I used to wonder why I bothered photographing the mundane things. Looking back at those photos now, I know why. They remind me of the hilarious moments my husband and I have shared, the silly things our cats do, the late night shenanigans, or even just the time it was a chill evening over a glass of wine.
I love what you said around the 6 minute mark. The things you record don't have to be for social media, they can just be for you. A few years ago I bought an old GoPro, second hand. I'd take on it family holidays, I'd film stuff just for the fun of it. Now I love putting together clips of holidays or stuff we do. Some people have asked me if I'll ever take my filming and videoing anywhere, but this video reminded me that it's ok to just film those raw memories, just to look back on.
Those are always the best clips to have! Easy to forget these days because we are encouraged to share everything via social media. Thanks so much for watching!
My biggest regrets... 1. Losing most my videos in an apartment fire in 1995. Luckily 90% of my family videos were spared (8mm vhs). And all my photos were spared. 2. Not having a video camera for years. When my 2nd 8mm VHS camera died. It took 10 years before I started doing video again. I thought about buying another 35mm film camera, but not sure where to get the film or have it developed. Most places don't do or sell it anymore. I have tons of files I need to have printed.
what a shame about the fire. at least you still have the photos. and you can get film off of ebay & have it developed through thedarkroom.com/ you ship them your film and they will send back negatives and digital files (&prints if you want)!
ah man... absolutely love this. Something to be said about having all those photos and videos to look back on. Our memory’s can fade and fail us, but our photos will always be there.
I began to document my life almost daily since early this year after a breakup. I will finish my study and one by one my friends who've done are leaving. Suddenly, documenting all these people and my final year experience at uni seems like a task that is part of my daily things to do. Who cares when I already use 3TB of space. It sounds like a lot, but when I looked back to the year 2020/2021, I wish I had documented more during covid time because now there are some people and friends whom I won't be seeing anymore. I didn't record much because I was worried that I am going to fill my hard drive, but now I got the "disk space" but I can't "re-live" the lost year of 2020/2021.
THIS! this is the same reason I want to shoot videos. When I was looking through my old college photos, I got so angry at myself that why I didn't take more pictures, and why I didn't shoot more videos. one picture reminds countless memories and I laugh all by myself. it's such a great feeling. Also glad I discovered your channel today!
Awesome vid bro and what you say is so true! I always documented my life with photos growing up and pulled out photos from the pre digital age last week, and my wife and kids had a blast looking through photos dating back 20 years or more when my wife and I were dating and our summers together including a trip to Africa and looking at photos of those no longer with us....no one will ever regret taking candid shots of their life to look back on later. Like you said, many of those photos are just for me and I’m so glad I have them
Everything you shared, is my same perspective on the purpose I have behind documenting/taking photos as often as possible. Doesn't matter if it's your best work, create the catalog
i found old vhs films my mother filmed before and after i was born. i can't explain how happy they make me. as i was digitalizing them i figured, i dont have any videos or pictures of myself of the last 5 or 6 years.. i want to start documenting myself. this video tells perfectly how i feel. i skipped a lot, would love to see my development over the last few years again somehow.. but fuck it, from 2024 on then
Thank you so much for this video... It came right at the right moment. I realize that all this pressure of how things will look, or their purpose, drains all the creative sources in me and the whole inspirational process.
the little things are everything. and the individual can take/extract all contents of what makes a place, moment, atmosphere, event, vibe magical. And it can bring you right back into that era that you were in, and compare it to what you're like now. Excellent video. Btw, your website is very good. very sleek. is it hard to maintain the website monthly?
Noah this is like you were an old friend talking to me 😿 I "accidentally" fell in love with documenting my life a couple of years ago while filming life with some friends. Getting a haircut, an afternoon at the park, literally anything. Now I've tried to do it only for and by myself and it's been kind of difficult. Perfectionism keeps me numb. I often tend to blame on the struggle of self shooting with the p4k so I'm looking for a camera that helps me do this more easily, but deep down I know a new camera may help but it is not going to do it all by itself. Any advice would be very welcome. Anyway, thank you so much for sharing this! It is beautiful!
The pocket can definitely be a drag to carry around, I film a lot on just my iPhone! Whatever keeps it easy on you so you don’t have to think too much. I know the struggle though you want quality but not bulk. Thanks so much for watching !
I found Trout and Coffee during covid and just watched everything Kyle did. I guess now that I found your channel I will have to do the same. don't forget to film as much as you can of your parents. mine died before I could and even though there are tons of pictures, it's not the same as hearing their voices. don't give up on your dreams man. just keep doing what you love and finding a way to make it happen
I don't own a camera so I use my phone for everything, but I have been documenting my life through pictures since January of 2019. I haven't done much that I'm proud of, but keeping records of everything that I've experienced in the last few years is something that I love and cherish. I currently have about 8,000 pics in my collection.
Love this video! Thank you. I have a quick question, how do you categorize the footage in your hard drives, by dates or locations or perhaps something else. I struggle with the idea to make a folder for only one clip that I shot that day. Any input would be amazing.
I have a year folder with individual month folders within. In each month folder I’ll create new folders based on what the clips are from. If I just shoot 1 clip in a day I would just have a general folder where I’ll drop those. And then I organize everything within Davinci Resolve as well! Can be daunting but makes editing so much simpler
These is exactly why I want to start my UA-cam channel. Not for others but for me to look back on to say hey that was me, thats what I did and wow I came along way❤.

I feel like my memory is deteriorating day by day and capturing moments in camera can give me smth tk go back to. Thank you for this beautiful video
