If the top window keeps sliding down, the problem isn’t the sash lock. The problem is either that the sash weights aren’t heavy enough, or that the sash cord is too long and the weights are bottoming out in the pocket before the window gets to the top. Either problem is an easy repair.

What if the screw holes are to big or a bit damaged?

You can break off a toothpick with a little wood glue in the hole, let dry and redrill the hole. I use epoxy putty to fill screw holes and then redrill. Either method will work.

Which is better, this lock or the cam style lock and why?

All my window latches no longer line up. It's like the windows no longer go down as far as they used to. Ideas?

You may want to see if there's anything in the track that's preventing them from closing all the way.

Ed Bass or does the top part(rail) need to be pushed up more? That’s my issue.

Some rails have slid down over time, I know mine have. So the lock doesn't line up or even close on some. I put a little spacer on the sash rail that is sagging, normally the outer/upper sash to line up the lock and then install as you normally would.

still looks loose... sash lock doesn't seem to be pulling up on the window as it should, requires more than just replacing sash lock

I ended up replacing this window because it was very old. This video was more-or-less to show you how to replace the sash lock.
