They dropped two colonies and Char tried to make the Earth uninhabitable. Yeah while the Feds may have destroyed a few colonies it's nothing compared to what Zeon did on their own with nukes at the start of the one year war. When the "Spacenoids" use genocidal means to win freedom they are going to be repressed and it wasn't until the second time it happened that an organization was made specifically to control them. The Feds are corrupt but not genocidal.

Well the Feds was focusing on a few project to mass produce while zeon tried to mass produce everything and wasted their already scarce resources to a over engineered weapons. In the end upgraded zaku's was more useful but sadly it was already too late when they realize it.
More like the only wrong thing Zeon did was let the Zabi's take over after Zeon Zum Deikuns death honestly everything could have been prevented had Deikun not died and his ideals twisted by the Zabi's
The only real "good guys" are the individual characters. (And they come from either side for example Bright Noa or Bernie from WITP) if you want a particular side, then maybe the AUEG or even the League Militaire later down the line

And despite what Amuro, Char, and even Zeon have done, to this day, and said in Hathaways flash, the federation hasn't changed but instead has gotten worse. And it's almost like both the wealthy people on earth, and the fans dont really care.
One of my favorite things about Gundam is that they established the fact that no side in the the series is necessarily the good guy or the bad guy there's just good people and bad people.

What I find interesting about this is that the Federation has more resources then Zeon. But Zeon is in space! They have access to virtually unlimited raw materials compared to the Federation.
Well, there are other factors to consider saddly. Sure, Zeon has space - but the Federation has Earth and all of its established industry, manpower and agriculture. For Zeon to expand they need to spend years building new space colonies which takes even more resources - and you nee colonies for Agriculture, for Mining, Manufacturing, training of troops - its a whole logistical nightmare.

I'd assume any lies about limitation in the OG universe would have came from earth born aristocrats about what couldn't be accomplished. Because it would completely crush whatever money they spent on maintaining control of that resource.

It took years for the Federation to move Luna II into Earth's Orbit to be used to help build space colonies, and the same is so for every other asteroid brought into Earth's orbit like A Baoa Qu, Solomon, and Axis. Remember, while Zeon DID have a long time to prepare, war can very quickly strain supplies - and when half of the human population is killed in the first few months alone, that can have a dramatic effect on the economy. Not just the colony drop - but think of all of the space colonies that were destroyed in the early months of the war. Also for your last point - Earth was very aware of the resources of space. Its no secret that by UC 0096 Earth was far more dependant on the colonies than they were on Earth, which was why they had to fight to maintain order for so long. They keep the colonies in line with fear and propaganda - pointing to the Zabi family for being space nazi's. If the OYW went differently, if Zeon were pure in their intent to free the colonies and NOT drop them on Earth, we'd be looking at a better timeline in the Universal Century...
That's why they lost, but about eight months before they lost they remembered the Federation also had all the nukes and could vaporise them a hundred times over so they signed a little bitch treaty despite already having dropped a colony.
I want to say when the Zabi family took power was at most 10 years before the One Year War and the ships used during and around that time aren't Star Trek or Star Wars levels of speed so getting access to other planet's resources takes way too much time. But also the power struggle between the Zabi family members didn't help the Zeon war efforts do to in fighting.
I'm not sure they could have.The one chance they had was the complete success of operation British. Once the Federation's warmachine got up and running there was really no stopping it.
Al Lefrancois if they hadn’t wasted so many resources on developing wonder weapons and instead focused on developing a beam weapon compatible ms early on, they probably would have succeeded. Barring that, if Ramba Ral had got his doms, and defeated the gundam, they also probably would have won.

The personalities are what they are if you change them then you likely don't have the war to being with. Very similar issues can be found with the Nazis (whom zeon is actually based off of) a very big reason the Nazis approached the war the way they did was because of their ideology if you change that then there likely is no war
Al Lefrancois exactly, it’s much like the Germans in WWII. They couldn’t have won, they were in a losing battle. Revel only reinforced the Federation’s strength with his “Zeon is Exhausted” speech. They didn’t have the resources or the pilots. (Especially after Solomon and other high casualty battles.) Many of their aces were dead, and the ones that weren’t were being thrust aside. Kycillia thought a newtype unit would win the war, she stopped focusing on oldtypes. Zeon also had way to many mobile suits variants, but when they realized this, they had no time to fix it. The United Maintenance Plan was too little too late. It was a step in the right direction, but at that point it was useless.
While I dont nesccisalry love zeon, I dont hate them either. In fact I'd say I have more respect and empathy even to be conpletley honest with Zeon more than I do the federation. I dont like most of the Zabi family, and I more empathize with Zeon in General. They honestly feel more like underdogs to me more than anything. There is nothing positive to come from a story about Space Nazis winning a war that began with them slaughtering billions of civilians. If nothing else, it would result in similar bullshit: Federation remnants committing egregious acts of terror against civilians, Anaheim Electronics working to supply both sides of the conflict to ensure that Zeon could never fully rout the Remnants, the Earth would likely still see colony drops like Operation Stardust (because the Zeek trash would have occupied the Earth for farming and other resources that aren't readily available to the colonies, and the Feddie remnants would have sought to break the Earth's biosphere in the exact same way that Zeek trash did in 0083). You can have have sympathy for the individual Zeek trash, but they support an objectively shitty cause led by shitty people who do not give one solid shit about spacenoid independence or human rights. As with all dictators and fascists, it was about power, and using others to secure it. Marida is an example of just how worthless the newtypism bullshit peddled by Zeon himself really was. In the end, newtypes were tools that could be found and employed for war, by the Zeek trash first no less. And if they could not be found, the Zeek trash went out of their way to MAKE women like Marida (and then send them to brothels as children when they didn't work out). The message of Gundam isn't that the space nazis should have won, or that the Feddies were all good. The message of Gundam is that human beings are monsters who exploit and destroy everything they touch, and our only hope is to find a peaceful way to break the cycle. None of the violence committed by either side actually has resolved ANYTHING. No good outcomes came about from Zeon starting the war, or the Federation ending it. No good outcomes came about from Stardust. No good outcomes came about from the Titans OR the AEUG. No good outcomes came about from Zanscare's reign of terror. Not anime - most of the video here was used from the Japan-released video game "Gihren's Greed" and "Gihren's Ambition". A Strategy game where you can play as the Feddies, Zeon, Axis, Titans and so on during the course of the Universal Century.
Gundam without politics, war, failures of older generations and hope for new ones, miscommunication and lack of understanding, grey morality and multiple perspectives but most importantly people living and breathing in this fictional world is nothing more than a toy commercial. I wish this franchise could simultaneously move forward why getting back to it's original idea.
Neither - many of the clips you saw are from a Japanese-exclusive game series called Gihren's Greed. Its basically a Gundam strategy game where your actions can shift what happens in the war - from weather or not Zeon wins or looses, to weather or not certain characters like Garma and Ramba Ral live or die by supplying them with what they need - for example, if you get Ramba Ral his Dom's he can defeat White Base.

I personally blame M'Quve's incompetence and Kycilia Zabi's poor timing to kill Gihren. See Kakarot197's video which pretty much outlines the whole thing.
Being outnumbered 30 to 1 did it alot, really bad supply lines coupled with an over reliance on limited production wonderweapons. And of course the might of the Gundam Mass produced. Informally known as the GM. The mass production model was slightly faster than a gundam due to a lighter armor frame, but it was still much faster than a zaku or gouf. They were also more manueverable than a dom, and their beam weaponry made them a match for even gelgoogs even if they had inferior speed and manueverability. Considering only 78 gelgoogs were ever even made, the GM was quite the deal breaker for zeon. When they arent being piloted by actual drafted children of course.

They dropped two colonies and Char tried to make the Earth uninhabitable. Yeah while the Feds may have destroyed a few colonies it's nothing compared to what Zeon did on their own with nukes at the start of the one year war. When the "Spacenoids" use genocidal means to win freedom they are going to be repressed and it wasn't until the second time it happened that an organization was made specifically to control them. The Feds are corrupt but not genocidal.

Well the Feds was focusing on a few project to mass produce while zeon tried to mass produce everything and wasted their already scarce resources to a over engineered weapons. In the end upgraded zaku's was more useful but sadly it was already too late when they realize it.

I don't understand why everyone thinks the Federation is all good, when in reality, they've been in the wrong more times than Zeon has been in the Wrong. And despite what Amuro, Char, and even Zeon have done, to this day, and said in Hathaways flash, the federation hasn't changed but instead has gotten worse. And it's almost like both the wealthy people on earth, and the fans dont really care.
One of my favorite things about Gundam is that they established the fact that no side in the the series is necessarily the good guy or the bad guy there's just good people and bad people.

What I find interesting about this is that the Federation has more resources then Zeon. But Zeon is in space! They have access to virtually unlimited raw materials compared to the Federation.
Well, there are other factors to consider saddly. Sure, Zeon has space - but the Federation has Earth and all of its established industry, manpower and agriculture. For Zeon to expand they need to spend years building new space colonies which takes even more resources - and you nee colonies for Agriculture, for Mining, Manufacturing, training of troops - its a whole logistical nightmare.
@@117Jorn The asteroid belt ringing our system has more resources than anything you could possibly find on earth. I'd assume any lies about limitation in the OG universe would have came from earth born aristocrats about what couldn't be accomplished. Because it would completely crush whatever money they spent on maintaining control of that resource.
@@jbreitz87 You are partially correct - the Asteroid Belt has the resources, but just knowing its there doesn't making getting them any easier. It took years for the Federation to move Luna II into Earth's Orbit to be used to help build space colonies, and the same is so for every other asteroid brought into Earth's orbit like A Baoa Qu, Solomon, and Axis.
Remember, while Zeon DID have a long time to prepare, war can very quickly strain supplies - and when half of the human population is killed in the first few months alone, that can have a dramatic effect on the economy. Not just the colony drop - but think of all of the space colonies that were destroyed in the early months of the war.
Also for your last point - Earth was very aware of the resources of space. Its no secret that by UC 0096 Earth was far more dependant on the colonies than they were on Earth, which was why they had to fight to maintain order for so long. They keep the colonies in line with fear and propaganda - pointing to the Zabi family for being space nazi's. If the OYW went differently, if Zeon were pure in their intent to free the colonies and NOT drop them on Earth, we'd be looking at a better timeline in the Universal Century...
That's why they lost, but about eight months before they lost they remembered the Federation also had all the nukes and could vaporise them a hundred times over so they signed a little bitch treaty despite already having dropped a colony.
I want to say when the Zabi family took power was at most 10 years before the One Year War and the ships used during and around that time aren't Star Trek or Star Wars levels of speed so getting access to other planet's resources takes way too much time. But also the power struggle between the Zabi family members didn't help the Zeon war efforts do to in fighting.

Al Lefrancois if they hadn’t wasted so many resources on developing wonder weapons and instead focused on developing a beam weapon compatible ms early on, they probably would have succeeded. Barring that, if Ramba Ral had got his doms, and defeated the gundam, they also probably would have won.

The personalities are what they are if you change them then you likely don't have the war to being with. Very similar issues can be found with the Nazis (whom zeon is actually based off of) a very big reason the Nazis approached the war the way they did was because of their ideology if you change that then there likely is no war
Al Lefrancois exactly, it’s much like the Germans in WWII. They couldn’t have won, they were in a losing battle. Revel only reinforced the Federation’s strength with his “Zeon is Exhausted” speech. They didn’t have the resources or the pilots. (Especially after Solomon and other high casualty battles.) Many of their aces were dead, and the ones that weren’t were being thrust aside. Kycillia thought a newtype unit would win the war, she stopped focusing on oldtypes. Zeon also had way to many mobile suits variants, but when they realized this, they had no time to fix it. The United Maintenance Plan was too little too late. It was a step in the right direction, but at that point it was useless.

While I dont nesccisalry love zeon, I dont hate them either. In fact I'd say I have more respect and empathy even to be conpletley honest with Zeon more than I do the federation. I dont like most of the Zabi family, and I more empathize with Zeon in General. They honestly feel more like underdogs to me more than anything. They feel like people I could route for to a certain degree. And you can call that whatever you want, but in nearly every Gundam series I have watched, I always route for the Rebels. When I first watched the original, and even to this day, I felt conflicted with Amuro Ray. Not becuase he had so much plot armor but becuase I hated how ignorant he was. He sees Zeon as nothing more than fascists, as the general public sees them. But nearly refuses to acknowledge that the earth Federation weren't any better. That before Zeon, the colonies were being oppressed by the Federation. I more than often come to empathize with the rebels, ergo Zeon, becuase they, the rebels, are usually the first ones who are determined enough to take the first step to make a change in the world. A step taken by them, that I would argue without it, there would be no realization to the problem with the current system. The oppression done by the federation would most likely have not stopped, would never have been brought to the wider attention of the world, and would have gotten worse. I am not saying that all of Zeon are good people, and they are the end all be all for being "Heroes". OH MY GOODNESS OH MY DANG, that is not what I am saying. I do agree that dropping colonies on earth is wrong, and I always will that way, but the feeling of empathy comes generally from the empathy I have with people like, Zinnerman, Mrs. Loni, Marida, and Bernie. People who cant let go of the past, not just becuase they lost, but becuase people they cared about, had to be sacrificed for a victory by the hands of a Gundam, or the federation in general, which in fact, never does improve things. I actually wouldn't mind seeing a story in which Zeon actually won a war, and a positive change came out of it. It would honeslty feel alot more compelling then what is currently going on with UC. I like the tragedy and the "Glory of the Losers", but for me I feel like it might get old and frustratingsome time in the future becuase things stay the same.
There is nothing positive to come from a story about Space Nazis winning a war that began with them slaughtering billions of civilians. If nothing else, it would result in similar bullshit: Federation remnants committing egregious acts of terror against civilians, Anaheim Electronics working to supply both sides of the conflict to ensure that Zeon could never fully rout the Remnants, the Earth would likely still see colony drops like Operation Stardust (because the Zeek trash would have occupied the Earth for farming and other resources that aren't readily available to the colonies, and the Feddie remnants would have sought to break the Earth's biosphere in the exact same way that Zeek trash did in 0083).
You can have have sympathy for the individual Zeek trash, but they support an objectively shitty cause led by shitty people who do not give one solid shit about spacenoid independence or human rights. As with all dictators and fascists, it was about power, and using others to secure it.
Marida is an example of just how worthless the newtypism bullshit peddled by Zeon himself really was. In the end, newtypes were tools that could be found and employed for war, by the Zeek trash first no less. And if they could not be found, the Zeek trash went out of their way to MAKE women like Marida (and then send them to brothels as children when they didn't work out).
The message of Gundam isn't that the space nazis should have won, or that the Feddies were all good. The message of Gundam is that human beings are monsters who exploit and destroy everything they touch, and our only hope is to find a peaceful way to break the cycle. None of the violence committed by either side actually has resolved ANYTHING. No good outcomes came about from Zeon starting the war, or the Federation ending it. No good outcomes came about from Stardust. No good outcomes came about from the Titans OR the AEUG. No good outcomes came about from Zanscare's reign of terror. At best, these were all just kicking the can down the line and hoping the next generation could solve problems that the present generation actively refused to take responsibility for.

Zeon wasn't fighting for the freedom of all Spacenoids. If it was, why was their first target billions of Spacenoids living in colonies? A side that didn't even consist of a majority of all colonists decided, on its own, to attack their fellow colonists, then drop one of their habitats on Earth, killing untold millions more. They then proceeded to murder even more civilians in their attempts to "pacify" the Earth to secure its resources... to build more war machines. Zeon were objectively awful, even if some of the characters among them could be considered "nice people". They still supported, fought for, made excuses for a machine the slaughtered the majority of the human population.

In that quote I clearly stated the fact that Zeon Deikuns original ideal never involved superiority. It was exaclty about how space should be the prime living space of humanity and that the earth is sacred. That philosophy in it of itself is NOT a bad one. When I say Zeon was proven to be true later in UC, I dont mean Zeon the faction but Zeon Deikun. The federation ruined the earth ever more and proved him right, and people who became newtypes had a large capacity with Empathy and understanding for other human beings. I also stated that the only reason a person could see that idealogy as bad, is not becuase it is bad, but only becuase it was twisted by a greedy man to fit his dilemma. That dilemma being that Spacenoids were the superior race. Zeon Deikun NEVER supported that idea. He never looked down on the earth noids. He just saw that if humankind moved to space they would have a greater ability in empathy. And he saw that people on earth were ruining it. He was never going to start a facist regime and drop colonies on earth. He was going to start a rebellion for independence, not for superiority and mass genocide.

We have to work together to create a better world, it cannot be one sided. Second of all, you think I dont know what Gundams message is? I very much support and acknowledge its message. And I have, ever since I watched the first Gundam series I was ever interested in. I never have opposed its message. I only feel conflicted with it in Universal Century, and Universal Century alone. I can fully support Gundams message in any other Gundam series. I only feel the way I do in universal century becuase drastic change in a peaceful way has never been brought to light. The federations protagonists never feel herioc to me becuase they only "Talk the Talk" and do nothing else. Amuro ray, Bright Noa, and so many others come off as super idealistic becuase they seem that they focus too much on gaining the moral high ground, instead of actually changing the world according to their ideals. They constantly blurt out Gundams message as a whole, but do nothing to make that peaceful change. The only two characters in the entire Universal Century who have actually taken peaceful action, is people who were never even on the federations side to begin with. They being Mineva Zabi and Banagher links. Both of them tooks sides with neither Zeon nor the federation but instead formed their own alliances to bring about Peaceful change. They actually did something for once. They actually carried out Gundams core mesaage in every way. Mineva, and Banagher showed empathy and understanding to people on both sides, like Riddie, Marida, Zinnerman, and so many others. They were going ro create a world that was better for eveyone. THAT, is why Gundam Unicorn is my favorite Universal century series to ever be made in my opinion. The only reason I feel conflicted with Gundams message as a whole is becuase their peaceful measure were all for nothing. Even if they gave temporary peace for a certain amount of time, the leaders of the federation ignored this and went back to there selfish ways. Then they created the Hunters, which in turn created mafty. You'd think that they'd learn their lesson by now after all that has happened, but they dont. The reason I don't route for any of the federations protagonists, is because they feel very biased towards the federation. They support it, and fight for it no matter what it does. And ones like Bright with enough power in the federation to apply Gundams message about Peaceful change as a whole, absolutely does NOTHING. It makes the federations protagonists come off as Idealistic, Naive, and oppressive. The reason I like Gundams message alot more in alternate Universes is becuase they don't just talk the talk they truely intend to do something. Case in point, Gundam IBO. Despite how flaborgasted I felt after witnessing the fall of Tekkaden, I felt practically satisfied with the ending. Beleive me, you have no idea how much I wanted Tekkaden to win and get the world they wanted, but I am completely satisfied with what Kudelia Aina Berstein did using peaceful change. She created a better world for everyone, by applying Gundams entire message properly. It gives us the fact that despite the fact that Tekkaden lost the war, their fight wasnt in vain, and without them, the world they envisioned would have never come to light.
You should go back and actually read each and every one of me and Bangcats comments. No one ever said that what most of Zeon did was right, or that we love and support the Nazis, or any facist. We simply state that rebellion is needed and that Peaceful change has never worked in Universal Century. Even if it did, it was for an extremely temporary time, as the system refuses to change and people dont work together to make the peacful change they do in the world. Thats why we feel conflicted with Universal Century and state that Zeon was proven right in later years. You repeatedly ignore how much I agree with your statements and opinions. You repeatedly ignore the fact that I state thag rebellion was needed, NOT that "I love Space Nazis and Facism." Proper rebellion to me shouldnt be about Facism. Gundam without politics, war, failures of older generations and hope for new ones, miscommunication and lack of understanding, grey morality and multiple perspectives but most importantly people living and breathing in this fictional world is nothing more than a toy commercial. I wish this franchise could simultaneously move forward why getting back to it's original idea.

Neither - many of the clips you saw are from a Japanese-exclusive game series called Gihren's Greed. Its basically a Gundam strategy game where your actions can shift what happens in the war - from weather or not Zeon wins or looses, to weather or not certain characters like Garma and Ramba Ral live or die by supplying them with what they need - for example, if you get Ramba Ral his Dom's he can defeat White Base.

@@alexioskeskou1866 I believe they were from the PS2 - I sadly never got to play the game, but from what clips of gameplay I could find it seems like a fairly straight-forward game, if not a bit simplistic with how battles are carried out. I wish you luck in finding it.

I personally blame M'Quve's incompetence and Kycilia Zabi's poor timing to kill Gihren. See Kakarot197's video which pretty much outlines the whole thing.

Everything is Char's fault.
Being outnumbered 30 to 1 did it alot, really bad supply lines coupled with an over reliance on limited production wonderweapons. And of course the might of the Gundam Mass produced.
Informally known as the GM.
The mass production model was slightly faster than a gundam due to a lighter armor frame, but it was still much faster than a zaku or gouf.
They were also more manueverable than a dom, and their beam weaponry made them a match for even gelgoogs even if they had inferior speed and manueverability. Considering only 78 gelgoogs were ever even made, the GM was quite the deal breaker for zeon. When they arent being piloted by actual drafted children of course.
