As someone who frequently experiences anxiety, I love the added detail that every step of the "safety procedure" actually has the opposite effect of what it claims to be doing. Isolation heightens mental stress, turning off the lights heightens your peripheral senses, wearing headphones dampens everything *but* your auditory hallucinations. Whoever made this tape *wants* a broken test subject
@@Lawsonomy1 Because a lot of people really will just numbly follow corporate directions. A smart/cautious person would get filtered out. You want stubborn or stupid for this.
i actually think it implies the "hallucinations" are not hallucinations at all, and are instead intrusions into the viewer's reality by the hostile alternate reality, so instead of telling you to "ignore the intruding entities" or something spooky like that they tell you to "ignore the hallucinations" while giving you instructions to muffle external sounds and obscure external entities.
Here's my theory (*Big spoilers alert*): The entity is Dr. John Walker. It's revealed that one playing the game is Ian Parker. Given that the entity says "You know who I am" and "I sent the first signal" it would seem reasonable. Also if you look closely at what is presumably the entity's face, it bears resemblance to Dr. Walker (long face, large forehead, big nose) and the p3rs0n in the "themselves" photograph. Furthermore, he states that he is only there to *watch* the destruction that will come from others; not that *he's* the one that came to destroy the world. My guess is that "Phantom Walker" had previously sent a signal out from his universe ("I initiated the cycle"), which attracted attention from deadly hostile universes that entered his world and destroyed it (hence the photographs that show a *murdered* planet; not one that was always messed up, but one with previously living forests and dogs). Since Dr. Walker made the same mistake, this world will suffer the same fate, it has already been set in stone. Parker's monologue about the signal continuing forever and all the hidden universes that were smart enough to not respond to the signal further shows this. Also this is total speculation, but perhaps the "good" universe that responded was actually deceiving Walker and they contained hostile creatures which could possibly explain the weird phenomena in other chapters. They could also be remnant entities from Phantom's world, or entities from the hidden worlds entering through fissures. Your thoughts?
Good grief dude, I won't spoil anything in the comments but that BLEW ME AWAY. It baffles me that this series is so underrated, but I get the idea it won't stay that way :)
I'll admit I typically have never been captured by much analog horror and I never seem to have the patience for it, but your series thus far has me HOOKED. This is really flipping awesome.
My theory is that Ian Parker or whatever he became after the lab disaster is being made to play this anomalous game and that the entity is Dr. John Walker who created the machine that first sent out the signal.
Man i love these theories!! i've been meaning to get back into story writing and analog horror + all the theories in the comment sections make for great inspiration x)
The face at the end looks quite similar to Dr. John Walker (From the signal episode): Long face, large forehead. It also looks pretty similar to the face in the "themselves" photograph.
15:40 I think the entity in the game here is the same entity in Mythical Creatures judging by what we see here. The feet in the doorway is that little girl's. We're seeing things from the monster's perspective!
Oh god, well spotted! Gotta love these wee connections, they satisfy my brain a lot. I like the whole opposite perspective thing going on as well. Mythical Creatures is genuinely the most dread-filled and nightmarish video I've watched in ages, though I may be a little biased here as I struggled with regulating fear responses up till I was about 18. I had to shut my bedroom door completely at night, the pitch darkness outside it made my brain go into overdrive. Seeing that initial video brought back that sheer visceral terror I felt back then, the door opening filled my adrenaline receptors and emptied my bowels. I feel daft for not noticing at first, but it really threw me off guard when I read your comment. It's almost like the boogeyman outside the door got demystified a bit. Just a bit, that shit is still pants-changingly scary. 🤣
oh my god the payoff in this episode was freaking insane. i was glued to my screen until the last second. the creature is terrifying but at the same time but god im so sad for them
I haven't seen an Analogue Horror with such a great script in a long time. The story, the plot progression, the imagery and not to mention the voice acting! It checks out all the boxes, 5/5 for me
Somewhat spoilers for the vid but I just wanted to say: God I am so glad I found this series through just looking up analog horror one day. The premise and setting you have made are so interesting and applying the Fermi Paradox on a multiversal scale is outright ingenious. Keep up the good stuff!
Great Episode, I loved how the monster screamed, it sounded almost human in my opinion, I guess I just put it in my head that it sounded like that because it used to be human
Just finished watching it after obtaining a party pack of zero sugar baja blast and a underrated cotton candy energy drink for the caffeine spike to ultra focus on the details of this. Loved it. Whoever this person or team is in real life is extremely underrated. I've been keeping my eye on them since mythical creatures and that haunting fairy tale lullaby music started playing and have been near obsessively checking on this channel periodically since that particular video. The dopamine I'm feeling across my skin is delectable. Please continue anything you do because it's not often I'm genuinely in love wirh content people create to this.
I saw your updates on Twitter for this entry and I have to say PLEASE take all the time you need. This was brilliant! You have so much talent. I look forward to your next video.
I like how at 4:07, the 'safety procedures' segment is a nice little 4th-wall break telling you for a better experience watching the rest of the video.
God dang, this is some of the best analog horror series I have seen, the story, the world building, it's all amazing. I applaude your work my friend, you truly are amazing and I will eagerly wait for what you cook up next. Great job :)
This has to be one of the most criminally underrated analog horror channels operating. The pacing is the thing that sets this apart from so many others in the field. Chilling Abyss exemplifies the story telling metric of granting enough information to pique the watchers curiosity, but not so much that it feels deliberately obfuscating. You're given enough narrative rope to hang your anxious inquiries upon, putting the viewer in that perfectly unnerving sweet spot of ineffable apprehension. It may take time to understand why you're afraid whilst watching Chilling Abyss's videos, but I've yet to feel underwhelmed or disappointed with the outcome of any of them. They've earned my lingering sense of cold dread!
Man this was seriously so good, watched it several times over, love the design of the monster and the overall sound design was amazing. Also, wonder if we'll ever get a full version or that song in welcome to paradise, love it!
i really like this! i'd say the jumpscares were largely ineffective, though they did help build this terrifying tension present throughout. i hope you expand on this atmosphere of dread even further in whatever comes next.
Well this just gave me a weird dream. Jiant moths and other insects were flying over the wall and were regularly shot. Completely unrelated, five individuals(previously siix, but she got errased from existance entirely) were trying to figure out how stop these creatures from coming through. One of them somehow got blood or plasma of one of said creatures on his hand. This resulted numbess throughout the hand and body and hallucinations of a tall, lanky figure drawing ever closer.
The images that flash in and out of existence is very similar to the experience of gazing into a scrying mirror, just random images that start out hard to make out then clear up and vanish. Thats an interesting touch
Is subject 294b native american? We're the only group I can think of that would be societally integrated (historically speaking) due to the endless stream of various abuses suffered over the decades at the hands of the canadian and american governments to "kill the native save the man" as I remember my mother commenting on the rhetoric of the time being.
Why in the world isn't this everywhere and yet people talk about (sorry to throw shade) the low effort nonsense like people fusing with godzilla suits in a powerpoint presentation? This is so well thought out, so well made, so well executed. It's genuinely imaginative and unnerving. Could well be made into a movie or TV show

I thought headphones bit was particularly nonsensical. Why would they even put that down, especially if they are trying to deceive someone?
