
Stay on your console, kiddo. It isn’t real enough.
Hopefully they're working on the Legionnaire because its "hacking" function is tied in with the ship permissions necessary for Engineering.
Not sure why do you need freight elevators to make a proper event to deliver cargo
Anytime I hear or see anything about base building now, all I can think is RIP Todd Pappy
He died?
@@fffx2 Worse: Laid off by the man, CR, himself

Each video just gets more and more quality, like the resolution of everything so very nice and crisp. Also I enjoyed the Magic Spoon ad lol
Great video. Thanks for these, consistent high quality lately
I haven't played a patch in over a year. Probably not going to play this one now that cargo isn't in it.
Hopefully 3.24 will have it and I'll try it out..... or maybe I'll just keep waiting till 4.0 or a better rep system.
I put down star citizen a few months ago excited for this year's updates and features. I'll probably jump back in this update but if there are no hangers or elevators i don't see myself putting up through all the bugs to play regularly.
We can't even complete 1 phase of their weekly overdrive event without slamming our heads on our desks due to bugs and server performance. We're gonna need a lot of copium this year.
I do recall CIG saying Cargo and hangers will be released in a 3.23.x update, not the initial release so they can iron out some things
perchance the vehicle spawning in elevators?
Look at the roadmap you dont have guess.
Bro, don't move goal posts for CIG. They'll inevitably do that themselves.
ngl, seeing my gamertag pop up in a SaltEMike video made my fanny flutter a bit!
i like most of the stuff in 3.23 but flying not as fun anymore i really dont like that when you put landing gear down drops your speed to 30 so you can't slide and more and now easy kill for any one this might make me leave could change but right now might put it down for good
Calling it now, 3.23.0 will not contain instanced hangars or any of the features therein.
I really hope you're wrong citizen. lol
@@MILSPECMOM Me too....
Low hanging fruit though. Next you're gonna tell me Trump wins another election. Cue the shocked Pikachu face. /s
All i need to see if the bloody starmap and ability to put wp down i can quantum to with stability then i would be happy.....but as usual its going to probably be a very buggy year with very little new.....but hey hopefully im wrong
That launcher is bug to hell I had to go back to the old one immediately because it wouldn't even let me play
“depo buildings” that are just huge buildings with not alot gong on inside and are bug infestations .
at least the UI changes and the map will make it. finally some QoL stuff
Cig- we won’t release ships without gameplay…. Continues to release ships without gameplay
I would rather Invictis be with the current build instead of rushing out 3.23
Constant ”commodity price alerts” better not be in 3.23…
i tell you.. a lot of features will be pushed back :D
We don't even have ship to ship docking with the big docking ports right? So that should arrive with the Legionnaire or it's completely useless.
The features I'm waiting for is atmo ((de)pressurizing) and repair (RSI Crucible)
Lol love the ad 🤣 also amazing editing editor 🤘🤘
It's like we got stuck with California/NY rifle magazine laws but for all ship combat. lol
I' sorry to say that objectively speaking, I can't see the cargo and hangar stuff getting into 3.23.0 BUT more likely in a .1 Point Patch.
Now, but you wouldn’t have said this a month ago.
@SaltEMike that's a very good point to make for alot of these comments.
If we lose cargo and hangers for 3.23, it’ll be a big letdown for me.
one month (minimum) before 3.23 and... no cargo? omg everything is gone!!!
🤣 So when 3.23 launches, I'll be ignoring the last decade of ships and just flying my Kickstarter Freelancer MIS and my 325a.
economy is pointless, we need dynamic economy not little and useless changes for an alpha game.
Prevent enemies entering ship?
Yeah I get salty when it happens, but how so?
Not a complete barrier to entry as how will pitateing happen?
Basic door locks for all ship doors, especially for cockpit/bridge access doors and exterior doors. Get rid of the shoot doors they will open, but get explosive charges or plasma tools to breach doors for raiding would be nice to see imo. We can all dream about better game mechanics 😔
Ugh i didnt buy this for MM.. i dont want space call of duty i want star citizen...😢
I think you're right about the Zeus. They're really far along with it. If I was a betting man, I would bet they're trying to get it out for Invictus launch week for a ship sale!
Agreed. CIG loves timing ship production with big sale events like Invictus and CitCon.
I suspect they want the Legionnaire finished to the point where it can at least be used for boarding action in the refactored Xenothreat mission.
OH come on,k it's not like they haven't clubbed every player into submission already. The Star Citizen community is the "Excuse Community"
Just letting you know....i skip every single ad i see or hear.....except yours....keep it up.
But I'm really exited for engineering, knowing it's going to annoy me how buggy it will be as we are all fail to curb our enthusiasm at times.
ok cynic
Good video
they need to set something up so players can pick up other players Cargo as a contract for money
there is nothing an no plans we hear aboudt pls ask aboudt it.
it will helps miners out an so on so you can try a prober game play for miners an epople that want to move stuff from A to B but they dont own a transport craft so they can hire players for this.
Great vid Mike! I'm still waiting for my alien cargo ship. Why are those ships not being pushed with these newer ships?
CIG said they shifted ship production into manufacturer-focused sprints. So one sprint is RSI-focused, another is Aegis and so on. When they do an Esperia/Aopoa/Gatac sprint, you'll likely see more alien ships in the pipeline.
it feels like the Zues is coming fast and I'm actually hoping they suprise us at invictus with the Zues!
This concerns me. Evocati is when individual features are meant to be tested, and PTU is when they should all be in to be tested together.
Almost none of the features were ready for feedback in Evo.
It'll be fine Mike, just don't play the game till it gets good like the rest of us.
Seems most larger ships fly like dumpsters now…another bad decision by CIG.
As a pirate, the cargo mission stuff worries me. It seems to remove all risk from traders and reduces piracy income significantly.
I'm hoping the implication that you might want to try commodity trading means that it will be significantly more profitable than running cargo missions.
It’s been a big ‘carrot 🥕 on a stick’ for over 2 decades with SC bs… I feel bad for those that poured cash on this bs.
I wont play the entirety of 3.23 if cargo elevators arent in. The rest of the game is the same ole same ole. And the star map should be a priority. The inability to set routes in most cases is just out of this world. A space game that you cant navigate space.
is 3.23 living up to the hype? no dumpster fire, as is OD 5.. since when have box missions worked?
Who even does box missions? Those were a proof of concept test.
Overpromised, it is what it is
