I hope you enjoyed today's video! Thank you to Mersea for sponsoring. Click here bit.ly/3EyPdag to check out Mersea's ready-to-wear Voyager collection and use code DAILY20 for 20% off. I would love to know how your winter wardrobe performed (spring for our Southern Hemisphere friends). Let us know in the comments. What did you learn about your style? Thank you for watching and have a wonderful day! Love, Jennifer
Even though the linen dress is meant to be oversized, in my opinion it's hard for smaller people like you (or me) to wear them without looking swallowed or like the dress is just too big. There's a fine line between one is wearing the dress and the dress is wearing me!:)
Agreed.
I agree too. Plus these clothes are very expensive. Most people can’t afford that
@@karendavidson5455 Yes, but she's showing her wardrobe, not other people's. Her wardrobe is pretty modest and unpretentious considering what she does for a living, all things considered.
I agree. I’m 5’5” and oversized clothes are so unflattering on me. I generally avoid them.
Agree, might be a lovely dress but just too swallowing, this appears like a robe. My opinion only.
Please consider getting a top or dress the same color as your eyes! The green sweater that was close to your eye color made your eyes stand out so beautifully
I think a Color analysis would be such a good tool to improve the ten items wardrobe
These reflection on your Capsule wardrobe videos are still my favourite.
Your dilemma about wearing the silk blouse for daily housework reminded of sound advice my mom gave me when I transitioned from a teenager to a young adult. I began changing out my teen pop wardrobe for classier clothes. My mom's advice was to not wear all my special clothes for everyday, because they would then not feel so special when I would wear them for a holiday or some other momentous event. She also pointed out that the nicer clothes needed to be treated as such, as opposed to treating them like a Tshirt and jeans. They would fade and wear out quicker and being more expensive, wouldn't be wise for my budget. Instead, she suggested having a set of casual clothes, such as jeans, khakis, tshirts, etc. Have a business wardrobe, then skirts, dresses and blouses & pants and having a few really nice clothes to save for special occasions. For women's suits, she warned against wearing the pieces separately, such as treating the skirt or suit jacket as stand alone items. Those will fade and wear and then when I would put them back with the other part of the suit, it would no longer look like a matching set. Sometimes, I took her advice, but sometimes I didn't. She was right about the suit. I invested in a really professional, lined wool skirt/suit jacket and wore the skirt without the jacket quite often. When I wanted to wear the jacket with the skirt again, I realized that the skirt no longer looked as nice and the outfit was now ruined.
This is why I tend to buy two bottoms with every blazer. This was super common in the old days, in Germany these suits with two pairs of pants were called „doppelter Johann“ (double John).
The striped linen dress would also be pretty open and worn as a duster over white tee and white jeans.
That's a great idea!
There’s nothing wrong with combining practicality with dressing nice. No one is going to garden in a white silk blouse either. I think a little common sense goes a long way. I appreciate your message Jennifer.
So well said
Jennifer, I love that your went through your winter capsule wardrobe and shared your thoughts on how you used them and what you used most.
Congratulations on the sponsor collaboration with Mersea! That's a very familiar brand to us connoisseurs, and I'm so happy you were able to work with one of your favorites. I think I might take the plunge and use the ten item wardrobe for spring. There's too many choices and too little joy for me when it's time to get dressed. It's time to cull the herd, as they say! 😂Also very happy to see the return of the ever-controversial croissant shoes! 🥐😁
Thank you! And I still love my croissant shoes :) ✨
I’m seeing croissant shoes everywhere!!!
So beautiful! And I LOVE the Fennwyth scarf with your jumpsuit xx
Thank you, Audrey! I love love love my Fennwyth scarf ♥️
I’ve found I have been drawn to shades of green for Spring! Since the NE section of the US is having a strange winter season, it’s not easy to fully consider Spring items quite yet for me! Plus sizing remains an issue! I actually bought a Boden striped top last Spring/Summer and it was too big; so one wear and perhaps a navy or cream turtleneck under it?! Always fun to observe how you put together your 10 pc wardrobe and you choose very high quality pieces! Probably why you get many seasons of wear from them!❤
The linen dress is beautiful. I would consider purchasing it. However, I'm very tiny and petite and prefer A-line dresses that land at the knees.
We had 10 inches of snow fall overnight where I live, so spring is feeling very far away, but I am so looking forward to it! I did better with my winter wardrobe this year, loving most of my pieces. I’m going to be spending my spring prepping our home to sell and then move, so I might be taking that into consideration and getting very low maintenance fabrics and styles.
Beautiful video!
Love your style- classic, modest, and always fresh/current!
❤️
Thank you!
PS- I’m here for the old lady sleuthing in English countryside looks!
@@j.r.7716 Same!
Oh…so ready for the transition to springtime!
MerSea is one of my favorite brands, too! This season they have outdone themselves!
Am grateful they offered your chic readers a discount to get started on styling Spring and Summer!
Thank you for your do diligence , Jennifer. It always affords me a new and clear perspective as I go forward . You not only have me au courant in thought, but I am already budgeting for Thursday Boots for Fall.
Have a great week!
Thank you
Great video Jennifer! Looking forward to the spring 10 item capsule. 💜
Oh! that white dress look it looks amazing on you. I always love your 10 items wardrobe , so simple nice concept 😊
I really love the white dress and duster look! I'm definitely reevaluating my wordrobe for the upcoming season. Thanks Jennifer 😊
I think the belt from the jumpsuit will look nice in the dark dress that turned blue :) I think the star is definitely the white long duster. It looks so cozy for winter but at the same time pulls together so many outfits. I’d love to see a fashion show still of winter 22
So beautiful and always classy! Thank you, Jennifer.
These are my favorite updates!
I love your relaxed dressy style! I would love to see the striped dress with a different belt. Great inspiration as always Jennifer!
Jennifer, this is such perfect timing! I was just watching one of your videos the other day thinking how lovely you look in all your Mersea clothing ( you had on the long white cardigan) and decided I wanted to add an item from Mersea into my spring / summer wardrobe. So excited to check out their new collection and take advantage of ypur discount code. Yay! Thanks!
I love love love it all Jennifer ❤ thanks
Looking back on my winter wardrobe, i think one of my mistakes was that because of the cold (I live in Quebec), dresses and skirts were not appealing. I'd require woolen tights and a warmer wool coat if I wanted to have skirts and dresses in a regular rotation. However, my knitted pullovers were so popular.
So lovely Jennifer! I can’t wait to see your spring selections and what you are planning with LilySilk! I’ve always admired your silk trousers - could you ask them to offer a longer length for us tall girls? 😄 Lots of love! 💛🤗Robin
Thank you, Robin! I can't wait to see your spring wardrobe too. I'm on it with the Lilysilk requests haha, they are used to me asking for these custom pieces 😂
Thank you, Jennifer!! I love to see your new clothing!! MerSea always has such beautiful dreamy clothes and you look amazing in them! I love your choices!!😘
I love Mersea sweaters and wraps💗
Loved all the outfits except the first one. Thank you great ideas
Now, the Lily silk pants! ❤❤❤
Love all your outfits! Always classy always beautiful 🎉
i really love the floral dress with the stripe
I started following you because of your 10 item wardrobe and enjoy that and homemaking content
Congrats on the MerSea sponsor! Awesome!!
I was wondering when you would start talking about spring wardrobe. I pulled out some of my spring pieces as well even though it's still snowy here ( I have winter type clothing for spring just different colors) but as I am traveling soon to a warm place I am thinking ahead to my summer wardrobe!
I bought the Jon Josef white penny loafer with black chunky sole. They are so beautiful and comfortable and I cannot wait to start wearing them this spring and summer!! I also have two pairs of Oliver Cabella - white ballet flat and black suede loafer. Both are unbelievably comfortable. I would not have known of these two brands if it wasn’t for you, Jennifer! Thank you for inspiring all of us to care for ourselves as well as our families. 🥰💗🌸
The Jon Josef and Oliver Cabell shoes are so good! I’m glad you like them too.
Jennifer, you are so beautiful and elegant! The linen MerSea dress looks amazing on you.
4:51 - A much appreciated shout-out to Anne Shirley. Loved it!
I do believe you’re a God send in this crass society. You’ve helped me maintain a sound and stable mind.🌸
Thank you! ✨
It sure is getting insane out there. Up is down, down is up etc.
I had a dream that I was in Southern California and I ran into Jennifer in a tea store🤣
I love this! Haha 💫
Great video! I’m excited to hear your thoughts on the Everlane jeans, they are all I wear. 😊 Also I think you would really like Doen. They have beautiful Victorian-inspired blouses and dresses and they are based in CA. Looking forward to the next 10 item video!
Jennifer, I was hoping for more cheerful colors, but still love this video!
Hi Jennifer! Do you have any videos or advice about lounge wear and the ten item wardrobe? I'm starting my spring capsule and I'm trying to decide if I should just wear my core items while being a homeschooling mom like you or if I should wear relaxing, lounge clothing at home and then change whenever I'm about to go out. What do you think? Did Madame Chic have at home clothes and going out clothes? Thanks!
To balance the loose fit of the linen dress, you could wear a more structured hairstyle, even a cute ponytail or something like that.
It was wonderful seeing you talk about your spring preview and what worked for you this past winter. I have a pair of Naot lace-up boots similar to yours, in black and in chestnut, that I wore often this past winter and they were comfortable, cozy and fashionable. I await your seasonal wardrobe chat and am curious about the LilySilk safari pants. Question: Did you prefer the LilySilk satin safari pants to the silk ones you bought earlier? I'm loving the two jewelry items you shared and am about to use your promo code for them. Thank you, Jennifer! I love all your videos.
I also washed a new navy blue robe with my older robes. It bled color onto them, making them look dismayingly dingy. I will try the BioKleen OxyBleach Plus soak. Thanks Jennifer.
Think about dyeing one deep purple and one a deep dove grey.
@@taniacummings9207 Thank you, Tania. That sounds interesting. It's worth a try.
OMG I love linen and denim dresses. I could live in linen dresses and pants in spring, summer and early fall. I have been looking for dresses and pants in plus sizes, but most look like a tent. I like your dress because it has structure and striping. So beautiful! Maybe get the jumpsuit one size bigger or get a linen one?
Love this and your videos ❤ would you share which size you take in the lily silk safari pants? I am wondering weather I should take size 2 or 4 since I am only 5 foot 4
I enjoyed the video! I’m curious do you use anything special to keep the silk wrinkle free? I have a lily silk top and I worry about using too high heat and I find I avoid wearing it.
Jennifer what size do wear in the Lily silk blouse. Not sure which size to order. Love you channel. Thank you
I wear small in their blouses. Thank you!
Jennifer, I would love to hear your wardrobe advice for date night dressing. My husband appreciates a bit more skin exposed for those nights (or perhaps as often as is possible😉). I'm eager to please him, but wouldn't want to wear those items necessarily during the week around the home with my children or while out running errands. Suggestions?
I love your channel! You are beautiful, classy, elegant, and confident in who you are! Can you please share the belt in the 11 minute and 16 second mark with the jumpsuit? It looks different than the Thursday belt. Can you also please share where you purchased the beige sneakers? I am debating on getting white or beige sneakers for spring, yet don’t know which may elevate my outfit more. Thank you! 🥰
First in to enjoy. Txs joyful Jenn.
Happy day! ✨
I, too, look forward to these videos.
Jean wise - have you looked at a trouser style jean with a wide leg? I just tried them and they have a wider leg but also have a classic cut and style.
I ordered the Everland Way High so I'll do an update when those arrive...
I love these videos and the slow approach to fashion. I really want the Vivaia Cheetah loafers but I heard that the returns policy is really bad at Vivaia. I also love jumpsuits and denim dresses!
Jennifer, have you tried Rothy’s shoe brand? I am really enjoying the comfort and style of their loafers and like that they are made from recycled materials. Thought they might have a shoe that would look nice with your new Mersea dress.
Hi Jennifer,
I wanted to know with intermittent fasting weightloss did you find that you didn't have loose skin? Would love your tips on what you did to prevent it. X
❤ for high waist flares, you might want to check Carly jean Los Angeles…
Jennifer, 🤔 wondering...what about a basket type handbag with your beautiful linen dress?...a natural, fine leather sandal, also...am I thinking of an espardilla sandal???
I was thinking that too. Nude Or a pop of bright color like yellow would look nice too
The leather sneakers would be so chic too!
So inspiring!!
Love the dress and I am enjoying making a wishlist of their pieces!!!
I have 2 sweaters from mersea and I love them. Thank you for introducing me to this brand
Love the Lilysilk safari pants but how do you care for them and do they get damaged when chasing after kids? Their website seems to say they need to be dry cleaned.
Jennifer, have you decluttered your old jumpsuits? Did they not withstand the frequent wearing & washing?
I have saved two of them (one long sleeve and one short sleeve) for gardening. But they are no longer wearable for everyday due to heavy use.
I had a washing mishap with my Lily Silk black and white pinstriped shirt. It is now khaki and black. Debating whether to try and soak, etc., or just embrace the khaki.
Soak it. Although if you’ve since washed and dried it it will be harder to remove the stain…
@@TheDailyConnoisseur I am going to order the soak you used in this video. Thanks! (Also thanks for introducing me to Mersea. I ordered two pieces last season and love them.)
What is the watch you are wearing in this video? It is so pretty but you didn't mention it in the comments. BTW-Love the dress!
I’ve ordered from Mersea and love those items. Your pieces give me ideas for items already in my closet. Other items I am able to find a similar piece at a lower price point. Thank you for this type of video!
Nice to see someone getting ready for spring! Here in Northern Ohio it’s 35° and raining! Yuck! I might have to get out my spring clothes just for some therapy!
Well it snowed here this past weekend so it's not here yet in CA
Love the black silk pants Jennifer, BUT - the have to be dry cleaned according to the website! I am trying to shift away from any dry clean items bc of environment, expense and inconvenience! Did you hand wash these pants?
I never dry cleaned them. They wash beautifully on delicate and hang dry.
❤❤❤TY!! I may order them :)
GoGo shoes are on sale now (only size 35 and 35.5, sad for me!).
Can I ask how you found caring for the Lilysilk Ameria blouse? I have purchased it but am finding ironing it to be rather a nightmare! I generally have excellent skills when it comes to the laundering of clothing, household linens etc but I can’t for the life of me remove all of the fine creases in this blouse! I hand wash it and drip dry.
I am terribly disappointed and have not worn it because of this…
I've been enjoying the wide leg high-waisted jeans from Boden. They have several different ones that come and go throughout the seasons.
Ah, those sound great! I purchased the Everlane ones and am waiting for them to arrive.
I love hearing your “theater talk” with words like as “wardrobe” comes in! I recently reread Anne of Green Gables, such a creative and relaxing reread. I love the free Audiobook version. Thank you Jennifer. Please talk more about your theater experience in future. The theater are hosting a musical locally but I’m nervous to go alone. It’s Sound of Music and ends March 6th! I pray I find courage and a buddy to go with me. Maybe my 6 year old daughter? Talk soon :)
Take her
Maybe going casual will help. Buy your ticket, walk in, and take a seat. I have to do things spontaneously and have gone to pageants, musicals, and plays on my own. Seems everyone attends the way they want. Few dress as expected, some dress nicely, and most go casual. I like to look nice or not quite dressy casual.
Don't miss this musical!
Dont you have any shoes at all?
Jennifer, you are a lovely girl.
I'm getting dressing gown and slippers vibes from the linen dress and croissant shoes, sorry...
Oh it's not just me then. I didn't think it was a flattering look at all.
That striped shirt dress NEEDS to be altered. It is too big, sloppy and not flattering on you. Slim it down and hem it too mid calf or just below knee. Nice low wedge sandal would be perfect. I know you love it, but it needs little tweaking.
I never wear anything “as is”. I buy a size with room to alter to fit my body.
The white dress (with the black boots) is great. It really fits you well. The black boots don’t go. Sorry.
I’m sorry but that dress looks like a dressing gown (robe) it has no vibrancy and makes you look washed out. It needs something to make it look like a dress.🥲
Now I feel mean - I’d like to say the dress you “ruined” looks wonderful on you and I really think you look great in the Everlane jumpsuit. Maybe it’s your hair with the colour of the new dress - I don’t know but I really believe everyone should dress to please themselves first of all. I wish you good health to wear anything you like yourself in and treat my comment as irrelevant. Which I’m sure you will do without me saying.
I think that’s the style. It’s linen and oversized
I tend to agree with you, but Jennifer style is like that. I am not into her style, but she inspires me to dress well on a daily basis.
Your comment is not rude btw, I personally think it is a nice input, which Jennifer of course, have the right to consider or not, because hey, this is HER style and she owns it to her liking!
I usually agree with you, but, the mersea dress is not my favorite on you. It looks way too big, not just oversized. Looks comfy, but, I don’t think this is a good color for you. I’m sure many ppl may not agree, but, this is my honest opinion.
I thought the first dress was a robe at first. Not too fond of it.
Are you still using the function of beauty hair products ? Your hair looks sleeker.
I love the white blouse with lace. I ordered it in the smallest size but was too big. I'm 5' 1" I need petite so I hope the company will start making them.
Your new linen dress is so pretty. I love the sleeves! It looked so cute with the red neck scarf. I adore Rungolee clothes but they are a little out of my price range. Still, I might tempt myself and go to their actual shop since we have one in St Louis. 🫣😊
