It's not too surprising to hear Matt was the one who asked for those changes. He has an odd distaste for cartoon-like qualities and slapstick, despite his own show being, well, a cartoon. DVD commentaries show him acting disgusted toward certain gags or jokes just because they weren't grounded in realism. So to hear that he wanted the game to look less like the cartoon isn't a huge surprise at all.

they should've let the PS2 stayed like it in the retail version while the other platforms have the open worldness it had in the alpha build they do this kind of thing in other games like the GTA series like adding polygon fingers and custom soundtrack
To bad this game will never be re mastered or even re released because sega filed a lawsuit against Radical Entertainment although I personally would call this game a parody rather than a ripoff of Crazy Taxi

What was happening at 4:08? It looks like Homer picked up a plutonium rod but it didn't seem to do anything. Also is it possible for you to rip the HUD map from the alpha version (shown at 5:18)? It looks more detailed than the final map. By the way, great work. I love finding out about history of games and the stuff we never get to see in the final release.

E3 Version is much better because you can drive throughout all Areas of the video game. Damn you PS2 for having problems with The Simpsons Road Rage. Bad thing the game is not for PC. Someone could mod all the levels over the original design connectioned into one huge map. I wish I could play the E3 version and Alpha version of this video game.
yEvery Jon I agree, it could take time to figure out the data formats that Rad used (I just know that "Cement" is an internal name of theirs for some of their tools and formats at the time), but it could be easy to edit other details like the positions of each destination and character, I also remember that many game scripts were stored as lua scripts, unobfuscated, so we could have fun with those too. Would be cool if the devs actually maintained the world coordinates across all these separate levels, so it could be merged easily. Judging from the minimap being continuous, I think that might be true. So it could be made easier because of that. But still, it would be easier to just copy the map data from the alpha build. I think the creator of this video would do a great service to game archival by just publishing a copy of the game.

the previous Simpsons game that came out, Simpsons Skateboarding, had the same texture look as SRR E3. I am glad they went with the whole 3D look, I know it's an unpopular opinion.
interesting how the developers had the Simpson's lisince and hulk lisince after this they went on to make the hulk movie based game and then Simpson's hit and run and then hulk ultimate destruction. Whats wierd is Disney owns both properties as they own both marvel and fox. also Sega suied radical for this being a crazy taxi rip off but when the other hulk movie came out Sega had a hand in making that film's movie based game in 2008 and it sucked
A Simpsons racing game wouldn't have to be a kart racer, would have been funny if it was like Ridge Racer or other such similar games. Perhaps Need for Speed. Maybe a free roam racer like Test Drive or Vette! I think the devs were stuck on a one track mind there a bit. So the textures were a bit of a rush job...no wonder they look awful in some places. I much prefer the more cartoony look.
