Man this is so god damn cool.... its going to bring so much immersion to this game, especially at night. Id love to see some kind of setting where you could set a "hard ceiling" for the AAA where when you dropped below that ceiling for a certain amount of time (say 10-20 seconds) their fire would become more accurate and focused on your aircraft. This would create another reason to operate they way they do IRL and practice real techniques for attacking from a above a set altitude.... man.. so many awesome possibilities.. thanks spud!
The polygonal trigger zones are really a great addition and leads to a lot of possibilities in mission creation. Annnddd...seeing Spud's enthusiasm about triple A barrages is nice... As always.
For a nice variety have the individual S-60 in a group spread between positions and group clusters of 4-6 guns from 4-6 different groups. That way they shoot at different zones from the same "AAA emplacement". If you have time and are a bit deeper into the ME, you can put a couple of different "Fire at point" actions as triggered actions and have them switch zones randomly with triggers, every 5 or 10 seconds adding even more variety to the barrage. 😇 ...one could even sync trigger zones to "fire at point" actions, so the barrage targets a specific area when a plane enters a certain zone... I need to get into testing that this evening. 🤔
The streams of flak should be visible in the dark of night without using NVG. I remember downtown Bagdad on the opening night of Desert Storm. Watching live on TV it was hard to believe that any aircraft could fly through it without being hit. Since that time I've see video taken from aircraft on the same night from several miles out and it was highly visible without NVG, and it was terrifying. High pucker factor. You could be temporarily blinded by NVG. To me the intensity of the lumens has to be increased considerably. I would love to hear comments from anyone who was actually in the air over that target that night.
They should add formations for spawning, takes a lot of tedious work to put troops in a good position as oppose to what they spawn as a straight line. We could have maybe a key thatll set a circle and different formations for the troops.
I haven't started playing yet, but I figure night vision was automatically feature in the program. I assume other countries didn't have night vision experience till now.
Do you guys know if all the units can now fire at night? I noticed for example that a simple ZSU-23 would refuse to open fire as soon as the sun goes down ... even though we still clearly see its target.
@@Spudspike Lovely!, it's funny how the old AAA can be the most fun and dangerous enemy at Mach 2. Kind of hyped to attack some ammo caches with the A-7 or A-6 in some "unknown" jungles. One day may be.
@@Spudspike After looking for it, I actually don't know what is a "firecan"(I guess some napalm weapon for obvious reasons XD) . There are a lot of soviet AAA guns that are actually unknown for me, and I'm sure they could be a nice addition for DCS, even the 14,5 mm's ones.
Great video! Having issues getting the barrage effect to work for me. Used same general location and units as depicted but no joy. Anything in system settings that could cause the effect not to render?
Not sure if this will be seen, but for the life of me, can't get this working as detailed in DCS 2.8. Have followed your tutorial exactly, but the AAA never fires crossing the trigger zones. Have tried and swapped AAA systems, and nothing fires. Ideas?
If I was going to take a wild guess I’d say it’s Probably a big or something but if not then all I can think is the NVG’s magnify the small amount of light given off so you can see them. My guess is it’s a bug tho
God that night vision is so bad. Why won't anyone come up with a real NVG engine, that amplifies ambient light, and not just a high gamma green overlay. Blech. And, this wasn't supported before? How long had DCS gone without even marginally realistic AAA fire? All that said, props to you, sir, for knowing the "Go Downtown" reference. AND laughed at 6:49 "Eagle Dynamics is a European country." I mean, it'd be a cool one if so.
You rather sound like a promoter Spudknocker. All the nice graphics won't fool that the most important aspect isn't added to DCS: a dynamic campaign. What's with all the cool graphics if DCS is just empty?
@@LoneRangerUK1 Ah crap... Now it makes sense. Can I download the open beta version and use the existing files of 2.5.6? The updater might download whichever files are necessary. Or do I need to download everything from scratch?
@@JunaidAli-ws1li Sorry for the late reply . Yes it will use files from the stable release I have both installed the update was under 7 gig for me but i have all the maps and modules.
You guys have NO IDEA how long I have wanted Cold War Era flak guns in DCS World! AND we get Polygonal Trigger Zones?!?! AMAZING!
It looks awesome!
Can you rotate the polygonal zone? Is there a tool for that?
Hey Spud not only you was waiting for this. It looks awesome like the whole 2.7 update 👍🏻
Awesome feature! Is it possible to use it with mist and select map objects as targets without using the script line?
Likely as long as myself... This is such a game changer for strike missions, especially at night!

Yep, you said it all: enforcing Real Life procedures to the sim. Very good indeed.
Good to see you are enjoying it, thanks for sharing.
Absolutely loving it man! I cannot wait for more AAA additions in the future!
All I can say is Desert Storm!!!

Your uploading videos like FLAK Barragges hahaha love it😄

Great video, keep these tutorial vids coming, Spuddy! Huge help!
3281' == 1,000 m (about the only metric conversion I actually have memorized, haha). This is amazing and should make for some great missions!
Dude this is incredible... I'm finally playing with the new clouds and I am one happy camper!
Aweosme man!
Nice Spud "And as Always" I would like you to show more features.😀
There are going to be alot more Skyhawks being clouted! This update is phenomenal!
Reminds me of flying Hawks around Baghdad in 05. Looked just like that.
2.7 is awesome so far!
Downloading DCS now after watching one of your long flights :)
Same! 54gb quick quick :)
seriously, I've been waiting years for this!
Thanks,
Great Video!
I miss the barrage that you get from the old Microprose F-15 Strike Eagle III. The tracers doesn't seem as bright at the moment.
Been wanting this for a personally made campaign and mission.
Please include a video about the air battle of Mansoura
Please do feature vids like this of any new feature. It's good to get a quick overview and how-to. Cheers.

We just need some big cold war soviet AAA
I believe KS-19’s and firecans are next

For your fire at points, why not have one battery shoot at multiple points? you can have that battery swiveling around more efficiently that way.
Can you add searchlights with this too? If yes, could you explain!!!
Thank you!!
Can't wait for the guns only hide-and-seek in the clouds :D

Yep!
@@Spudspike Yep isn't a valid answer.
I also wondered why they flak isn't visible in the dark since real flak I've seen is visible to the naked eye in the dark.

Moose has had Polygon zones for years..
So fu$#@king Awsome.
Just been trying this. The new 57mm works a treat. Can't get it to work with the 23mm though?
Have now managed it. Range is v short but it works well at ends of runways (got a Tornado in 1991!) Set alt 1000m and distance within range circle.
