- Look at this gorgeous Atari POLE POSITION Arcade Game...and details about it. Did you know they made a half hour cartoon series based on this game too? Also, see an Atari GAUNTLET LEGENDS 4 player game that is going to a Brewery arcade! Its pretty nice! Warning...you may get hooked with the POLE POSITION Theme Song!
You always knew there was a pole position at an arcade when you hear that start sound over and over and over. It always overshadowed all the other game sounds.
Yes...that start up sound always brings back memories!
I remember when I thought Pole Position's gameplay, colors and graphics were so great back in 1981. Still a great game
Got to love old 80's Cartoons. Never heard of the cartoon either till watching this video.
dvddmc Ditto until "Trackball" told me!
My God I spent so much on this game back in the day... That pole looks great. Just how it was back in the day. Love it
Thanks!
Wow, Todd finally to get someone on other end of line with an rotary phone . This is first time I seen this.
John Riopel YOU need to watch some of my older videos! Watch Bally's MEDUSA Pinball for a TREAT!
Love the middle finger running joke in alot of the vids...You guys shoot so much stuff you can set up all sorts of zingers...I'm sure there's hidden inside jokes we have no idea about going on in some of these
To keep things politically correct, some stuff doesn't ever get on camera! The boys do lots of clowning when camera not running, to.
I wish I can work at a place where I can goof around and have fun lol while throwing the finger in the air haha
I used to love the Pole Position tv program when I was a kid. I also had Pole Position on the 2600. I'm looking to get the Arcade cab one day.
+Shundi12 There were so many made and quite a few have survived!
I had a bunch of pole positions and the store owners used to complain because the machine would be attract mode and constantly "beep" :) but it made money :)
rarecoolitems The attract can easy be turned off....so that would have solved it!!
Pole position is classic, I've heard from game collectors that it's a real hard game to maintain. They tend to break down easily.
Riz2336 Yes...if they are not reconditioned like we do!
You dudes need a tv show, these videos are awesome.
chstacy33 Boy, we have been trying....
Good to know! Keep it up!
TNT Amusements Inc try Netflix or Hulu don’t give up
Hey Todd! Love Atari's Pole Position and PP2. Great video as usual!!
Arcade Hollywood Thanks!!
Todd, you are a very entertaining fellow. I enjoy your videos very much. You should contact the History Channel and see if they would produce a show for you. If a pawn shop can get a show, so could you!
Beautiful Pole Position.
Had no idea your old nickname was Sire Trash.
Todd: I'm in charge .....
Frank: Just what color is the sky in your world?
Tell Frank to work on his comedic chops .... comedy gold!! More Frank please!! He explains things well.
HerrKlugscheisser Frank is a very funny man and comes up with stuff on the spot!
Did Frank have any schooling in electronics or did he pick most of his knowledge up from being a hobbyist? Does Frank collect both video games and pins also? Thanks. I would love to do this work, I think with some training I would be able to do maybe a little. The closet thing I've done was build my own gaming PCs in the 90s. I used to be a die hard gamer, me and friend would get the best motherboards best hard drives, best RAM, best video cards,,etc and put together are own PCs. But I've never soldered or worked on an arcade game. The closest I came to that was getting a massive shock from an older Shuffle Alley early to mid 70s model that I will never forget 😁
Damon0306 Frank reads these comments...will let him answer!! Frank???
Awesome vid as usual guys!
clawchamp Thanks!!
totally forgot that show till now , and all the women in those shows were cute of course ... I see Frank has returned :) if he sticks the Macarena music in there that would spell doom
Lee Bartholomew what Todd need to do is get a rubber band on his left hand and that finger ring and pinkie are all mashed. unless he's using his right hand shouldn't happen again :E
Todd, when you poke around in the guts of the machine are there places you never should go. I'm a bit scared, so I'd like to know all the places that are not safe? Have you ever done a safety presentation? I want to be safe!!!
dratoe Any high voltage you should stay away from if you are not sure where its coming in. All machines have it present in different places...the monitor always has it around the tube.
I didn't know about that show. That sounds like when Kenner Toys turned down the ET movie toys and now regrets it. Now Kenner is owned by Hasbro.
Lyle Johnson :-)
7:50 ABSOLUTELY! =)
couldn't remember that scene...but Pam and I watched it just now...she never saw it before!
Tap three times like Dorothy clicked her heels. Makes one wonder. :-)
Lyle Johnson :-)
WORKS IN A DRAWER!
GlAcKeNbUrGeN No drawer on these games though!
classsss! had a good laugh
Pole position i remenber oh my godness. Here in brasil total sucess.
Fabio Santos Yes...brings back memories!
They are starting to bring out solid state HD for computers. The size will have to go up and the price come down.
Pro tip, you can easily defeat the first race without using HI gear.
6:48 LOLOLOL!
Bimmy Lee :-)
;)
Is the little lip for the glass on the gauntlet legends a piece from disassembled switch?
Edmond Niemczura Yes...thats right! Perfect...it even has the hole!
TNT Amusements Inc haha, i knew i recognized it, as I too look to recycle parts and find new/different uses for them.
In charge of....doughnuts??
belfry43 Yes...these boys are MEAN!
In charge of Shtick...
How much for an original Atari Break Out cabinet
well, as is not working, needing restoration, very low in price...perhaps $200...
Where did you guys find the new cpo?
Kevin Mitchell Jeff at Classic Arcades!
how much would a GAUNTLET LEGENDS cost to get one?
TheBigboy607 This one was $1399...however, he bought another game and got a $100 discount.
I think the cartoon is so misleading from the game. Catchy tune for sure. Game World back at home had a PP. Too bad arcades in Canada have gone the way of the Doodoo.
uniroyalbarrie the flat rate arcades may return...wait and see!!
15:56 you forgot to say a new cheap power supply 😃😤
Damon0306 :-)
Damon0306 $20 or $80 price alone can't tell me if it's good or not. and I have a PSU tester , 2 of them non techy type (LCD screen) the Logisys works fine $20 big black 450 watt says 550 watt but thats BS. As for Pam, she's the money person. That seems to be normal. Mom saved our butt when dad was having issues. Alas he didn't know mom had saved up money (as in collected money as in the dollars were in order brand new) but had to use it) but as dad didn't know I guess that was a sin :( do'h. she saved his behind but oh 2-3 yrs l8r still steamed. I don't think you two keep things from each other , if so she might have a whip O_O
What do you do if you can't put your initials in with the gas pedal on Pole Position?
jtathec It means the "pot: on the pedal is out of adjustment.
Is it easy to adjust or should I just replace the pot?
Just fixed it! Thanks for your help.
jtathec Great!
Midway and Namco were not such good buddies after Midway began whoring out the Pac-Man IP to no end behind Namco's back. That's why Atari (and later Atari Games) started distributing and manufacturing Namco's machines in the US.
Funny enough, after Atari split to Jack Tramiel's Atari Corp. and Warner Communications' Atari Games (the coin-op division), it would end up being owned in part by Namco. Time Warner would purchase them yet again in the mid 90's, before being sold to WMS (owner of Williams and Midway). Atari Games was renamed Midway Games West in the late 90's, and all of Midway eventually went bankrupt in 2009. Know who bought all the IPs for the Midway/Williams/post 1984 Atari Games IPs? Warner Bros... AGAIN.
Marc Marta Some people never learn!! :-)
didn't finish the can't change my initials etc (this should be obvious some nut probably unplugged the peddle right? is is there a dip shhhhh.. switch
Lee Bartholomew for those thinking this. awww he does but right at the end......
Haha love the 80's. This other Pole Position tune was pretty good too! ua-cam.com/video/Sd-Po882ir8/v-deo.html
MrRem7600 Never saw that one either! Will use it on NEXT Pole Position we sell!
They just used the name of the game for the cartoon. It was nothing remotely close to the arcade game whatsoever.
At least PAC-MAN, Donkey Kong, Q-Bert, and others, resembled the actual game to a degree.
(Except the cartoon version of Q-bert wasn't a raging foul-mouthed character as the arcade game was.)
The show does have a following though!
Odd. Names can mean everything, I guess.
pole position: awesome cartoon, mediocre game
Majoras But, but, but......
