For anyone living in the southern part of the US, USDA zone 7-8 and higher, Summer Snowflakes behave the same way snow drops do, similar look/effect (a little taller, similar to daffodil height and foliage). They bloom while the trees are still bare. The bulbs also don't need chilling in zones 9 or lower. Not sure what their lowest hardiness zone is though (zone 5?). I believe they are in the same family as snow drops as well.
I have done this with a large patch I have divided and moved around for the last 10 years and now have a “sea” of them throughout my garden. 😍 Don’t be afraid to divide them as Yulia did while blooming 😉 ❣️
I love snowdrops, I planted 100 bulbs last autumn and got about 85% that came up this spring. Anxiously waiting for the next few years to see them multiply. Nice to see you wrote a book. I’ll definitely check it out
This is such a GREAT video!! I have a few snowdrops clumps in my garden and didn't know that you can do this. I will definitely give this a try. Thanks so much for posting!
I have moved to this new house for 3 years and something made me so happy this year. It was about noticing some Hellebores behind my basement window facing downwards. You guys know that the flowers are a little shy to look at your face just like these snow drops, but I could see the flowers now. It was so exciting!! Try some of these beauties behind your basement window and enjoy.
Congratulations on the book 👏 I have purple crocus all over an area of my yard. I inherited my mom's place, her plantings are coming back every yr, since the late 80's.
That’s the best way to propagate and spread snowdrops. Eranthis would be a nice companion. They are also easy. When te seeds are ready you can spread them very easy everywhere. Crocus tommasinianus is a nice one as well, scilla are nice and blue. Maybe cyclamen coum works as well for you. Puschkinia scilloides var. libanotica is also nice.
I was so happy to see you pop up in my UA-cam feed today! I have missed your videos this winter and am thrilled to hear about your book! Congratulations 🎉😊!! I will definitely check it out. Your in-depth knowledge about specific plants like the snowdrops is really helpful so please continue to do these videos. Last year you made one about storing tulips which I found so helpful! Tulips are expensive unless you can get more than one season from them.
I planted snow drops for the first time last fall can’t wait to see them this spring. Thanks for explaining how to propagate you make it so easy. Congrats on the book can’t wait to check it out.
I have been adding these to my garden over the last few years, not ready to divide yet, but this video is very helpful when I have large enough clumps. Enjoying trying out the different varieties, particularly the doubles and the ones with the inverted green markings. These and the hellebores are my favorites this time of year!
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I would love to have a small field of snowdrops in my garden too, but the bulbs are rather expensive, so I think this is the way to go. Just divide them over the years. Definitely will check out your book :-)
Wow! An inspiration as always. I have been admiring mine and I only have a few tiny clumps. Now I have a vision; thank you! I’m going to check out your book. Happy almost spring!
A book!?!? Congratulations Yuliya! It is right on time as I’m about to revamp my front foundation beds. I planted shrubs that get way too big for the area so I’m transplanting them in a few weeks. There’s also some snowdrops in that area so this video seems serendipitous to me. Thank you!!
Snow drops are so lovely! I'd love to order your new book (congratulations and thank you!). Will you have PayPal enabled? I prefer to use that but couldn't get it to work.
Now I can understand why you hadn't posted as frequently as in the past. You were busy! I'm going to look up your book and add it to my collection. I love snowdrops. I hope to add some under a small tree just as soon as I decide on the tree. I want to replace a neglected and therefore badly shaped thornless Hawthorn tree in my front garden. By this time, we're so starved for color...even if it's white and green.
@ygarden- I love snowdrops and have a few and so happy to know about dividing them. Thank you! I have daffodils that I've needed to divide for years but can NEVER DECIDE when to do it! I'm afraid all times are the wrong time. Can you give advice or another video about daffs? Many have stopped blooming and I'm sure its because they are too crowded. LOVE your content!
I've always read that we are supposed to divide daffodils after they finish blooming and the foliage is about to fall off. I have divided before they bloom bc I will otherwise forget to do it for another year!
Thank you!! You can divide right after they bloom. but honestly whenever you have the time 😁 do not overthink it! they are more resilient than you think
I don’t have snowdrops in my garden, but I would like to see if I can get my hands on some this fall. However, I did plant some white squill (that is in bloom right now) that I’m loving.
I have only recently become acquainted with snow drops in the last couple of years. I planted some bulbs last fall and I’m thrilled that they came up this spring. Something is eating the flowers on one of them though - any idea what that might be? It’s too early for caterpillars, so I’m thinking earwigs, although I haven’t seen any yet this year in my central KY garden.
HI!! im looking to get my foot in the door with landscape design. are there any high-quality, in depth certificate programs you could recommend to me? I'm having a lot of trouble finding and choosing.
Hi Yulia , I’m in NJ , I love ur designs. Would it be possible that u could help me to redesign my garden bed ? Need a professional landscape designer consultation. Thanks
Perfect timing on the book & it’s beautiful! I put a call out to some local designers over the weekend as I will def need help with installation - I have lots of random ideas so this will help me understand key concepts, organize my thoughts, and also help me partner productively with a designer. I’d love if you worked in PA…but your book is next best thing 😊
I am so glad! The guide will be perfect to organize your thoughts, plan your outdoor spaces and act on it! nothing happens if you actually take the first step 😊😊😊 and good luck!
Congrats on the book and loved the video! I had no idea I could propagate snowdrops this way! You have given me a new project this weekend, thank you! ☺️
Beautiful. As always such great info. The book is great! I’m going through it now- so helpful and the pics are beautiful too.
Glad it is helpful! 😊🥰

Yes, Leucojums are very pretty! they bloom later for me, around end of April - May 😊
I think the crocuses are a great idea planted with the snowdrops. Congratulations on your book and sharing all you knowledge ❤😊❤
Thank you! 😊
Congratulations on the book. I think crocus will be a beautiful addition to your garden.

Thank you for such useful information on propagating snowdrops. Perhaps now l shall have more success 👍🧑🌾
Congratsbonbyour book!🎉 My question is:: do Snowdrops multiply by their bulbs, like Tulips or by flower seeds? You mentioned them seeding.
Both! 😊
I planted snow drops for the first time last fall can’t wait to see them this spring. Thanks for explaining how to propagate you make it so easy. Congrats on the book can’t wait to check it out.

Can we see an update on the growth of your arborvitae’s? 😊
Thanks for the Facebook suggestion! I found some snowdrops and winter aconite on eBay:)
Sounds great!

Wonderful!
❤Thankyou❤. I’ll be dividing some of mine.
Looking quite young from before.
Thanks for another great video! Have you ever considered native carex to grow under that tree? The bulbs would push right through it.
Snow drops are so lovely! I'd love to order your new book (congratulations and thank you!). Will you have PayPal enabled? I prefer to use that but couldn't get it to work.
I love your videos and know your book will be a huge success. Can't wait to download it. Is it available in print?

So strange! they are not favorite of pests - deer and rabbit resistant. maybe slugs? or like you said earwigs
Hello Yulia,
If I wanted to purchase a hard cover copy instead of a pdf how or where can I purchase?
HI!! im looking to get my foot in the door with landscape design. are there any high-quality, in depth certificate programs you could recommend to me? I'm having a lot of trouble finding and choosing.
I don’t have snowdrops but I do have snowflakes/leucojums. Could I do the same with those? Congrats on the book!
Yes, but leucojums are not as fussy and can be planted in the fall as dry bulbs.
@@greatgardensforall yes, they come up well for me. ButI need to move some that are going into a path. I guess I’ll try to move them now.

Yes!
Where are the videos, Julia? We’re waiting.🐝
Any plans to sell this e book in hard copy form?
