The Bengals being +10 in turnover differential is really what saved their season last year. Even Burrow admitted that last year's team wasn't good enough to contend for a Super Bowl. This year will be different, everyone in the organization is butter about how last season played out and they are ready for the revenge tour against a last place schedule.
Burrow saying that they weren't a super bowl team after the season is lame (and annoying bc Burrow acted like it was everyone else and took zero responsibility which was the opposite from what he usually does)... things I never thought I would say about Burrow. If they really weren't a super bowl team, then Burrow was the main reason they weren't last year. Burrow was hurt but refused to sit out the 1st five games and got the whole offense killed and made it harder on the defense bc he wanted to play "burrow ball" as a statue in the pocket. The couple times he did turn his back to the defense, Burrow made easy completions bc the defense had to hesitate to make sure where the ball was. "Burrow Ball" makes it hard on the entire offense and makes the offense extremely predictable. Burrow hates going under center (very different from Brady) and doesn't seem committed to helping the RB (and the whole offense) when handing the ball off (not committed to disguising if its run or pass)

Based on what I've been seeing in mock drafts so far Joe Burrow is actually a really nice value pick. I've been able to consistently get Burrow in the 8th, 9th, or even the 10th round in mocks and if you ask me that's an absolute steal. The fact that I can build up my whole team with like 4 WRs, 3 RBs, and a nice TE1 and then STILL get a huge upside QB in Joe Burrow is just crazy to me. I just hope his ADP stays that low into August and September when the real drafts roll around 😈
Yoshi gained a good amount of muscle and worked all offseason to compete for the 3 position. I think if season started today he would be it. Maybe Burton on the long haul, but for now I’d take the Yoshi Hammer.

With Sheldon Rankins and Kris Jenkins on the inside,getting more pressure on the QB from 2 &3 gap inside has been upgraded. We will see how MCkinley Jackson works out at the nose position,but he looks good in camp. The secondary has gotten a boost with Vonn Bell and Geno Stone on the back end. I like what they have done on defense and I expect them to return to form this year. The offense has all the potential in the league. With a healthy Joe Burrow and the weapons they have,it will be an explosive offense.

First thing about dl, Reader was so underrated, made this defense work, I was so upset he left until seeing his contract, getting paid that low must mean there is significant worry that he will not be the same unfortunately. He can't be replaced, but as a team Sheldon Rankins is a notable guy, with Kris Jenkins a high floor guy as depth, another year experience of last years 1st round pick Myles Murphy as depth who looked great end of year at DE, Ossai there too, I feel like this is depth we haven't had there in the Burrow era. O line same thing, it is has been a reoccurring thing about o line, but getting Mims fighting for the starting job with Trent Brown, drafting Matt Lee who everyone claims is this super underrated guy, depth we haven't had, this will be the best o line Burrow has had. Db's same thing, Dax Hill didn't work out as we expected, brought in Geno Stone a solid safety, with Bell returning to fight for the starting position with Battle who looked great last year, but Dax Hill will be fighting for a cb starting slot and an all around gadget guy just adding more depth here than last year and Scott no longer on the team throwing the game for us. And we know Browning can go out there and win games in case Burrow needs rest. Overall, these positions was like gg's if an injury happened and doesn't seem like the end of the world now. The offensive signings are more based around the Burrow gameplan with Moss at rb replacing Mixon who hasn't been great for us in years, and Gesicki, Gesicki is a highly underrated pickup imo that other Bengals shows have gone in depth about what he can do for this offense that he wasn't given opportunities before. Especially as replacing the throw artist Irv Smith was. Some consider Burton an upgrade over Boyd, which we will find out. Boyd and Higgins both underperformed last season so getting additional talent there should help. I think they are so much better than what they had last year. With the 4th place schedule it is so ridiculously easy, they had one of the hardest schedules of all time and still went 9-7, this year I think they make the playoffs even without Burrow. Lou Anarumo plays alot more Quarters than the numbers show. It's just that he starts in Single High more than any other DC. He likes to roll into Quarters from single high preferably to stop the run first
Quarters from Single-high is funky since it puts a lot of stress on the safety coming from the box since he's got run responsibilities and he might have 2 vertical depending on the call so maybe that's where some of their explosive losses come from
It's a credit to how good the Chiefs and Mahomes and Andy Reid are that, in the 2021 season, the Bengals managed to beat the Chiefs in the playoffs -- for the time in Bengals history -- and the Bengals fans have bragged about it ever since.
You said that you didn’t know how the offense was going to operate I think that it is quite apparent. They have been building the receiving core so that Jamarr can be in the slot so that coverage rolling his way does not necessarily take him out of the play. They want to be malleable and feed him the rock.
They paid the price last year to get young talented DBs some experience and added back some experienced players to help bring them along. Lou's Defense is not a simple one and you don't just walk in and get it. They have a strong DL and a pretty strong LB corps and speed with more experience in the back. I think they will be a top 12 Defense and if guys like Battle continue their development maybe top 10. Along with at least a top 5-6 Offense the Bengals are not a team that others will want to face in critical times. Burrow, Tee and Chase really are that good.
That mid-season back-to-back win set over San Francisco and Buffalo was really impressive, but then the wheels fell off the wagon. It does show what they are capable of if Burrow's healthy and the team isn't actively sabotaging itself.
The San Francisco game was fun to watch bc Burrow switched up the offense (went under center ALOT more than normal last year) and kept the defense on their toes more. Then Burrow went right back to constant shotgun and a predictable offense and making it as hard as possible on his skill players and OL bc of the predictability
The Bengals schedule is by far the easiest in the AFCN. That IMO will give them a game and maybe two advantage, But they have to at a minimum go 3-3 in the division for that to matter. If they get to the PO I think that is where they find another gear. IMO the AFCN team that is healthiest in December/Jan will come out on top and the Bengals depth is the best or close to the best in the division.

I thought I understood QBS until this video. How does their receiving room plus Mixon, with an average O-line and defense, end up with 6.4? They were the favorites to win the division going into the season and in the conversation for the top of the AFC. I know Burrow being healthy was a big part of that, but I still find it hard to believe they were the 30th best projected team outside of QB going into 2023.

Lou Anarumo plays alot more Quarters than the numbers show. It's just that he starts in Single High more than any other DC. He likes to roll into Quarters from single high preferably to stop the run first
Quarters from Single-high is funky since it puts a lot of stress on the safety coming from the box since he's got run responsibilities and he might have 2 vertical depending on the call so maybe that's where some of their explosive losses come from

They have been building the receiving core so that Jamarr can be in the slot so that coverage rolling his way does not necessarily take him out of the play. They paid the price last year to get young talented DBs some experience and added back some experienced players to help bring them along. Lou's Defense is not a simple one and you don't just walk in and get it. They have a strong DL and a pretty strong LB corps and speed with more experience in the back. I think they will be a top 12 Defense and if guys like Battle continue their development maybe top 10. Along with at least a top 5-6 Offense the Bengals are not a team that others will want to face in critical times. Burrow, Tee and Chase really are that good.

That mid-season back-to-back win set over San Francisco and Buffalo was really impressive, but then the wheels fell off the wagon. It does show what they are capable of if Burrow's healthy and the team isn't actively sabotaging itself.
The San Francisco game was fun to watch bc Burrow switched up the offense (went under center ALOT more than normal last year) and kept the defense on their toes more. Then Burrow went right back to constant shotgun and a predictable offense and making it as hard as possible on his skill players and OL bc of the predictability

The Bengals schedule is by far the easiest in the AFCN. That IMO will give them a game and maybe two advantage, But they have to at a minimum go 3-3 in the division for that to matter. If they get to the PO I think that is where they find another gear. IMO the AFCN team that is healthiest in December/Jan will come out on top and the Bengals depth is the best or close to the best in the division.

I thought I understood QBS until this video. How does their receiving room plus Mixon, with an average O-line and defense, end up with 6.4? They were the favorites to win the division going into the season and in the conversation for the top of the AFC. I know Burrow being healthy was a big part of that, but I still find it hard to believe they were the 30th best projected team outside of QB going into 2023.

I don’t see the Bears making the playoffs this year, the Vikings might still be a year away but we’ll see with a fresh signal caller (I am, sadly, a Vikings fan). If I had to choose out of the AFC north, I’d guess the Browns don’t make it. I just don’t know if Deshaun is going to be able to revive a large enough portion of his prior self, and the albatross of a contract really puts the Browns in a pickle cause they have to keep signing back up QB’s. Russ and Fields weren’t really able to elevate their former teams so it would be surprising if they magically turned into different QB’s in Pittsburgh.
