Bruh this was my first marching show. Listening to this makes me remember the smell of sunscreen, and the really strong smell of grass, and the never ending swarm of wasps and bees, and the feeling of the sun burning my skin off, and the feeling of going inside after some hours and finally eating and not even minding how awful and sweaty everyone smelled. And then going into the practice rooms and getting yelled at for being immature classic trumpets. And getting in the car and mom handing me a purple Powerade and talking on the phone with my aunt. And going home and collapsing in a chair and waiting for my legs to stop shaking before I could shower. In other words, a good mixture of nostalgia and PTSD
Repetition. Repetition. Repetition. I would suggest doing it line by line and move on once you’ve got that. It’s hard to get at first but as the season goes on it’ll almost be like second nature.
We are doing queens opener for marching band this year but ours goes in this order Fat bottomed girls Respect I love rock and roll We will rock you 4 measures of Bohemian Rhapsody And that's it. For our closer we are doing the whole song of bohemian rhapsody though.
This probably makes the top 5 list of my favorite all time marching band arrangements. I love it when you can find a challenging piece of music like this that's still fun to play and recognizable for the audience.
2:00 that 1st tbn part. The high version of the Bb,A,G, and on. Its easy, if your at god level, or have a Alto or a Soprano tbn. Me? I cant of course. Lol
This was my absolute favorite song to play. My band almost didn't get to play it, but another song ended up getting cancelled so we did Queen Opener. I'm so glad to be snare line, because holy *shit* this song is fun.
I'm currently working on this for my Queen Show this fall! We're a high school band of 120 kinds out of a 400 student high school. I can't wait for the finished result
@@diegoantoniotucker9856 Here's a late reply to your late reply. We ended up getting a superior and scored the highest in our class at state. Our color guard won best in show. Good times.
YOOOOOO my sister did this one when she was a freshman! this show won basically all of their competitions, and im going to the same marching band in a couple months (im a tiny 8th grader)
Not sure if you auditioned yet or not, but if you didn't, here's a few tips; Show that you know rhythm. Once you get that, then add the different sticking in. Show the different dynamical changes, such as crecendos and decrecendos, and make sure that dynamical change isn't too soon, i should be spread out over the entire period of when it should happen. Probably the biggest tip is to just keep repping it, let them see you know that piece inside and out. And rudiments, those are very important. This is my fifth year for snare in marching band, since my old school was so small, they started marching band in seventh grade, so if you have any questions, I've almost seen it all. Good luck at your audition!
I love Queen Opener, but I look at it some parts doesn't seem very pleasant to me. This is one of our rep in my marching band including Bohemian Rhapsody and Crazy Little Thing Called Love. I look foward to play this on my sax. 😀
Were you picked as the 2017-2018 section leader? Or the 2016-2017 section leader?? I got picked for section leader for the 2017-2018 marching season, and we are doing this opener. I CANT WAIT!
Paladin Ultra was it one for the crowd? I'm excited because a lot of the parents of our players including band, guard, cheer, football, etc. Are from the era of queen so they're all obviously gonna know it so its a really exciting for me! Although the freshmen gave a rather hilarious look when they saw it.
+PierceMySleepingBridesPanic!BoyFallingScared when I watch the recordings of our show, the second "we will rock you" comes on the crowd starts singing along haha! I'm sure it's a pretty good crowd pleaser for all the people who love queen, Tom Wallace sis a food job arranging it :)
We did a kings and queens show
Elvis- can’t help falling in love
Michael Jackson- beat it
Aretha Franklin- respect
Queen - bohemian rhapsody
This sounds amazing. What school is it?
That's a really awesome show idea, I'm impressed.
I love how they gave vibraphone and marimba difficult sets of 8th notes at 168 BPM that no-one will ever hear over the drum line and woodwinds
We need a queen closer now
My school marching band did the queen show last year 💕
Lakeview Fort Oglethorpe in Ringgold? (Im just assuming based on the uniform and the red gym in your profile picture)

listening to things like this makes me wish anyone in my band knew how to play their instruments :/
Same.. all the good players are leaving next year and I'm so scared for out show 😭
Our trumpets suck 😂 I think my band played this in a parade once but I wasn’t at the school. They played it a year before my freshmen year

Doing this entire show + bohemian and crazy little thing, in my senior year, and I'm one of three drum majors. #excited
I can see where our band director got the idea for our entire show now 😂😂😂
We also did this + bohemian and crazy little thing, and it was amazing, even with COVID it was a great show for being a frshman
My band is playing this as the opener this year, crazy little thing called love, and bohemian rhapsody
mine too!!
Do you go to cooper?
my band is doing the exact same songs in the same order!!
How did it go??
Any time I hear my past band shows I get Vietnam flashbacks. I’m relieved to be out of band tbh

At my school we have to conduct this for our drum major tryouts. It’s in 2 weeks. Wish me luck.
our show is consisting of
Fat Bottomed Girls
Queen Opener

Did you make it
This is my band's first year being a festival band after being competitive and I hope this will be just as fun! It sounds great
OUR SCHOOL IS DOING THIS. I'm in colorguard 🚩🚩🚩
実際にマーチングのショーで使うならオープニングよりエンディングの方がいいように感じた。
Tom Wallace is the only arranger I really like. Everyone else's stuff always sounds so corny.
That moment when you find this on UA-cam a couple years later and hum the part you played and were blasted into a world of halftime flashbacks.
I’m conducting this for drum major tryouts!! 😅

me too with the exact same other songs but this music is a bit too easy for sax isnt it but thats my opinion
Alto?
I am doing it as well. If ya practice hard you'll get it fast. Try to mark what you need to practice and mark the stuff you have trouble remembering.
Collin Duke yeah alto but even though the music is fast with some runs its repetitive and easy to get after a few minutes
Us to I March at LFO Warriors
This is our opener this year
I have to play this this year anybody wanna help me with the 3rd bass drum part?
I have to do it with 1st base drum part, oof
