Hello there!
Today Im gonna show you something I wanted to do for a loooong time: use Shallow Waters in stereo! The kind folks at Fairfield Circuitry send me an unit and allowed me to try some magic. Needless to say, I love the result.
I'm using the Torso T1 as a sequencer and Strymon Nightsky for reverberation.
Beside that, this video is somewhat a goodbye to my studio, since I am moving oversea. In the last few months my approach to music and creativity had a shift, things slowed down and had to find solace in creating music for a different purpose. I will share some thoughts with you, hope you will find it interesting.
Enjoy!

I think a lot of people are going through the same thing, mate. Hope your Italian journey soothes you! Keep on making stuff you enjoy and share that - I’m sure many people will find benefits from it.
Thanks, will do!
I prefer moments of humanity that this video exemplifies(which is how I say this video was worth making), safe travels, friend
Thanks! I'd love to share more like this!
Best wishes and good luck on your next adventure in Italy! The change of scenery WILL ignite your imagination and creativity in new directions.
Thanks Brian !!
My decks, records and all my synths have been lying on the floor of multiple rooms for the past 7 months as i'm renovating the house... It's been like a game of musical chairs, shifting stuff from room to room... Only, without the music...
Only this past few days are they all set up again!! Music does make you happy!! :D
YES!!!
Great video, I really liked the personal chat being backed by your beautiful ambient sounds
Thanks Joshua!
I love to hear stuff from in the inside the soul. You're not alone. And remember we're not machines, we just work with them. I work in the IT and I make music. Sometimes I dominate thousands of machines, and sometimes I know they dominate me.
Beautifully said mate!
@@OoraMusic Thanks. Just summarizing the facts, as machines can be overwhelming. ;)) Succes with the new journey.
Hearing you talk about finding creativity and also talk about leaning into those moments of inspiration was so helpful to me. I'm always my own toughest critic, but it's nice to hear someone else talk about taking time with just one synth and learning to find some happiness in it. I am definitely going to try doing that today. Thank you so much!
Happy to hear someone resonates with that!
I appreciate your videos and your honesty. May you find yourself a new calm & reinvigoration in your new surrounds! All the best to you & yours
Thank you so much! It will take some time but Im sure I will be fine!
The last five years of my life has been about rediscovering my creative side after almost three decades of office work. Photography first, and then music with all these wonderful hardware synthesizers.
I really like Italy and my girlfriend and I are talking about visiting a place she lived for a couple years, Puglia, sometime this year or next.
Best of luck with the big move, and I'm sure you'll find your way both personally and creatively!
We have been on a similar path. Puglia is gorgeous, definitely go!
Lovely to hear about your personal journey. Love what you do. Hope you continue with your music in Italy ♥️
Yes, the plan is doing even more music!
Good luck with the move! Looking forward to your future videos!
thanks!
Love what you do with that Vermona - have a great weekend mate and a safe trip✌️
Thanks Nate
thanks for all this! Im vibing with so much of what you're saying. making music that doesn't have to be shared, embracing simplicity, creating healing sounds...it all resonates with my recent process both creatively and I guess "spiritually." and if you're using two Shallow Waters while you're sharing so much honesty, then I'm all in haha. keep it up mate!
ahah thanks Ben! appreciate your kind words!
Wonderful, one of your best! I am on a similar journey and also experiencing alternating moments of sadness, anxiety and excitement. It is calming to listen to your music and words of reflection. I wish you all the best and I very much look forward to a rundown of your new creative space in Italy! Thank you :)
Thanks for your nice words Clark!
I,m positive with your outlook you will prosper once again.
thanks!!!!
This has resonated a lot in me.
Not only concerning the approach to simple music but also hearing that you leave the ny huzzle for a completely new life in rural Italy.
I also moved back to the countryside a year ago and its a really good place to live with family :)
Wish you all the best and looking forward to hear your upcoming work.
Thanks !! I really hope things will work out, finger crossed. Happy to hear you are doing great!
We have many lifes in one. It's the reason why life is so exciting . Welcome in Europe. Keep sending us good vibes through your great videos
Will do!
All the best with relocating Federico...I know Italy will be great for you guys.
Thanks!!
Best luck buddy. Thanks for your music and thoughts.
Thanks for listening :)
Good luck on the fresh start in Italy!
thanks!
Hope you're feeling better soon and keep up the videos iif you can!! :)
Thanks!
Good luck man. Italy will inspire you in wholly new ways...
Hope so!
Good luck and best wishes for your new challenges.
Fingers crossed!
You don’t sound like a new yorker. Great video! Awesome combination of quite a few things. Soon to leave nyc for country life also.
Enjoyment is key. All the best🤙🏼
Thanks Brian and good luck!!
great video and thank you for sharing!! I moved out of a beautiful studio flat in Hamburg to move back to Edinburgh and I mourned that loss for a few months (no joke). But I soon moved on and started making the most of where I am now. I still do think about that space and it warms my heart to remember such fond memories. Good luck with your adventure and cant wait to see your next place ..p.s I was always jealous of your NY apartment!! onwards!
I am in that place right now. I am in a temporary studio and is hard to feel comfortable. The first week was really hard and im still figuring out. Hope to find a great space soon!!
Best of luck with the move, hope moving back to Italy inspires you to produce & release more music!
Thanks Liam!
I try the vermona and did not click to it , as I could not build something dreamy so I sold it and now it is growing again i as the sound is so unique. Thanks for the demo.
This machine demand experience, now I know .
You are not the first one telling me something like that. I guess some tools click with us in a particular time and space. I hated and sold both octatrack and op1 before falling in love with them. I'd say don't force things, tho.
Beautiful.
Thank you! Cheers!
Excited for you
thanks!
From the videos I have listened to, the Vermona 4 part synth sounds with so much character and personality.
Yes is my favorite thing
We'll be here when you get back, take care man!
Thanks mate!
In bocca al lupo per il prossimo futuro :)
Grazie Marco
Double Shallow Waters!! I like the stream of consciousness style of music Making u got going! Great vibe. Synth is Meditation. Meditation is synth.
Thanks for listening and happy you liked it!
Love for you to check out my ambient live stream let me know what you think. Been feeling the same way about creating and just playing letting it flow. Your ambiant stuff is very inspiring. Thinking about getting the shallow water pedal.

Welcome back to Europe, I'm sure you'll find what you're looking for back in Italy.
Thanks!
When you're in Italy again I'll come over with my t-1 and some synth(s) and we can jam and have a moretti :)
....Anyhow...I am sure, Italy will be good to you. Thanks for your Videos and sharing your thoughts.
Best from Vienna and a safe trip.
Let me know when you come then, always up for a moretti!
@@OoraMusic nice! Haven't been in italy for a way too long while...will you be heading rather north or south in italy?
Boards of Canada littered their albums with these sonic fragments and produced thousands of them that never got published. I thinks it’s a great way to centre yourself, just lose yourself in the flow state for a few minutes. The process is more important than the result.
completely agree! thanks for your words
music does not (always) need a use nor target - sometimes it is great to just allow it to be whatever it wants - good luck on the journey
Thanks !
Hi does this unit plug and play, I just ordered one I have a anolog rytm. Thank you
I think we forget how much psychological work goes into nesting and creating a creative environment. It takes time to establish a routine and foster the right atmosphere. And, it also takes a lack of distractions and even excitement. With moving, there's a lot changing and new ... so it can be hard to 'bed down'. What I found in moving, is that I started actually getting productive after a big move when two things happened. 1) my creative environment was setup the way I wanted and a strong routine established. 2) The excitement and distraction of the move settled down, and I actually started to get _slightly_ bored of the new environment and novelty wore off.
Thanks for sharing Desmond. I am really struggling these days. It seems impossible to compose and focus. So many things in my head and to do. Your advices are golden and I think you are right. Hopefully I will settle soon!
@@OoraMusic a targeted limited break can help. While you sort out life admin. Then come back clear headed. Instead of feeling torn about not creating. Even, limiting musical activity to gathering preparatory material, learning, patch programming, improvising drones just to decompress etc
I'm never tried Vermona - it's so interesting to try at least :) And I'm in touch with Fairchild's so simple but unique design
Never tried the farichils, would love to
@@OoraMusic Ha-ha :) my bad - I mean Fairfield ... ^_^
Hope everything works out for you in italy. Maybe you are able to do some gigs/talks etc in Germany. Would love to come by.
Germany is one of the places I want to be often!!
Your wooden table is gorgeous ;-) but if you have indeed in the meanwhile moved to the Italian countryside, may I humbly suggest you show something of the surroundings as well in the next newer video? Sarebbe bello ;-)
Pian piano lo faro' :)
Buon viaggio e buona fortuna!
grazie Renzo!
Is your bpm set in your sequencer? Do you catalogue with bmp noted for all your atmospheric/cinematic noodles?
yes the t1 set the bpm. I usually jam to 100BPM, that is my sweet zone!
@@OoraMusic sweet 100bpm!
🖤
:)
I was interested to listen to the STEREO shallow waters... but your video is mono...
mmm it shouldn't be..
That shallow waters could lead to really interesting stuff, I was thinking of a different setup on each, and then an lfo assigned to pan (let's say on the Octatrack) to move the sound back and forth between the two Shallow water. So, same sound input with a constant shift in reverb type on the output.
I'd just like to say a thing about your introspection, as a great fan of your productions, that's a bit sad to hear about that writer's block. Maybe it's down to when you took the plunge to go full producer/youtuber? I mean, not having "producing time" constrictions anymore, due to the other - kinda normal- work as before, maybe you lost a bit of focus on putting down full songs, having so much more time to explore sounds and fxs. In my little experience I noticed to be so much more efficient when I sit in front of my setup with a goal in mind. Although I'm still at the start of the journey, maybe it's a lot different for an established producer like you mate, i don't know.
Anyway, I'm really really excited to see what's coming next, and what kind of outcome your moving will give to your music, and to your soul.
Seeyah!
Eh c'hai ragione! Since I went full time doing content and music I realized I'm spending lot of time doing videos and not enough music. That is something that will have to change. Great idea on the shallow LFO!
Sei italiano??
si!
@@OoraMusic complimenti, mi piace moltissimo il tuo canale!:)
però / but ❤️
:)
your video in mono
not sure what happened :/
