    Just incase you guys were wondering, we work on lots more than ball handling. I have just been putting out lots of ball handling videos because that's what EVERYONE was asking for. If you have a request, let me know.
    If you are following on Instagram, you will see in the future videos of passing, help defense, moving without the ball, etc.
    Please check out the video on instagram about on ball defense and read the caption. I think it can help players out big time, provided that you work towards it.

  • @ib3scope
    @ib3scope 10 років тому +11

    Hey all. If you aren't at this point yet or are even at square one, here's what I believe will help you. Step one in developing handles is being able to dribble, in general. Grab a ball, check for proper inflation by dropping it from your waist or so and letting it bounce back. Let out or pump in more or less air as necessary. After that, start dribbling with both hands. Remember to use your finger pads in a comfortable grip. Develop your ability to dribble to the point where running whilst dribbling and making quick cuts is easy. If you can do this, I believe you are ready to begin learning to handle the ball. Perhaps the most basic of all semi-advanced ball handling moves is the crossover. To perform the crossover, get low and jab in one direftion, either left or right and at the same time, using your finger pads, push the ball viciously to the other hand. The trick to this comes with time and practice. Like all ball handling moves, there's a rhythm and it just takes time to learn this rhythm. After learning the crossover, one should progress to the between the legs dribble. Part one in learning to do this is to do ball circles. Take your balk and using your fingertips, get comfortable making both clockwise and counterclockwise circles around your thighs, knees, and ankles, on both sides of your body. Then, process to making figure 8's, going front and back. The tricky thing about this dribble, is getting the footwork down. It will come with time but remember to stay on the balls of your feet, as you pass the ball through your legs. Finally, to develop basic handles one should know the behind the back dribble. Assume a low stance, close distance between your fingers and perform a crossover, without moving, behind your back. When you can do all these moves at a decent pace, stationary, you're ready to start doing them while moving. That's where this video picks up. Sorry for making this so long, and good luck!

    Devin looks so smooth when he dribbles! I wondered if that's just his natural movements or if it's because of practice??? Lol

    • @ib3scope
      @ib3scope 10 років тому +3

      Yes I noticed that too. I believe its because he has been in a streeball environment since his youth. Children subliminally copy the body movements through mimicking, of those around them. That's why I believe Trevor and Mello's handles are partially the way they are.

    Honestly I love how in this video, you have Tommy in it and showing him struggle. Plus this is the first time you have player that's not as good (at least in the ball handling department) than others. No disrespect to him just your showing the different types of players and the different skill sets they have. Like I said, no dire spect to anyone and thanks for the video, just thought id let you know what I thought.

    What I would love to see is a detailed video on how to shoot threes. I can make my mid-range, but either miss short on threes, or completely off the side. I tried more power to the legs, the sweep and sway, nothing really works for me. Is upper body strength important? Should I work my arms' strength?

  • @IWantMyVisionBack
    @IWantMyVisionBack 10 років тому +2

    What is the in & out to you specifically?
    I thought it was dribbling the ball with your hand moving in a circular motion. But the way Devin does it, it looks like a hard pound dribble then you bring the ball slightly to the right or left and drive. The way Matty does it is the way I described (the circular motion).

    • @SieghartPercy
      @SieghartPercy 10 років тому +1

      The in and out is a loose term there is many ways to do it. But in all variations it is faking a crossover and bringing it back to the same side. The first way is the circular motion, bringing the hand over the ball is spinning it all in one dribble. The second is two dribbles, one in and one out. I think a third one could be possibly turning your body a little bit to the left if you have it in your right hand, pound it as if you're going to change to the left side and just bring it back to the right side and drive.
