"You ready to quit now Mayonnaise?" Louis Gossett Jr., Richard Gere, David Keith, Debra Winger were outstanding. One of my favorite movies. I was in my first college semester when it came out in late '82. Man, where have the years gone?

Saw this movie on Valentine’s Day on my third date with my girlfriend at the time. That was 1983 just four days after it had been released in the UK. We got married in 1984 and are still very happily married in 2020.

Does anyone else experience strong, mixed feelings watching this? It's one of my all-time favorites and has been inspirational during times when life was near bottom. Even now it "lifts me up where we belong", but reminds me of the brevity of life......and the importance of each day. Good vibes to all!

One of the greatest movies ever about growth as a human being....the scene where he helps Seegar over the fence instead of going for the record brings goosebumps every time i see it.
Also, the scene near the end where he tells Foley he wouldn't have made it without him and that he'll never forget him always brings a tear to my eye.
God bless to those that have died.

One of my favorite movies. It took 12 years to get this movie made. After all that, Paramount execs did not want the ending paper mill scene at all. They wanted it to end when Zack drives up to look at Foley with the next class and he rides off base. The writer/assistant producer fought hard for that last sequence to be included and won. The ending would have made no sense without Zach taking Paula away.

How the hell is 1982 38 years ago? But the age on the cast members' faces (and mine) says that it is. What a great movie this was, and it holds up today. So many excellent actors who went on to one degree of success or another. Glad to see Louis Gosset Jr. is looking well. Victor French died at the same age, in the same year, and of the same disease (lung cancer) as my mom. Another great Then and Now video - thanks.

This is probably the perfect rom com ever made, all the usual slushy stuff to keep the women happy, but with the boot camp navy stuff to keep the men from falling asleep.

I just wish Sid didn't have to die.
-but Blonde's, by definition - are ruthless.
    -necessarily-so.
The performances of Debra Winger/Richard Gere off-the-charts.
-the entire movie went Viral - and of course a great script.
