The FLIR K2 is a rugged firefighting TIC designed for heavy use in search and rescue, whether inside or outside the fire zone. This thermal camera features 160x120 resolution and is able to withstand temperatures up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit. For years, this was the TIC of choice for fire departments on a budget thanks to its powerful specifications and rugged, fire-resistant design. Designed with firefighters in mind, this camera is simple to operate even with a gloved hand and drop tested to 2 meters.
New to the market is the FLIR K1, a smaller and even more affordable firefighting TIC. This thermal imager also features 160x120 resolution, powerful FLIR features, a rugged design, and a 2 meter drop test rating. That said, it has a few big differences when compared to the K2. For starters, the K1 has a full button interface, a non-removable battery, and lower temperature resistance ratings. Check out the video and our detailed comparison at the link above to learn more.

You are looking at the firefighting color palette which is greyscale unless temperatures are extremely high like you would see in a fire situation. You should be able to change this within the camera's menus. Hello, thanks for the feedback. We'll consider range testing for future videos. FLIR doesn't always include a set distance for their imagers since the most accurate way to to gauge distance is a combination of your camera's resolution and field of view. Generally, the K2 would be better since it has a more narrow field of view than the K1, allowing the pixels to more accurately focus on objects farther away.
