If preserving the song was important they wouldn't have changed the drum line. I think it just has less sound effects because they sounded bad and were annoying.

It's the same files. The drums here are not the ones in the actual song, but they are the same as the one in Rock Band and the guitar chart is identical the the original Guitar Hero chart. Harmonix 100% reused assets here.
I commented this on another video, but they probably got the masters, the unedited version of the song... also it depends on which role you're playing; if you're being drums, drums will be a tad bit louder than the rest, same with vocals, bass and lead... also the drum line is different on here, which probably made it sound even more different
