Im pretty sure that one of the creators said that the grey and 2d animated short would have a similar tone to what they would've done with ninjago if they're primary audience wasn't kids. So imagine the tone and feel of that short but with actual ninjago. that would be peak as hell! but sadly i don't think they would every do that or can do that with the ninjago characters even if they wanted to.
