    Howling of the wind is special effect enough for me. Thanks for sharing.

    Our children need to be taught these skills. Everybody should feel accomplished in a hands on artform.

    Wow! What a beautiful video Ben, so relaxing too see you work, there is something so cozy about this, no music or special effects, just the sound of your tools cutting
    through the wood and the rain poring down on your roof. The knives and leather goods you two make
    inspire and motivates me to make my own stuff and enjoy the world of making. Thank you

    love these. I agree with Josh Tracy- please make a video on a DIY shave horse!! Haven't found a video that explains it good enough & your instruction is impeccable. Thank you!!

      Josh Tracy hi Josh sure we have been thinking of doing one, it will be a big video and may have to split it up into a few parts as there is a lot of components and elements that go into such a simple device. Watch this space and we can maybe start filming it soo for you
      cheers Ben

      Ben & Lois Orford that’s great Ben! Once you do, and I can follow along and build one, I’ll have to order a draw knife from you. So, you will have to get those back in stock too 😂

    That’s awesome! This is something I’ve been wanting to do for a long time, years. I just didn’t know what it would take. But now that I see this video I realize I don’t have any of these tools. You’re gonna have to make me one man! Spatula and a spoon. 🤞🏻👍🏻

    As someone who dislikes modern technology I admire your workshop. Mine is outdoors, it seems we have the same layout however. But I live in a country that never rains or sees snow (Australia) so I can work outdoors safely, the only issue is bushfires and the occasional monsoonal floods, sometimes fire floods, when everything in the country five foot high is underwater and everything over five foot is burning. Something we've experienced just recently.

    Hi Ben, any wood to avoid when making food utensils?

    • @BenOrford
      @BenOrford  4 роки тому +1

      Richard Putman sure I would avoid coarse open grained woods. Also woods like yew or laburnum which can be slightly toxic if still green. Fruit woods are great as well as birch and sycamore. Hope that helps cheers Ben
