LOVED this video, Carlos, thanks for sharing. I grew up in a small Oregon town (Creswell) and the Siskiyou line ran right through the middle of it. We used to fish down at the mill pond, right next to the tracks, and you'd FEEL the rumble of those tunnel motors well before you could see their distinctive light package glinting off those well-worn rails. Really miss that railroad.
@@railfink Yep, Mazama was a bustling little mill up through the '80s. My dad drove one of those blue and white Mazama Peterbilts back then. Not much of the mill remains today, just a few empty buildings.
@@railfink I miss Bohemia INC whit there Blue and White trucks. I grew up In Cottage Grove above the Weyerhaeuser Mill. All them Stalcup chip Trucks. And Weyerhaeuser yellow and green trucks. We do have LL "Stub" Stewart state Park.
darn you Carlos!! You make me wish I was born about 15 years earlier so I could have watched this stuff man. I was born in Redding in '93 so this awesomeness was already gone by the time i really got into trains, but my brother was around that time so watching this video really brings him back to the good ol' days. Thank you so much for this great piece of history.
Long live the espee. When other kids were doing normal things, I was train watching as a young man. Happy memories that most people could not understand.
Scarlet and Gray forever! Great video, it nearly brought tears to my eyes as it brought back memories of a much better time in my life... Ahh, the scent of pine trees, freshly caught trout, diesel exhaust,, and the sound of the Nathan P9... I only hope I can return to those magical days... somehow... some way. Thanks, Carlos!
I never ran the Siskiyou Line - but thanks for a great look back at the SP. I was lucky enough as an engineer/officer to run all across the SP system - and enjoyed every mile. I sure miss her! Thanks for the great video tribute to my brothers and sisters.
The SP never fails to amaze me. They will always be the one railroad that will never die. Between the huge lash ups and all the lights...no railroad will ever come close to the Espee!
From Southern Oregon... having been in the military over 16 years and mostly overseas, this video really made me miss home. Look forward to retiring and going back.
FANTASTIC video man, thank you SO much! I have lived a stones throw from the Siskiyou line all my life, boy did this bring back memories. I am excited that the Siskiyou line is going to be opening back up for business later this year, can't wait for the trains to come rolling through again!! :D
My dad, LeRoy Dixon was the Signal Maintainer in Glendale from 1946 until 1979. There were wet cell batteries at the base of the signals which he had to build from scratch using caustic soda and water.
My uncle Louis Raske was a signal maintainer on the SP here in Texas. Assigned to the Valentine Subdivision, later to the Flatonia Subdivision. I like to think of myself as knowledgeable on signal practices. Love those US&S Style B semaphores. Ditto for their Style H searchlight heads.
Classic SP. Mars lights, P3s and various power that looked like it worked for a living. This is currently my favorite of favorites on You Tube! It both makes me wish for a return of the railroad I grew up near and glad I had the opportunity to experience it. Brings back more memories that I care to count.
@nkproad777 Well Phillip Anchutz sold the SP to UP. Also although SP's route structure was fine but its infrastructure was in bad shape. In the mid 1980's Santa Fe Pacific Industries forced the SP to sell off its non rail business inter prizes off where it could have survived with more money to purchase new cars, locomotives, maintained its track, and etc. Anchutz wasn't going to put more money into the railroad and he is a seller for all of his businesses. He buys stuff to sell it.
One Really Great Video .. Love the action and how you streamed it together .. i watch this vid just about every other day or when i need inspiration and it reminds me of home and the days growing up with these great giants .. Thanks BigBoyCarlos
I usually don't like music in my rail video viewing either, but I thought that the music in this particular video was apropos... it just seemed to go with the mood when viewing the video I thought. It was mixed in well as it didn't cover up the sounds of the activity. Good job Carlos! same for Mr. Johnson.
i dont why, but when i see this video mi legs starts to shake, very awasome video it reminds me when i used to live next to the SP track in AZ, i live in mexico and i have several models of the SP on mi ferromerx layout. Felicidades Carlos, muy buen video, Saludos from Rocky Point Mexico.
Nice vid I am a huge SP fan and actually go by the online name SP OR BUST!! in the trainz world pc game but that is awsome work very well done ;) Miss my SP... grew up in Roseville saw the SP alot there over the years and theres nothin like the bloody noses nothin!!! sad to see them gone ;(
What's the unit on the point @ +00:37? looks like an 88''' short hood SD 45!!! I seem to gravitate to this video about once a year...sometimes I actually get choked up. I recall back in the late 70's when I was in jr high school, my two best friends and I would frequently get permission from our parents beforehand to ride our bikes to a location track side after school and take in the sights and sounds of the mighty SP and trade the wave of hands w/ road crewman. We would get SO thrilled when the engineers would blast the P3 just for us. Ahhh, sweet memories from the past...
I spent my teenage years in the 70's with SP passing through Davis California heading east to Sacramento and "the hill" or north to Oregon. Some of the rains I watched looked pretty similar to these with SD40T-2's, SD45's and SD9's.
@BoeingBigJet No way! I love all your stuff that you made, but unfortunately I can't download anything from the CMP for TS2010. but thanks for the great work.
"In the October 21, 2015 edition of the Eugene, Oregon Register Guard, it was announced that CORP would begin to operate the entire 296 mile line between Eugene, Oregon and Weed, California in November. It was estimated that the average train would consist of 12 to 14 cars a day and impact local wood products companies who had to switch to trucks when the line was taken out of service. CORP; Central Oregon & Pacific Railroad base in Roseburg." owned by; Genesee & Wyoming Inc. Engines are orange, yellow with 2 black strips.. Same as the PNWR; Portland and Western Railroad. There are videos of the train engines on youtube. I used to live in Cottage Grove From the late 60's to 1992. Used to love watching the almost 100 car trains go by going north. Always liked the SD9's then SP got the tunnel motors.
Its now owned by a shortline railroad called Central Oregon and Pacific (CORP), they still run really long trains but only between Eugene and Roseburg!
Hello mate! How can I buy the compilation of these videos by DVD, VOD, Download or any other method. I have been seeking commercial programs focusing this line for a long time. I bought a DVD - Great Shortlines West, there is a very good scenes, but so short. Congrats for this video. Thank you. Cheers from Curitiba, PR - Brazil
+William Hastings. Yes, it is a stroke of genius. As a general rule music does not belong in train videos. This the rare exception. I don't understand why so many people dislike it.
Seldom talked about, "Head Case Jones", Younger brother of legionary "Casey Jones" used to be an Engineer like his older brother Casey. However. To the dismay of everyone in small towns back then. "Head Case Jones" would stand on top of his train and masturbate for all the town to see as the train slowly traveled through towns. -Train Historian, Bill Howes.
Great video! Congrats. Superbe music too.
GOD bless Southern Pacific. FOREVER the best RR that ever was!
And God bless EMD.
Thanks.

One of the best train videos based on musical composition, editing and history of SP.
Great video and music! , always koved the throbing strobe light of the siuthern Pacific RR!!!

The SP never fails to amaze me. They will always be the one railroad that will never die. Between the huge lash ups and all the lights...no railroad will ever come close to the Espee!
I love the shots with the mars lights, that is the real Southern Pacific that I grew up watching, chasing and photographing.
Nice vid, Brings a tear to the eye Sniff sniff......

It's awesome to see the old SP again!
Alex
Grungy SP Scarlett and Grey , working the grades . I miss the SP !!! 😢
Thank you for this wonderful video. I personally love the old SP.
FANTASTIC video man, thank you SO much! I have lived a stones throw from the Siskiyou line all my life, boy did this bring back memories. I am excited that the Siskiyou line is going to be opening back up for business later this year, can't wait for the trains to come rolling through again!! :D
Really?!? They are opening the line again? Who will be running on it? UP?
Central Oregon Pacific runs it now... A daily train from Weed to Hornbrook, and from Medford to Hornbrook. Monday through Friday.
The one and only one the old SP that I still love, and miss it very much.
My dad, LeRoy Dixon was the Signal Maintainer in Glendale from 1946 until 1979. There were wet cell batteries at the base of the signals which he had to build from scratch using caustic soda and water.

Man o man, the SP were not afraid to lash 'em up. And those box cars at 0:45 were really rockin.
THat was awesome dude!
My #1 favorite fallen flag. I miss this railroad.
@BoeingBigJet No way! I love all your stuff that you made, but unfortunately I can't download anything from the CMP for TS2010. but thanks for the great work.
Something about SP and im not sure if its their paint scheme or colour that made them look all powerfull and no nonsense..pure grunt
nice video
I used to live in Grants Pass and left in 1994 on a job transfer to Salt Lake City,.
What's happening on the line now?

Stroke of genius pairing it with this video...
+William Hastings. Yes, it is a stroke of genius. As a general rule music does not belong in train videos. This the rare exception. I don't understand why so many people dislike it.
Awesome video but I cant hear the roaring EMDS

@wildfire19861987 McCloud River Railroad they where leased to SP for a wile.
Do you happen to know where the McClouds are in the clip?
Medford Or.
Carlos,
What is the the name of the artist/song you used for this track? Thanks!!!
Does anyone know the name of this song and/or the artist?
The best RR hands down they were innovators unlike the UP imitators. I can also care less about there world's largest steam engine.
Espee knew how to power freight trains. Dam UP, why did you do it? (buying espee)
