Molly I confess, I’ve been watching videos of my favorite painters for over 3 months and I’ve not done one painting. I have just purchased paints and canvasses and I think you all have given me the confidence to get going! I love your work so much!
Yesssss Janet! Just jump on in! It is so much fun and so liberating! Have no judgements, dont be hard on yourself and enjoy the process! Let me know how it goes! Find me on social media and send me a pic!
Love the black, white and silver colours! Going to try something a little similar later, though i'm quite sure it won't be anything like yours, but that won't matter - it'll be mine! (and I can always scrape it!!!) Thanks for the inspiration!
These colors make a really spectacular painting. I wish you could have left those fantastic stripes. They made something really captivating. I would have hung that on my wall. The final kaleidoscope is fine ... but the mid point was great!
I always love your collender pours, they are so neat looking. But this one is my favorite, because of the colors! I have said the same to my mom several times (She does this kind of painting too. Actually, she is the one who got me watching you because you are one of her inspirations 😉). Anyway, I love the black and grey! 😃
Holy cow!!! It's gorgeous!! I tried this technique once....it was a disaster. I was going to reuse the canvas but it got damaged so I put it in the garbage. Somebody from the city dump returned it...said it was too hideous to put in the dump. 😅
I have tried repeatedly to get this affect and I've gotten close several times. I'm not sure what I do wrong. I've used more expensive brands of paint and followed your video instructions to the letter pausing to make sure I'm not missing anything. I'm sure it will happen someday, I hope. I have a question, when you removed the colander the design looked a lot like a foil , I thought it was beautiful. What if you get to that point and don't want to lose that look? Can you add paint to the edges of the pour (maybe black) to stop movement of the paint and keep it centered and cover the remaining bare area on the canvas, or will the original pour flow over the newly added paint? ❤️ Your videos! Thanks for sharing your gift with the world!
Not sure where you but almost any grocery store has them. I got mine at a local dollar store and they sell them on Amazon but if you have a Dollar Tree store near you that's the best way to go. Same quality but only costs $1. Good luck. !!!
Holy cow, watched 3 of your shows where you had square boards and l have to admit l would like to do it with the round boards. What a creative form of art. Been crafting since l was a teen, and am amazed at what there is to try. Love it.
Did my first pour today onto a coated out phonograph record using 4 colors. Got one of them a bit to thin but for a first time not bad. Now about the stirring. I sped the process up by duct taping half of clothespin to an old drill bit and putting it into my cordless drill an mixing time was just a few seconds.
Found your channel today and absolutely LOVE your work. I am new to pouring and I am loving it. You have given me 2 ideas within first 2 videos of yours I have seen. Thanks!
Beautiful painting!!! Pinterest has an insane amount of inspirations, especially if you search the right things. I was given a challenge by a classmate in Cosmetology school for a hair color design. I searched abstract roses and butterflies. I went and bought the colors and my mannequin had the same colors with a funky design. And these wicked florescent and neon pics came up. I've even gotten a lot nail art designs or ideas from there. I was in Walmart today, I saw the $0.88 colanders in the grocery section on an end cap. If anyone is having problems finding them in the store, check out the grocery section where they sneak in the kitchen gadgets.
Meringue pie! Great description. Maybe think about going with it as an experiment. Perhaps white, parchment and Naples yellow? As an aside I do use the flow for my dutch pours and I think that once opened it may help to store the bottle upside down on its cap. Seems to reduce the lumps from developing by restricting air from entering the bottle.
That would be beautiful resigned with a thick layer like a glass casing to make a little table. Can you do another 3 color colander pour with primary colors. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I am into photography and I love the grayscale here. Often I like greyscale and vintage looks. I have a friend who does painting with coffee grinds and this lends an awesome vintage look. Anyhow... this is very nice. Wonder how a like pour with a simple splash of 1 color would look?
You just have to find the right consistency that's really the most important thing about this poor but it is difficult a lot of people have trouble with it keep trying now I know you can get it
@@MOLLYSARTISTRY yes i eill eventually get it!! The last one i did, the design held together till the very end then disappeared. Would that be a pouring mrdium issue? I just used floetrol.
Hi Molly. I love your paintings. I haven’t tried pouring yet. Just keep watching. Bought some supplies. I notice you don’t use Floetrol. Is that because it makes it too thin? Is your medium for sale? And, in one of your vids you mention a discount on paint. I could not find it. Which paint is your fave for the colander pour? Sorry for all the questions. And, thank you!
I really love it. Gotta try it too. Btw. Artist Loft white is aweful. I suggest getting a large jar of Liquitex Titanium White and mix it up for yourself. AL seems a bit chalky and clumpy.
So I have been a landscape painter in the impressionist style... So I have done some landscape backgrounds and then created the forest for ground using the strings and chains dipped in paint and pulled through with a canvas on top and they are coming out nicely. So now I am toying with the idea of doing a big sky landscape and then do the sky in a pour and see if I can create an interdimensional effect? Any thoughts?
Another stupid question. Could you do a flip cup in the center of the colander to get a less mixed color pattern? Like just flip the cup to the center then let it drain out of the cup into the strainer and strainer to canvas? I just love your videos, your calm, unpretentious and calming to those of us who haven't yet taken the leap. lol
Amazing, the colors stayed separated, not mucky gray. Very nice, thanks or sharing! I am wondering what quality the varnish brings to the mix? What is it's role in the kaleidoscope pour, or do you use it in all your pour techniques as a matter of preference?
👋 Molly. Well what a huge array of Greys , Stunning. Your blobs may be the dreaded floatral 🐛 I strain all my mixtures as NZ is along way for shipping ! Karen NZ
Thank you! Yes I strain my floetrol as well, I think it may have set up or it came from my cup or sticks as I reuse them all lol! Yes, NZ that's a long way to travel! Wow!
I have planned on using those same colors in a pour but was thinking the same thing about the black & white making gray & how the metallic silver would play into all of it. Oh and I notice that it i get a lot of "goobers" in my paints no matter what brand and I discovered it's from the Floetrol, not sure if the are just older bottles in the store or if it's just from the floetrol that dries around the top after pouring & then falls down into the whole bottle but that's my theory on the issue. Lol.
Yes, I strain my floetrol though so I think there is something going on with the artist loft white. Ir it was left over from my sticks or cups as I reuse them. The silver showed up when it dried, but only because it is metallic.
@@MOLLYSARTISTRY ahhh I also use the artists loft white so could very be my issue also. Lol I don't strain my floetrol but probably should start doing that. I just keep LOTS of toothpicks on hand to pick them out. 😉😉😉 I also reuse my cups & stir sticks so could be any of those for me. Lol
I just started watching your videos. I really want to try your colander pour method. But what I really want to know is where you get your little stands you put your canvas on.

Yes try! I have been thinking about it, but I think I will have to pour one, stretch it til it doesnt move then do the other side because I feel like the design will get messed up otherwise! Let me know how it goes!
Can you clarify? You said when people take your class they use "your paints and pouring medium". Does that mean Creative Inspirations paint and the medium and varnish with floetrol? Or does that mean you have your own line of paint and pouring medium? thanks so much!
Thank you. Can you clarify what you meant then when you said students use your paint and pouring medium? Do you use creative inspirations paint with your students? Do you use floetrol and the matte medium and varnish as your pouring medium with your students? Just trying to figure out what you meant in your video. Happy pouring! Xo
I watch you or your reruns every morning for inspiration.
