In my opinion, KOF 99 has the best atmosphere of the entire series. Just look at the 'Continue?' and 'Game Over' screens of this game. Perfect 10/10 👌 The stages are great. The Garden, Museum, the Sewer, the Airport and Krizalid's Stage are my favorites. Finally the soundtrack is amazing! KD-0079, RYU-KO, 176th Street, W.W.III, SHA-LA-LA, Mechanical Bliss, Dear Fallen Angel, Tears are my favorites. I enjoyed the music of KOF 99 more than the music of KOF 2000 As much as I like KOF 99, I have to admit the gameplay and game feel is not great. The Dash foward is weird. The Strykers needed more polished And the special moves and Supers take longer to activate. Also many characters were nerfed a lot, (Joe, Shingo, Andy, Yuri for examples) Something interesting about KOF games Not all the games were made by the same development team For example. KOF 97 was made not by the same team who made 96 KOF 98 was made by the team who made 96 KOF 99 was made by the team who made 97 That's how the original SNK worked Thanks to anyone who has read all this comment, have a nice day ^_^
Kof99 is the best in that regards. The delay on some supers were I think an attempt to keep the game balanced. You get meter like crazy and your supers become HDM at low life. I think they wanted you to go into Max mode and special cancel into supers or use strikers to connect supers. It was clunky as hell though and some choices made no sense. Why the hell was Terry's power geyser so fucking fast in this game? But it became the slowest super in Max mode lol.
KOF 99 could have been better IMO. It was the start of the nests saga and introduced new characters such as K' whip and Maxima. KOF 99 was K' debute! However, I feel like KOF 99 is rather generic and dull compared to the other KOF;s. I believe the best KOF games in the 90;s series was KOF 96 and KOF 98. KOF 97 was alright but somewhat lacked a strong character roster. The stages are more detailed and better designed in KOF 96 and KOF 98.
The thing i love about KOF 99 is that the SDM actually feel in character with the name they have, it really sells the idea that they're desperate and they're giving everything they've got as a last resort

My favorite protagonist in KOF The Dark Hero 🔥😎 I like all the newcomers in KOF 99 Whip the heroine of the NESTS Saga and the best female protagonist in all the series. Krizalid is an amazing antagonist and the best of the NESTS Bosses, his theme rocks and like his backstory with K' and Whip. My only complain would be his design, his outfit of the second phase...looks weird. He looks better when he wears his coat. Maxima, best bro and a cyborg. Cyborgs are awesome. Bao is cute. The second shota in KOF, the first one was Chris. Jhun is cool. A would prefer seeing him returning in KOF XV instead of Kim to be honest. I wish KOF returns to the teams of four members

Even though some combos have less damage than other but the art of execution of these characters are so exciting 💥💥 Ralf, king, bao, kensou, k, takuma,kim, drunken master(name forgot 😅), andy, xingfai... There have great visual effects to play with... I love this game since i was 5
