Nice job Hollie! I've been teaching my 14 year old daughter to weld for a few years now! I encourage both my girls to try anything that they are interested in!!

Great job Hollie!! Many years ago, for a few short years, I was a welding supervisor in a manufacturing plant building aircraft de-icing equipment. Your welds are looking good!! Great to see all those guys come in and help!! Great people!! Looking forward to seeing the finished project!!😃

You did quite well welding. Congrats. A couple suggestions. You may want to get a magnifier for the welding helmet. It all depends on YOUR eyesight and how big or small the parts are you're welding. I TIG weld a 1/4" pin on the end of a 10 mm bolt and use a 2.5X magnifier so I don't mess up the threads. A 1.5X or a 2.0X magnifier would probably be fine for you. Also, do your best to keep your hands and "mittens" (gloves) clean. Dirt transfers heat quickly. Jeff, a former certified welder

Welding jokes aside, learning how to weld really opens up the thinking process. From how to chose stock, how do I cut this into what I want, to making a sketch, and how to undo a mistake. From making a template from a pizza box, to rubbing a cold one on your forehead, you'll learn the tricks of the trade. Also the valuable advise of an experienced fabricator can save you hours or even days of work undoing a mistake. It is an art form and seeing a project come to completion is quite satisfying.

Hello Hollie, I'm a 68yr old great grandma and I love you and your channel. You are such an inspiration for all young women. I did some drag racing in my youth but I really wish I was around the crawling area . I love it! But I also love speed! Keep doing your thing n I'll keep watching
Matt did go and supply Lizzie before. The red Jeep in the back of the shop looks just like the old brush truck I used to drive as a volunteer fire fighter in rural NC a LONG time ago.

Geez, I knew Ed was running the off-road recovery business and various gold claims out west, but I had no idea he also had a fabrication business in TN. Ed is a heck of an entrepreneur.

This is soooo cool! Holly and Matt on Carmack Blvd in MY neck of the woods. I never thought i would see that since Tennessee is so far from UTAH.
Once you’re a welder you can fabricate anything!! You have great teachers and it’s a great trade to learn.

Worms generally means you're going to fast for the heat setting, too much wire for the heat setting. Essentially not enough penetration. Or in my case I found my 120v unit needs a torch preheat to start laying better beads.

Nice bead for a newbie, Hol. Definitely stay with it. It is an invaluable skill that serve you well for many years and in many situations. Rory at Trailmater has a rig built into his incredible tow truck and does on the trail repairs. Backs up to whatever's broken and zaps it right there in the dirt, on the vehicle.
That'd be nice when you are 12 miles in and something could be welded to make it good.

I strongly suggest taking a MIG class at your local Technical school...it's a lot of fun and you learn some of the Technical aspects of welding and practice. As a bonus it's super cheap. Be prepared to work on a project

Holly your welds are better than I've seen done by guys who have done it much longer. Practice makes perfect and I think you had a couple of good teachers. When you watch Matt teach Lizzie and how fast she picked it up you can tell he is a good teacher.

y'know what would be cool, get the dark glass from an old school welding mask, so you can film welding and see it like the person doing it sees.
