Gorgeous hair, it's like silk and so ethereal! I'm kicking myself for cutting my long hair now... I just didn't know what to do with it. Back at APL now and growing it back! :)
I wear it up about 70-80% of the time, I wash with a mild organic shampoo, I oil my hair once a week (camellia oil), I don't dye my hair anymore (back then only red henna), and I don't use any heat or styling products :) I have a more detailed routine in my blog linked in my profile.
at last, a style for really really long hair. my daughter can sit on hers and it never seems to stay up in a bun as its too heavy. this looks as though it will work and I'll try it using some dowel first, if it stays up I'll buy some hair pins like yours. if it works on her hair you'll have come up with a miracle style. thank you.
I really hope it works for her! You might want to look at some other buns I posted too, at least I know of ladies with knee length and longer, very thick hair that can wear them :)
Red henna helps as well as lots of moisture in the form of oil. I also used Earthly Delight conditioner. Health plays a big role too, any type of hormonal imbalances can affect your hairs texture and ability to grow long.
It works better with very long hair because the weight is balanced. But with the right length all it takes is practice. I know ladies with insanely thick knee length hair that do this bun beautifully!
It takes me 4 years to tailbone length which is 90 cm for me (measured using the SSS method explained in my trim video). If you trim often it can take longer...I did not grow it to this length all at once but with breaks and lots of trims. 2002 my hair was bob length, 2006 waist length. But I know how fast it grows because I grew out my dye in 4 years ;) and I measure how much monthly growth I get.
@DieSushiBitch loreena mckennitt certainly does have a great voice!! i remember finding her years ago - i kept on replaying it over and over. NOW my 3 brothers have some of her songs in their playlist ;) great job!! nice beautiful hair...you musta have patience in taking care of your hair - i cut all my hair (spine length) to below shoulders ~ now i'm thinking of growing it again as i see lots of beautiful 'dos!! Thanks!!!
Mine used to get oily quickly, but a long time ago I switched to a very mild organic shampoo (I like Earthly Delight best and use it since 2007) which will cause your scalp to produce less oil. Harsh shampoos dry our your scalp so much that in return it gets oily faster to combat the dryness. It does take time stretching washes though, I just went another and another and another day without washing until I got to 7. On average I wash once weekly.
I'm sorry I can't seem to reply to everyone's comments bc UA-cam's new system is retarded. 1. Yes the music is creepy, it fits 2. To prevent tangles trim splits often, oil with coconut oil, wear your hair up when it is windy and use a good conditioner like Earthly Delight 3. No, I'm not part Chinese, part Japanese. 4. Thank you my hair seems to be recovering. Sorry if I forgot anyone!
I used to have hair the same length as yours a year ago until I cut it. I couldn't do a bun back then because of it but I guess I should have seen this video earlier.
Finally i found someone nearly same hair length of mine. now i can do hairstyles. but my hair aint that much manageable and pretty thick too. your hair is amazingly beautiful. subscribed. ❤
+nav kaur sidhu Thank you :) My hair just gives off the illusion of being managable. It is one of the most difficult hair types for updos since it is slippery, but sort of stiff, so not easy bendable and when trying to shape it it just fights me. I also can never do any fluffy hairstyles sadly.
This bun is SO GOOD for long hair, omg. White girl buns are so ugly and they're not even comfortable. This bun is beautiful and feels comfortable and tight. Thank you so much!
Thanks for this. My hair is super-slippery/smooth (even though it is slightly wavy)and I struggle to place it in a really secure bun. This tutorial is great, the bun just stays secure! :-)
I am glad you like my hair "cut" ^^. I really only trim my ends monthly and my bangs were growing out here. If you mean the taper...well that happens when you grow your hair long, some strands will be a tad shorter and some longer. That is natural layering. I have a video on how I trim my hair too.
i love all the bunsi could not do a pretty bun till your videos you make them so easy!what kind of products do you use ,and also is the henna hair color good and not damaging?where do you buy yours?your hair is so healthy. any info will be great! thanks!
Love this video, I just bought my first set of hair sticks and am learning to use them. My hair's not as long as yours but at 27 inches I'm getting closer to where I want to be. Love the music, Loreena Mckennitt is my fave!
Beautiful. What I really want to know is how she prevents her hair from being a tangly mess. Now that my hair is long it tangles so easily. Her's is so beautiful and tangle free.
Ty so much...i really like your videos...i have hair similar to you in length..i rarely get hairstyles for long hair...ty so much:)Keep on producing more and more videos
OHMYGOD your hair are fantastic!!! I like to take care of mine too, but yours are wonderful! I like very much your haircut, too, I always try to convince my hairstylish to make a haircut like that but he's unable. Could you tell me how it is done, please??? Thank you very much, cheers from Italy! :D
Hopefully yours will regrow fast! I always think this way - shorter styles can be cute, but ultimately I like really long hair best. So the time it would take to regrow from a shorter style is just not worth it.
Your hair is gorgeous! I have 24inches of hair right now. I'm aiming for your length. As a natural redhead, I get a lot of attention ( and even more now with the length) and most of the time I do a variation Chinese bun. I plan on doing the other one a lot more now. I wonder how it will hold up because my hair is definitely thicker than yours, lol. I'm eager to try this! Thank you!
The Chinese Bun seems to work well with very thick hair too because of the elastic and the stick as support. I have seen it on the Long hair Community Forums on women with past knee length, very thick hair. Much success growing!
you have a very beautiful hair!! :) never never listen to people who tell you to cut your hair!!!!! I made that mistake and I regret it :( ....anyway beautiful hairstyles well done!! :D
@pawakin Mostly a wide toothed plastic curls pic for detangling and a japanese and a Chinese Boxwood Comb..I like "Le Bao Long" Combs...der froehliche Drache ltd. :) In the shower I don't comb btw.
I just did this! and I love it! thank you so much! and your hair is stunning, mine is almost down to my waist and I cannot wait to get it as long as yours!! :D
You're hair is sooo beautiful and long is there anything you do to keep it beautiful? Do you always keep it up, etc? Ever since I started getting spilt ends last years I stopped straightening it and only braid it or put it up in a loose bun.
Everyone: Sorry for the late replies to some comments!! UA-cam did not display them before! I had this glitch on most of my videos and now I found comments from 1 year + ago. :/
UA-cam removed the music, but I think that was a mistake, everyone uses some artists music in their videos..many are made for the sole purpose uf uploading music... so let me know if it comes back. :(
@emmaperreault91 I do write a little about hair care in my blog linked from my profile, that should help, there is a lot of little things to so :) I also have a website but its in German some read it with google translator.
I have my routine and more posted on my blog. I am not too careful with it, but I avoid certain things that can be problematic (wrong comb, shampoo etc.) :)

Your hair is GORGEOUS, and it looks so fresh and clean. I'm going to have to try Earthly Delight and stretching. And the Chinese bun. ; )
@DieSushiBitch loreena mckennitt certainly does have a great voice!! i remember finding her years ago - i kept on replaying it over and over. NOW my 3 brothers have some of her songs in their playlist ;)

Emi longhairedatheart I love the song choice.
You should do a fishtail braid with your length of hair it would look pretty cool
I loved the music.
And the buns, they are simple yet unique.
Lovely hair by the way, its so silky.
I used to have hair the same length as yours a year ago until I cut it. I couldn't do a bun back then because of it but I guess I should have seen this video earlier.

Victoria Arnold Omg LOL What is a "white girl bun?"
Thanks for this. My hair is super-slippery/smooth (even though it is slightly wavy)and I struggle to place it in a really secure bun. This tutorial is great, the bun just stays secure! :-)
Danke! I tried the Chinese bun for the first time today. It looks great and feels very secure! Love it. Thanks for the tutorial.
Oh der sieht toll aus, werd ich bald mal ausprobieren.Und übrigens find ich die Musik im Hintergrund toll.:)

I am glad you like my hair "cut" ^^. I really only trim my ends monthly and my bangs were growing out here. If you mean the taper...well that happens when you grow your hair long, some strands will be a tad shorter and some longer. That is natural layering. I have a video on how I trim my hair too.

+chris malzahn Thank you! Her music is great!
that was a very beautiful song as well as great video.
@daphnener , yes I think her songs always fit the videos so nicely. I also have many albums, she is great :)
very beautiful hair
I would love to do you hair! Its so long and smooth looking. Its beautiful!
Not really, it will lose its shape but the hair that is pinned and tied will stay put, almost like a loop ponytail.
Beautiful. What I really want to know is how she prevents her hair from being a tangly mess. Now that my hair is long it tangles so easily. Her's is so beautiful and tangle free.
Ty so much...i really like
your videos...i have hair similar to you in length..i rarely get hairstyles for long hair...ty so much:)Keep on producing more and more videos
Thanks you! :) The tutorial is quite old but I am glad everyone still seems to like it.
Nice way of looking at it!
I love this style easiest and quickest one t do my hair is shorter than yours but I can do it
If you don't like sticks use a very small stick that will be pretty much hidden maybe.
How do you keep your long hair so beautiful and healthy? Tips anyone? Gorgeous 'do, btw =)
OHMYGOD your hair are fantastic!!! I like to take care of mine too, but yours are wonderful! I like very much your haircut, too, I always try to convince my hairstylish to make a haircut like that but he's unable. Could you tell me how it is done, please???

Your hair is beautiful.
you have a very beautiful hair!! :) never never listen to people who tell you to cut your hair!!!!! I made that mistake and I regret it :( ....anyway beautiful hairstyles well done!! :D
Whats the name of this music it's so mystical
Thank you!
nice buns! sorry couldn't resist ;)
Yes, and I never used heat on it. I believe it would break off in pieces and look really dull and damaged if I did lol.
Most can achieve this with the right (not conventional) care!
I love the music who is the artist and what is the song called and your hair is very beautiful :)
Thank you! Glad you liked it.
I'm so excited I love this bun.
+Kara bobila Thank you!
@pawakin Mostly a wide toothed plastic curls pic for detangling and a japanese and a Chinese Boxwood Comb..I like "Le Bao Long" Combs...der froehliche Drache ltd. :)
In the shower I don't comb btw.
That is great! So glad to have inspired you! Keep up the determination in growing your hair and let me know how it is going in the future. :)
Beautiful hair but the music gave me the creeps!
+Roo Torres You must be very easy to scare if classical music does that. XD
+Emi longhairedatheart Yes um, I have bad memories associated with classicals. But hey, your video your song!
Thx! The color was henna! I grew it out though and now it is auburn.
I did but I since pregnancy I have been losing it again. I will have to wait longer...
I just did this! and I love it! thank you so much! and your hair is stunning, mine is almost down to my waist and I cannot wait to get it as long as yours!! :D
I will try that, I actually thought about it, just wasn't sure how it will work with hip length...
@gurbachan Yes it works for any thickness and most lengths
Thank you for posting such an art form.
Your hair is so beautiful and long! I want hair like you one day! Oh and beautiful hair tutorial. I loved it
You should do a braided chinese bun
@DieSushiBitch Actually, it doesn't. Mine's waist length, but my hair is too thick to put it up like this around a chopstick.
Ich finde dieses Video ganz toll! Musik ist auch voll geil:-)) Vielin Dank!
Thanks! Glad you like it.
I did not grow it all at once and took breaks but 2002 I had a bob and 2006 I was at waist length. It takes me 4 years to grow to tailbone length.
very easy and usefull!! thanks!
Natural color auburn or just look at newer videos, and I dyed it with red henna back then.
instead of thoughs clipps use bobby pins that match your hair color
I love the color alot, your hair is awesome lol
Is that lorenna mckennitt? how do you grow hair like that? I tried the bun and its awesome!
even though its just hair styling, it looks so beautiful
Hope you will get back your thick hair...
You're hair is sooo beautiful and long is there anything you do to keep it beautiful? Do you always keep it up, etc?
Ever since I started getting spilt ends last years I stopped straightening it and only braid it or put it up in a loose bun.
And she manages this channel too. ;)
What kinds of combs do you use? (detanglars, shower combs, brush etc)
very easy and usefull!! thanks! and i love long hair like yor, minethe same long but not straight :)
Everyone: Sorry for the late replies to some comments!! UA-cam did not display them before! I had this glitch on most of my videos and now I found comments from 1 year + ago. :/
I might in the future. It just takes so long!
Awesome!! Love it!!
GREAT! Thank you!
Just asking Emi could you do the braided version of this bun it would look beautiful on you
How long did it take to grow your hair that long?? Mine's till the hips and it took about 7 years...
Yes, it works for many lengths!
UA-cam removed the music, but I think that was a mistake, everyone uses some artists music in their videos..many are made for the sole purpose uf uploading music... so let me know if it comes back. :(
Yes, back then I did use red Henna from Mehandi.com
Thank you! :)
instead of thoughs clipps use bobby pins that match your hair color you by them at walmart
@emmaperreault91 I do write a little about hair care in my blog linked from my profile, that should help, there is a lot of little things to so :) I also have a website but its in German some read it with google translator.
ZOMG I cant believe you hair is that long AND beautiful!
Do you have a hair care video?! You must be so carefull with it
I have my routine and more posted on my blog. I am not too careful with it, but I avoid certain things that can be problematic (wrong comb, shampoo etc.) :)
What do you use to make your hair so shiny? :D
Just wondering, would the hair still stay up if you pulled the chopstick out?
nice but I can't get stick
+ayesha shaik You can find hairsticks on Etsy.
Good but I unable to do perfect ty
You can grow it. It is not that hard!
This hair style is soooo pretty. I love the music too! I just bought the song on itunes
