I make 'honey' from lilac flowers. Has a pale pinky hue of colour to it. Beautiful way of studying botanics and turning them into foods, oils and salves.

    • @TheRamblingRoseMedia
      @TheRamblingRoseMedia 2 місяці тому +126

@batacumba no, but you can make sweet syurp using the fermentation process instead of steeping and boiling as flowers like lilac and violets are delicate and water will remove its properties. You can create the syrup by picking the flowers of the lilac and layering them with sugar in a sealed jar over a couple of months - one layer of flower then a layer of sugar all the way to the top of the jar - i believeits a Japanesemethod as ive seen it also done with sakura cherry blossom. You can also make lilac infused honey using real raw honey and steeping your local flowers in raw honey for a couple of days. Hope you find this helpful.

Man, I'm so sorry to hear about that "oopsie" you had it Walmart. 18 months seems to me like an extremely oppressive amount of time for something like a theft. Unless you took the store hostage and held a woman at gunpoint for half an hour and made her pee her pants, I can't see giving you 18 months. I mean, what did you do fillet a child? Sheesh it's like they think you reinvented crime or something!
Honestly, I don't know what you did but it still didn't deserve 18 months. But that's justice in America for you… fairness for sale, and depression for the masses. I'm really truly sorry for your situation Bro, and please don't be upset when I say this but I'm gonna say a prayer for you and your safety. Don't let "The Man" get you down, we are rooting for you! Good advice. Candy making (though this should get to the soft crack at most) is almost as scary as deep frying, in my opinion. And there are some really good chefs who consider home deep-frying too dangerous. It’s not quite as hot, but it’s infinitely stickier and harder to get off.

Right. Buy local, small business honey and support a carbon negative sugar solution. Honeybees are better classified as naturalized instead of invasive in the Americas because they are not native but don't compete with native pollinators. Beekeepers rent their colonies out to pollinate the local fruit orchards we all benefit from. If you are vegan, it is arguably ethical to support local small business honey businesses because these keepers save the bees from fumigation and they have a lot better quality of life outlook. They also pollinate a lot of native plants that are being effected by pollinator populations declining. This video is awesome but ideally we have both options saved in the cupboards in glass jars instead of swearing off honey.

@@convects9656 Since the dawn of time humans were very well structured to understand what syrup and honey is.
With that logic, anything that has that hue is “honey” when it’s not.
Y’all just want to put new labels on things because you don’t want the normal reality of what reality is.
Explaining the logic as to why it is called “fake honey” will always be redundant because that ideology can be applied to any and everything … which means it’s redundant
Thus we use labels which accurately describe the thing for what it is.
You do not see people in bars saying “can you please add the fake honey”
Why? Because it has absolutely nothing to do with honey and not at all what they want as there’s such a leap of a difference between the two.
Chimps look like humans. Are they fake humans?
Dogs can be mistaken for coyotes or wolves. Are they fake coyotes and wolves?
Domesticated cats can easily be mistake for wild, in the jungle cats. Are they fake wild animals?
You wear a costume for Halloween. Are you fake doctor when you dress up as one? Or is it just Halloween and you’re dressing up?
This can go on for decades. It’s syrup and that’s it.
Stop trying to relabel things to fit the big hole y’all have in your brain. If you’re in need of a hobby or something, go do it.
Don’t change the entire English language because you’re incapable of utilizing a dictionary to figure out what that thing is that you’re seeing.
You have a phone at your fingertips that has the entire world’s knowledge with the click of a button.
If you call it “fake honey” it truly speaks to your intellect.
And a sculpture made to appear like an apple, a human, a dog or a bird will never be a “fake apple” because there is a thing called “intent” in the English language.
They are not *intending* to pose as something fake, they are sculpting an item to replicate life. It is widely known and understood that it is nothing but a statue
When something is “fake” there is an intent to decieve and that’s just not there.
Thought it’d be pretty obvious in that as even a toddler is well aware of this basic understanding.

It's also a great alternative for vegan cooking! @@SasbatabataWell it isn't honey...it is a highly condensed fruit sirup.
It has none of the added ingredients or benefits of real honey.
You could easily fix that by calling it a honey replacement or fruit syrup as honey replacement.
Now, if you wonder why I'm so anal about the difference, in my country we've had for decades a fight with certain food manufacturers switching out cheese for low grade "analogous cheese" in short, oil, emulgators and water to save a quick buck, and then calling that cheese.
It opens the door for deceptive practices by corporations and activists, who then try to feed people worse alternatives to either save money and increase their profits, or make themselves feel good.
And for the record, I have lactosis intolerance, so I know what it means to not be able to drink or eat something.
As sometimes you get replacements, but your selection is rather limited.
And you can't always throw lactase tablets on the problem, as those are more for emergencies. Like being at a party and no lactosis free food existing. If I eat to much food containing lactosis and cover that with lactase tablets, I get some side effects like Dandruff.
The most annoying thing these days is people going "Oh just get the vegan alternative" despite quite a few of them not having the same health benefits or are actually worse for your health, like coconut joghurt instead of real joghurt.
The former has tons of sugar, pretty much no protein, while the latter has more calcium and lots of protein and unless you get a sweetened one, no sugar.

Aww doggo bein a good boy in the BG had me distracted not gonna lie 😂❤
That pineapple scrap syrup looks hella good tho 🤤 I like using the fruit scraps to make fruit leather or dehydrated fruit chips unless it goes into the compost but never thought to make ‘honey’ with it

This would be considered barely pineapple infused simple syrup, based on table sugar. Basically good flavor to high fructose corn syrup.
