- Often health care professionals conduct a variety of blood tests to determine if someone has leukemia. Leukemia patients often have decreased levels of platelets, white blood cells (WBCs), red blood cells (RBCs), hematocrit, and hemoglobin. Other tests such as bone marrow aspirations can reveal an increase in immature blast cells. Learn how health professionals classify leukemia by staining sample tissue with a dye and by looking for chromosome translocation. Created by Nauroz Syed.

I've been diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, thankfully, after a long road of treatment, now in remission. My initial symptoms were acute hip pain, on one side, then the other (I thought it was something to do with the bed just not giving me enough support) and the biggest symptom was being completely exhausted just going from one room to another, the effort was like climbing Everest, I was exhausted easily and not able to recover quickly by breathing - I wasn't out of breath as such, but breathing didn't help me recover, it took about half an hour of rest. In the end I collapsed after shaving one morning, just from the exhaustion. If you have any of these symptoms, please get a blood test, that's how they found out what it was, then they did a bone marrow biopsy to confirm. Hopefully, nobody ever has to read this.
"Skin looks a lot paler" -> Decreases opacity. kek
I've quite pale feet and I confirm they become invisible in the dark
I thought it was because of the increase in white blood cells ?
First I thought I had leukemia, but when I saw this video I was relieved. Thank you!
I don't have the roses or fever but I have the rest of the first basic symptoms. should I be worried?
+Sophie Holmes wait I might have the fever idk though
My brother had leukemia, even twice, but survived.
ookkonaaoulusta wow..congrats...
ookkonaaoulusta what symptoms did he have?
This is clearly explained by the RN/NCLEX, general practices, practitioners all fields of studies are efficient, orderly, well coordinated with one another respectively. MCR/Chemist, Clinicians/Virologist, GastroEnterology, Bone specialist- medical sciences.
isn't pale or pallor skin, skin that looses is color not gets darker??
Yeah they messed up the color change

Good one. Just to make one clarification- at the centre of long bone there’s yellow marrow which consists of primarily fat with few cells, but the ends contain red marrow. Usually bone marrow aspiration done from manubrium sterni or iliac crest (red marrow) for easy access. Thanks for the content.
Excellent!
thank you so much for such easy explanation
Thank u madam, From India, Msc Nursing lecturer helped me a lot. especially about chromosome translocation.
Thank u madam
Shridhar Hodlur good news..how does it work to get back normal chromosone connection
please god save us from all deasies
Hi doesnt Acute lyphoblastic leukemia produce a positive result for both tdt and common ALL antigen (CALLA)? so does the tdt hold true for all lymphoblast? like CLL would prove positive for a tdt as well?..Great comprehensive videos otherwise!
super helpful, thank you!
Thanks! U gave a succinct overview about leukemia, I’m really having a hard time understanding wbc value. Sort of confuse cause some of the lecturer said increase wbc and some decrease wbc in leukemia, they forgot to emphasize the physiology of leukocyte... thank a lot! 👍👏
Thanks, clearly explanation
All my symptoms going to the doc today
a little off topic but your handwriting with the mouse is better than my normal handwriting.
I doubt she's using a mouse, you can hear her press a pen against a pad when she is writing, most of these videos are made using some sort of drawing software whereby you can draw digitally on a pad of some kind.
Ah, well I feel better about myself thanx.
Great video, thanks for your efforts!
I have bone and joint pain like 10yrs. I am also like easily get tired
Well, im making a doctors appointment because i have most of these symptoms...
Are you ok?
Are u fine now
@@MrShreetam turn out it’s not thankfully, but I have a heart condition where half on my heart doesn’t work which can’t be cured so that’s fun :D

I just got my blood cell count back from my general doctor. Everything else is fine except for my absolute monocytes which is 1442 and my absolute eosinophils is 525. My blood well Count on everything else is fine but those two got my rly worried. Should I worry about cancer?
My dr thinks I have a form of Leukemia. 0.07 immature granulacytes which is 70% if I understand that correctly.. Elevated neutrophils, elevated monocytes, low lymphocytes, elevated mch, low platelet count and a lot of symptoms. I had rapid weight loss 2 years ago that has stopped. I get night sweats every once in a while. Vision issues, bone pains, kidney issues, tinnitus, dry mouth, dry eyes, vertigo. I also have hypothyroidism.
What’s to the think about high myelocytes found in blood?
CMML cancer is one cause. Polycythemia vera is another.
So all it takes is a single bone biopsy? Where does it need to be taken from? Spine? Developed a few broken bones in spine and ribs for no reason. Is it paInful? For how long? What is the size if the biopsy sample? Do patients develop multiple cysts with leukemia?
If I'm not mistaken they do what they call a bone marrow biopsy and sometimes they do a bone marrow transplant and i heard that it's extremely painful and it's taken out of the hip bone. You can look it up to make sure. Because my cousin and my grandmother had 2 different types of leukemia.
Cysts are common. A bone marrow biopsy is performed on your hip bone. As far as pain goes, It depends on your pain tolerance. It hurts, but how much depends on you.
What if I am just extremely fatigued and have high white blood cells

WOW THANKSSSSS
Could a CBC come back normal and still have cancer?
Is 60 percent lymphocytes per a blood test smear automatically diagnosed as leukemia?
I have all the mentioned symptoms
How are you to this day, regarding your health?

Wat couses diagnosis
what happens when WBC is 11.9 but the rest is in normal range. does it indicate leukemia too?
No, that alone doesn't say Leukemia.
Full form of that protein??
Is this concerning in a 9 year old boy
WBC 3.7
RBC 4.12
HGB 11.4
HCT 33.9
Neutrophils 34.3%
Lymphocytes 56.6%
MCV 82
MCH 27
MCHC 33
Everything else is normal including platelets which is 300
Lymphocytes are quite high
Hey... how are you doing?
Any updates?
Does he currently have an infection?
MPV is high but platelets are in normal range!
How much low level of haemetocrit indicate leukemia?
Hematocrit is just 1 of the blood tests that will be abnormal. Low hema can mean a lot of things.
what if u only have some of the symptoms|:
I am too concerned about this damned petachiae. I have localized petachiae but no other symptoms and living normally. What are your thoughts guys? Thank you🙂
Possibly your platelet cells are a wee bit low. Wouldn't worry about it though x
Hi, I have a question, even if I'm awake or I don't always get enough sleep, can I have leukemia?
Anyone can have Leukemia. Insomnia is caused by a lot of issues.
Actually I made a cbc a my rbc was high my hemoaglbin and platelet so is normal but my monocytes is 10.6% 15 years -male I have headaches doesn’t go also
