  • Dorset Lookout Tower has breathtaking 360 degree views. The observation deck of this historic tower stands 142 metres (465 feet) above Lake of Bays.
The tower is located off Highway 35 just north of the village of Dorset.
The original tower was built in 1922, was 25 metres high (82 feet) and used as a fire lookout tower until 1961. The current tower was built in 1967 and is 30 metres high (100 feet) and was erected for visitors to enjoy the view.
Visitors are welcome to climb to the observation deck, which is 142 metres (465 feet) above Lake of Bays, and enjoy the view from the tree-top lookout as well as ground level lookouts
The location include picnic tables, restrooms, information kiosk, gift shop and hiking trail. The Dorset Lookout Tower is one of the most incredible views in Ontario, and is worth the trip to the idyllic town of Dorset on the Lake of Bays. The breathtaking 360 degree view of the beautiful Muskoka landscape is truly one that you must experience for yourself.
A road-trip to the Dorset Lookout Tower is a wonderful experience in spring, summer and fall, but definitely most popular during the Autumn season. When the leaves gives us a riot of colours to view of the amazing display from above the treetops. If you want to visit during the fall, pick a weekday to make the trip. Weekends are very busy during the fall, and you can potentially experience long wait times.
Dorset is home to the SS Bigwin, Dorset Heritage Museum and the Robinson General Store, places that that would definitely be great to stop and visit while you are here.
    Open everyday 10am to 6pm
