    I've worked at Vermont Castings building wood stoves, and my first job was installing the windows. There is a "right" side and a wrong side that goes towards the inside. The inside is conductive. PLEASE do not install it backwards. It will ruin the glass, or even shatter it. Also, that black paint has lead in it. Spraying outside was a good idea, but a mask should have been worn too

    • @tbusch63
      @tbusch63 11 місяців тому +1

      Black Paint does not contain lead. Lead was used in WHITE paint. If you add lead to black paint your going to end up with a grey leaded paint which has been illegal to use in the USA since the early 70s. Just sayin'

    Nesting boxes should be far away from the front entrance door. It helps. Hens want seclusion while laying and sitting. That's why the far right nesting box isn't being used

    Should put the wide side of your roosting board up so your chickens can keep their feet flat under their bellies and not curved around a narrow sharp edge. Toes will then be covered better in cold weather preventing frostbite, and it's more comfortable for them.

    One thing you might think of is collecting the sand that you use when sandblasting try it in an enclosed area so you can reuse your sand. I used to work in a sandblasting factory and we always reused the sand, Just saying this because sandblasting is always good for restoring metal just don't use it too long in one spot will eat the metal up quickly,
    Love all your videos my friend and hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to come.

    I have an idea for when you feed the pigs to keep grain from falling out of their bowl. Get a tall cardboard funnel (can't leave it out in rain) or a plastic pipe (better) to put over the fence. A metal pipe may be too heavy for Brandi/girls. Place one end of funnel in bowl, other end for dumping in the feed into 🎯 ... No more spills!!👍 YAY 🐖...... (🐔🐓 won't like the idea). Happy feeding, Dutch...Btw,
    ❤ all the waddling🦆🦆 ducks when you opened their door 😆

    I love love love your masonry heater. Not being bossy but just some advice. If you don't want the doors on it to rust anymore once that paint is dry and set you should rub the doors down with lard. Not bacon grease or sausage grease but lard. Just coat it really thick and let it sit on there for a day or two then rub the excess off with sweatshirt cleaning cloth or mismatched winter socks turned wrong side out. It's cast iron and cast iron will rust unless you season it once a year with lard. Ask any older mountain folks and they will tell you that you have to season or reseason cast iron. I've been subbed since yall were at your other house with Gabe. I really enjoy watching you and Brandee and the kids and animals. It's great to see how the kids and the farm has grown. I enjoy watching the creek property. I like watching how yall share your joys at the Creek property. Don't feel defeated over some stripped bolts. I know it's frustrating when you want to finish a project but just start counting all your blessings out loud and naming them. Defeat isn't an option. Lol.

    Dutch, if you get yourself a large cardboard box to put your objects in before you sand blast then you will be able to capture and reuse your sand. It should last you a long time and multiple uses. BTW putting your hand in front of the sandblasting top to check if it is working is a perfect way to deliver your fingers and inbed sand in your bone. It's like watching a scary movie every time you climb a ladder hanging over your lake front property or start working with a new tool.

    Dutch I always thought your best was up to high! I’m thinking that’s why they don’t lay in the last one! They fly over from roost to the other two. JMO now that I watched the whole video I understand why they are high! The dogs! The third nesting box moved was a great idea! Love your videos and following you!

    Hey Dutch, I’m sure someone else already stated this but if you save a big box and spray your media for the sand blaster in that box you can reuse the media 3-4 times before it’s real dirty and needs to be replaced. It hurt my wallet pocket watching you blow off all that good media when you still had more work to do.
