I use a cramulet because my croc speak amulet it inside it. Allows you to speak with crocodiles. You can use it to actually see what crocodiles are saying rather than seeing them just say 'grr' so helps to predict when you can click or if they failed a catch

Sorry for the late reply, I'm not sure what you mean about followers, but Golden's roses are a random drop when farming any of the flowers.

Flowers, or roses cause specific types of whirlygigs to spawn. If you only want to catch plain ones then you don't require flowers
