I admire your house very much. I think the solar system you installed is Hybrid, it uses ESKOM as a base and solar as a backup. So it is not off grid. The Kw it produces is 5Kw, not 50Kw. You're local ESKOM must deal with issue of power supply. There is no load shedding anymore. The problem with villages is ESKOM is unable to determine how much energy will be required in future because there is no town planning. Maybe you have issue of load reduction caused by insufficient infrastructure. You and your husband are inspirering me. Thanks for the video.

My Parent's are currently building in Limpopo and I'm happy for them. Building in the village is worth it guaranteed you know what your getting yourself into. Like if you choose to build in the villages where you need a Chief's permission and the legalties that come with it. Then you have an option of building or renting in small or big Towns where you have to pay to a local municipality. Your house n home looks spectacular ❤

Good morning cc this is so helpful we are currently building our village home in KZN when we started the project we had water all was good, as we speak we haven't had water in our village for the past two years and borehole in KZN are so expensive. project is on hold because we need to do the plastering and it require lots of water. hubby and I we still saving up for the borehole which is +- R200K then we can continue. you give me hope every time you do a vlog on your village home, that one day I will also complete mine. That inverter is very smart if you use it correctly. You can supply power from solar panels to the geyser during the day by using coils supplied with the inverter.

I am asking because last year people back home at Kuruman experienced a devastating natural disaster of heavy rain storm and winds as a result most houses suffered damages to the roofs and windows. Everyone that i asked did not have insurance but all the people i spoke to did not have insurance because they never initiated getting insured. I always wonder if houses at the rurals (beautiful homes ofcourse) are insurable or not. Im also on my own journey to start building back home (currently in the last phase of fund savings)

Yes, you can get insurance. But it is not as affordable as for my jhb home obviously because of the security reasons. When you are in an estate you tend to pay less and also depending on the neighbourhood you live in

The roof caught fire, the theater complex, the ICU, the High Care had to be evacuated. The theory is that, due to the extreme heat the solar panels overheated and caught on fire. So So scary.

Well this is in rural villages of South Africa where this house is and they have power reductions. We don’t have power cuts in the cities& urban areas which is majority of SA…glad Lesotho rural villages have 24/7 electricity though😅

@@MmaMohau the roof sheet you used is IBR. They are different, others poor quality and after months colour fades, so one has to be careful where to buy, or get someone who knows how to differentiate the sheets, as they sometimes scam by mixing both good and bad quality, yours is good quality.
In my area (suburbs), the thieves steal solar panels from the roof. I fear the trend will spread to other areas of the country. I have had to upgrade my security system to detect intruders externally. I have 8 cctv cameras, but they evaided them like they don't exist. You only see shadows. These people took their time to plan the burglary. It is heart-wrenching to get your hard-earned property stolen in a few minutes.
There’s low demand for solar as Eskom loadshedding has ended.it was a short term trended demanded and now solar companies are going bankrupt because electricity is back 24/7 now. What rural areas are experiencing is load reduction which is due to most really not paying for electricity and this will hopefully resolved as Eskom’s full infrastructure expands to rural areas
My grandparents who have a rural homestead in EC have a waste hole/dug up pit and they burn it at least once a week in that pit. All villages mostly do that I think. Only village commercial centres get collection from municipality garbage collectors and not the actual village homes, like we have in the cities and urban areas. Rural homes don’t pay rates, they’d need to pay rates for that to be done for them
But we don’t have loadshedding now, and haven’t had it for months. so is your village still experiencing it or you are experiencing poor service delivery from your local electricity supplier. I was at my grans in EC for a week and they had one electricity reduction scheduled and it lasted 2 hours…agree borehole is a must in rural villages though. You seem sorted either way but the high costs are hopefully coming down as solar demand is at its lowest now, companies going bankrupt as they hedges on Eskom being down for much longer and they were overpricing
There's no way you can produce 50kW with 8 panels not even with the latest ones, you probably meant 50kWh of energy not power which would be 50kW. Assuming your panels are 400 watts each that would be 400 watts x 8 = 3200 watts(3.2kW) of power and with 10 hours of sunlight it would be 24kWh of energy. If they were 500 watts each it would be 4000 watts x 10 hours producing 30kWh, maybe you get more hours that's why but it's not 50kW but 50kWh(units). I did however take note that you said you did not understand them properly.

Yes the inverter is hybrid but, It depends on how you set it up. You can use Eskom as backup.

We did that but Eskom disconnected us. It has to be authorised by them
The one done by electrician is not allowed,no one is allowed to temper with eskom box unless they work for Eskom.

Limpopo and Mpumalanga boreholes range from 18k to 30k at most. Find other contractors and research more.

Rural homes don’t pay rates, they’d need to pay rates for that to be done for them
We have a dumping site in the area and there are people who collect from homes and you pay less than R50
But we don’t have loadshedding now, and haven’t had it for months. so is your village still experiencing it or you are experiencing poor service delivery from your local electricity supplier. I was at my grans in EC for a week and they had one electricity reduction scheduled and it lasted 2 hours…agree borehole is a must in rural villages though. You seem sorted either way but the high costs are hopefully coming down as solar demand is at its lowest now, companies going bankrupt as they hedges on Eskom being down for much longer and they were overpricing

There's no way those 8 panel generate 50kw as you said and there's no way you can get 10kw and still be swapping between geyser and and
There's no way you can produce 50kW with 8 panels not even with the latest ones, you probably meant 50kWh of energy not power which would be 50kW. Assuming your panels are 400 watts each that would be 400 watts x 8 = 3200 watts(3.2kW) of power and with 10 hours of sunlight it would be 24kWh of energy. If they were 500 watts each it would be 4000 watts x 10 hours producing 30kWh, maybe you get more hours that's why but it's not 50kW but 50kWh(units). I did however take note that you said you did not understand them properly.
