A big part of it is actually the tuning, He Tunes in E flat standard, then drops the 6th string down to B flat, So power chords make a low octave. It fills out more sound and makes it bigger
@@alansmithy2152 Yes I have. Last year I purchased their album "No Comfort." I like their sound but the songs don't click with me like those of older Pentagram.
Bobby was a born metal-god. the fact that he's just recently been discovered again, is akin to finding another Lemmy or Ozzy. such a cool enigmatic figure.
Just finished watching Last Days Here and im almsot crying... its so touching seeing this guy being rock bottom for so fucking long and managing to pull it trought, get the recognition he deserved with his music, meeting a good woman to love, and managing to form a family!
Well... he divorsed, his parents are in the hospital and apparently he is back on drugs again -.-.... but on the bright side he is still touring. Hopefully he will get his shit together again.
What a fantastic, magic moment this concert was. I was there, in the crowd, totally possessed by the music. Back in the 90's no one cared about Pentagram, Saint Vitus or any old school Heavy Doom band, I was one of the very few who listened to that kind of Doom within my friends, who were more into Doom Death (if not Black Metal of course). I knew maybe 5 people in Paris who worshipped Pentagram, Saint Vitus, etc... Not many more. Back then, I thought I would never see them live, really. This gig was litterally the definition of a dream come true, I enjoyed every second of it and was carried away by the magic. Eternal respect.
Not entirely true mate. I'm Irish and there was always a doom following in the 90's . Maybe you were a bit young to remember Trouble, Iron Man, Electric Wizard, Eyehategod, My Dying Bride. stuff like that.
By listening n watching all those f great bands getting the sound they always deserved just makes my doomed face smile! Death rows intro always sounded like a bloody grinder doing its thing. Always wanted to say that btw
Holy shit, how have i missed this performance all these years? Gotta be one of the best Pentagram shows of all time. Heavy as hell and every member is dialed in. That guitar tone!!!
+Rob Trevino Indeed, but the credits for this guitar sound should be given to Victor Griffin. Nobody else sounds like that, not even the guitarists substituting him in Pentagram sometimes. To be honest, I don't want to see Bobby without Griffin, as I don't want to see Ozzy without Iommi.
At least two metal legends are on this video: Bobby Liebling (great performance!!!) and Victor Griffin (the most acomplished Tony Iommi alumni ever, good as always).
Great to see artists come back from hardship in their lives. Truly inspirational to me. Not only to my visual art but also to the fact I’ve been on a musical hiatus for too long as well and as I’m getting more into playing my guitar and singing again Pentagram just so happens to be just the right push needed for me. Nothing has made me happier than to see this band come back. Truly amazing for rock and for metal and for punk rock as well. And what an amazing comeback. Truly the story of the century in my eyes for rock n roll. I can’t even just say metal cause rock covers it all. And yes, agreed that doom metal forefathers they are.
I was there, through the entire set. I remember texting my mate, who was listening to something else, also on Hellfest. I wrote - "Holy shit, the guitar sounds heavy as all fuck..!"
Victor Griffin is the guitar player, he is a awesome human being as well as a great musician. Victor is and has been a huge positive influence to Bobby..............and hey it doesn't hurt he can rip shit up on his guitar ;) God Bless you Victor
Wow. That really gave me the shivers. I don't remember hearing many guitarist as heavy as Victor Griffin is here, though Matt Pike and Buzz Osborne come to mind. His guitar sound definitely reminded me of Osborne. He's really frickin heavy.
Matt Pikes Green Matamp tone from the early to mid 90s was some of the best. Matt and Victor are 2 top tier graduates at the University Of Iommi. Doctors of Heavy Riffage and Doomology.
I wondered what ever happened to the cast of Spong Bob Square Pants when they got cancelled. Now i know where Squidward ended up ! But seriously - this is killer music. And I know a guy that used to hang with Bobby. 'Nuff said.
A lone soul at night sits and bays at the moon Though sometimes he's a man it's a Pentagram Shogun blasts as he runs with the wind But he just can't win it's the Pentagram And now don't know how but it's happening to me Got the love from above but it's happening to me Black cloud hangs and it just won't leave though he wants to believe it's a Pentagram Hard to conceive and he tries to perceive but he's destined to grieve it's the Pentagram Now don't know but it's happening to me Got the love from above but it's happening to me I can't turn back now Stories unfold but they've all been told When he sold his soul to the Pentagram And to end his life though the silver is old He will reach his goal by the Pentagram And now don't know how but it's happening to me Got the love from above but it's happening to me Tell me one more time It's alright I can't turn back now Cause it's the sign of the wolf
... Timelessly wonderful Piece of traditional heavy doomed music from Mr.Bobby Liebling and his Horde. ;) Thank You Hellfest. So, glad that Bob is in such great Condition. Doom on Guys! Thank you for all you´ve done to me in all past years. Stay healthy.
That second song!!! How Heavy!!!! Why didn't I know about these guys till yesterday... My favorite sport in high school was bong hits and I could have really used some Pentagram records. My bad.
What is it about that unique Pentagram guitar sound that makes it, well, unique? Can't put my finger on it but I dig it. Also, Liebling is yet again proof that to be successful in metal as a singer you need two things: an original sounding voice...he's got that for sure...and the ability to sing in tune...check. You don't need power pipes...those can be cool too...or a huge range. Just a unique voice like Liebling's will do. His style is made for the music he brewed up back in the 70s.
I don't know too much about Bobbys past but I hope he rocks out now and for the rest of his days I still think the original boys should be playing together not that there is anything wrong with the new Pentagram I just love the original sounding Pentagram either way I love them.
9 years later and this guitar tone is rocking the house!
What a massive sound!!
I just found these guys! Holy shit, what the fuck have I been missing!!?!?
A big part of it is actually the tuning, He Tunes in E flat standard, then drops the 6th string down to B flat, So power chords make a low octave. It fills out more sound and makes it bigger
Got Bill on the drums, Hank on the Guitar and Bobby on Bass. You got it all together man.
This is the craziest Victors tone ever sounded, geez.
Man, that guitar tone. Some modern doom bands should take notes.
smrgn645 The tone is so thick, you could pour it into a glass and drink it, but you'd probably choke on it.
I have to say that at least one of them has taken those notes; have you ever listened to a Swedish band called Monolord?
Alan Smithy monolord still doesn’t have what this tone is.
@@alansmithy2152 Yes I have. Last year I purchased their album "No Comfort." I like their sound but the songs don't click with me like those of older Pentagram.
Buy a Big Muff . Problem solved.
Bobby was a born metal-god. the fact that he's just recently been discovered again, is akin to finding another Lemmy or Ozzy. such a cool enigmatic figure.
It’s sad that he made a junky out of himself all those years he was in the dark.
Yeaahhh!
He is a self sabotaging junky who ruined his original band’s chance. Not cool at all…
@@norseman3514 yeah but now its ok its on music again and it is great man
This is probably the best live footage of Pentagram I've found on youtube \m/
1:10 - Death Row
5:41 - All Your Sins
11:10 - Sign of the Wolf (Pentagram)
Valeu brother.
Pedrada!!!
I can't believe there's only one guitar, that sound is HUGE!
Just finished watching Last Days Here and im almsot crying... its so touching seeing this guy being rock bottom for so fucking long and managing to pull it trought, get the recognition he deserved with his music, meeting a good woman to love, and managing to form a family!
+Lucas Gianoli That's old news. I wonder how he's doing now? Rock on Bobby!
Well... he divorsed, his parents are in the hospital and apparently he is back on drugs again -.-.... but on the bright side he is still touring. Hopefully he will get his shit together again.
Lucas Gianoli Hopefully he has a brain cell left!
Lucas Gianoli Sorry to hear about his parents, did you get that from the doc?
From an article about him

Beautiful! Pentagram rules!
Same thing for me when I saw them in San Francisco, completely punishing!
same happens to me a few days ago a dream come true in argentina

@Patrickmohan2220
Very true! And these bands and their likes toured a lot back then.
one of the many underground "sabbath like" bands from the early meatal era. this is real metal my friends and fanatics
By listening n watching all those f great bands getting the sound they always deserved just makes my doomed face smile! Death rows intro always sounded like a bloody grinder doing its thing. Always wanted to say that btw

great camerawork, great audio, great resolution, great show.
Been a Pentagram fan for years, and its just awesome how the guitar sounds so fkn heavy. Bobby Leibling was metal's best kept secret
+Looney Runes TV i meant to say Victor Griffin sorry lol
That guitar tone can slice through a bundle of iron rebar like butter.
At least two metal legends are on this video: Bobby Liebling (great performance!!!) and Victor Griffin (the most acomplished Tony Iommi alumni ever, good as always).
i was enjoying this video until victor griffin's guitar tone made my house collapse. thanks pentagram.
Yes,Victor has the baddest ass tone in the music business
Victors sound this gig was/is unmatched, matt pike does not even come close
LOL LOL!!! 😝
I love the Tone of Victors guitar.
Just like Lemmy, done speed all his life and still alive. Dont know how this is possible.
+ChiefJustice Middleton well...
Genesis222777
I spoke too soon didnt I
+ChiefJustice Middleton yeah lemmy died in december
it's cuz he didn't fuck with speed, he was doing dope and coke.
i was referring to Bobby Liebling not Lemmy from Motorhead
Pioneers of Doom Metal, simply AMAZING!
Saw them yesterday in Oslo...fucking madness!!!
Tell me more
This guitar sounds like it was made just for my ears 😍❤️🔥🔥🇮🇳
So nice to see this clip! I was there!

Bobby you rawk!
This is freaking badass,no BS just straight forward Doom metal
Fuck that guitar sounds thick and good... exceptionally badass. Old school rules.
the backing vocals from Victor are amazing
Saw them on this tour, got proper stoned for the first time in like 10 years and was just sent to another planet!
I was kissing Bobbys boots hammered drunk in the front row two years ago...time of my life!
Bobby IS the king of old school doom to be fair. I would’ve done the same, carry on fellow doom worshipper.
Love the vocals and guitar. If you are a true metalhead you should me rocking to this uncontrollably.
Look into Bobby's eyes here. That is what metal is all about. Respect and love!
I was there, through the entire set. I remember texting my mate, who was listening to something else, also on Hellfest. I wrote - "Holy shit, the guitar sounds heavy as all fuck..!"
Great band
Will never get enough of Pentagram, Death Row, Place of Skulls, In-Graved....Victor's heaviness is unsurpassed!!!
That guitar tone, is so fucking badass! Killer \m/
F@kin Hell !!! That guitar tone is 💯🔥😯🔥🔥🔥👏👏👏🎶🎸
Bobby Liebling cured on the steps of deaths door for decades to arise as doom's front man king.
the guitar sound victor griffin's got nowadays is really awesome!
Victor Griffin is the guitar player, he is a awesome human being as well as a great musician. Victor is and has been a huge positive influence to Bobby..............and hey it doesn't hurt he can rip shit up on his guitar ;)
God Bless you Victor
Thanks for sharing this. Please share more of Pentagram. Regards from India.
Good production, especially I like that the sound is not too clean from the desk, but with all the audience noise, very authentic.
Pentagram are unique💪
thank you for this hellfest
I need to see them next time they come around!! Bobby sounds good... Hope it stay that way. Dudes been thru a lot
My favorite part is they've stayed true to their sound! It's still pentagram start to end
Wow. That really gave me the shivers. I don't remember hearing many guitarist as heavy as Victor Griffin is here, though Matt Pike and Buzz Osborne come to mind. His guitar sound definitely reminded me of Osborne. He's really frickin heavy.
Some one who gets it..

That tone is soul crushing.. So heavy
'you can't just enjoy the videos without one of your. Fxxxxxx advertisements ,commercials interrupting me'
That initial tone reminds me of 'Look Behind You' by St. Vitus with Wino on vocals.
Shivers. Victor just kills. The mix and performance are way better tha the original recording.
The evolvement from Bobby garage band punk to metal master !
Incredible tone!!!!!! Same as Goatsnake and vive versa. Bobby is Amazing as is the whole band🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Fuckin' tone!!! 🤘🏽😎 Alright!!!
What an epic footage! Thank you sooooo much!!
Long live Rock and Roll,...
I wondered what ever happened to the cast of Spong Bob Square Pants when they got cancelled. Now i know where Squidward ended up ! But seriously - this is killer music. And I know a guy that used to hang with Bobby. 'Nuff said.
Glad to see Bobby finally got himself cleaned up. They sound fucking awesome!
Priceless!!!
Thanks a lot for sharing this!!!
A lone soul at night sits and bays at the moon
Though sometimes he's a man it's a Pentagram
Shogun blasts as he runs with the wind
But he just can't win it's the Pentagram
And now don't know how but it's happening to me
Got the love from above but it's happening to me
Black cloud hangs and it just won't leave
though he wants to believe it's a Pentagram
Hard to conceive and he tries to perceive
but he's destined to grieve it's the Pentagram
Now don't know but it's happening to me
Got the love from above but it's happening to me
I can't turn back now
Stories unfold but they've all been told
When he sold his soul to the Pentagram
And to end his life though the silver is old
He will reach his goal by the Pentagram
And now don't know how but it's happening to me
Got the love from above but it's happening to me
Tell me one more time
It's alright
I can't turn back now
Cause it's the sign of the wolf
tremendo bobby! que sigas haciendo escuchar a pentagram de esta forma
Pentagram...Right On!!!
Dude makes me happy.
