dude cheers for you.... you got great teaching skill... thanks for teaching this.... we wish you post content regurally.... i just started my sap PM learning path
Hey Krishna! Awesome news, I wish you all the best in your career and getting your first SAP PM project. It’s really kind what you say, yes I will continue with the stuff here and on LinkedIn so stay tuned. And don’t hesitate to reach out & ask questions if something bothers u in this area. Cheers and have fun! Dan
Thanks for the amazing video. I liked the graphics and the content. In my organization we use Oracle EAM. Although oracle has functional locations but we are setting our units and areas as equipment. That way we can create WO against the units as well. Do you think it would be useful to create both a Functional Location and an Equipment for our units?
Sup man, thanks for the awesome comment! I don’t know what stays behind EQ and FLOCs in Oracle, but let me comment it how I would approach it in SAP: It’s possible to use only Equipment in the system. It’s also possible to reflect Locations/areas as Equipment. And it’s nothing wrong about it (almost). However, we have to be 100% aware what stays behind these 2 different objects. In SAP equipment can be installed/deinstalled, can be storage managed via Serialization - FLOC cannot. The general rule is - Equipment represent movable object. If your company/Client does not want to reflect a hierarchy/structure of their Plant - u skip Flocs. However, I recommend having them. These won’t change really often - unless they build another production line etc. Then you extend the hierarchy with another node. That’s why it’s also crucial to align what areas/locations etc are part of the Floc structure. Have also the costing part in mind. Cuz Financial department will get mad, if there is a mess around costing objects. For example if we implement both - functional locations and equipment objects - equipment, once installed under functional location can inherit its costing allocation object. There are many dependencies and things to concern. My final statement is - consider having both and make sure you have clear, solid guidelines/template, so the Client sticks to it in a long run. There are people who think it’s not important, but imagine changing the whole master data once you are already live. It will be pain for both sides. Personally, I find it as the most important part of SAP PM implementation. This is the basis for any future process. I hope it gave u some idea, it ain’t oracle but still. Cheers mate, Dan
@@sap_dude We do have an existing Asset Registry, but I have a lot of concerns on how the hierarchy was set up. One of the things we are considering is to convert the unit as equipment into functional locations, and we’re trying to see if its worth the effort, but it seems its not. As you said, its painful to modify an existing system, but this is the current challenge I’m trying to solve these days. We trying to modify the hierarchy and equipment classification as per ISO14224. Thanks Dan, its very clear that you love sharing knowledge and experience. You have my respect sir.
Thanks for this incredibly high quality content!
Huuuge thanks for the comment and the appreciation 💪

Yeah that’s kinda challenging, but I am sure u will make it. Let me know how it worked out, cheers mate 🫡
Great explanation!
Very good video kindly post some videos on back-end configuration related to fiori EAM
The explanation is awesome, the 3d is prepared by you or taken from any games/external sites
