It always bothered me that Neverland was so short. Only two main areas; the pirate ship and Big Ben. I was kind of hoping that they'd explore the island a bit too, but that opportunity was missed.
I kinda understand why they did it like that. Neverland is meant to be the calm before the storm, as it's the last Disney world before Hollow Bastion and End of the World. They wanted it to be quick and easy, to relieve some tension before the crazy stuff starts happening
At least we got Neverland in BBS
The island was in Birth By Sleep, but that’s a spin off so it doesn’t really count.
I mean, perhaps they found the island setting too similar to the island at the very start of the game (which already gave me strong Neverland vibes TBH), and... Perhaps they wanted to avoid a certain problematic portrayal of Native American peoples.

Say, not only did they get Wendy's original actress Kathryn Beaumont to reprise her role, but the replacement VA's they got for Peter Pan, Hook and Smee are VERY good at sounding like the original performances, Smee especially IMO
