Some people can't learn except through personal experience. Have at it! 🍷🍿🚬😑
I am minding my black woman business. A lot of POC come to Ameeica and look down on Black American, not realizing that had it not been for Black Americans, they would not have been in America. I am minding my business. This has nothing to do with us. Black Americans always knew.
But in doing so you’re generalising them too? Racism doesn’t beget racism and we should all care about each other. No minority is perfect, I think giving up is a sure way to let the racists win.
America is racist, doesn’t matter red or blue, lib or con. They are all racist against Indians. You guys don’t realize that 90% Indians vote blue. More than black men. Since we are in small numbers and don’t have good representation, we work hard and have higher income, education than others, we are targeted by both blacks and whites. It’s time Indians stop voting blue (ie stop voting at all), else we are being taken for granted by libs. So don’t hide behind Black business card.
Im surprised by Kiran… her teacher tried to tell her, her acquaintances who knew the history tried to warn her, even how the politicians were speaking should have clued her in…. At this point when you’re missing so many clues; you just don’t want to look for them
This is the same thing with Filipino MAGA voters who always brag about how America is better than the Philippines and how their lives are better than everyone elses. It made me remember of this saying that I've heard since childhood: "If it was a snake, it would've bitten you by now." They refused to look at the truth even when it's right in front of them.
You’re the problem. Racism is racism. You’re literally doing the exact same thing you claim to be against. There are millions of Indians who aren’t racist who are now being subjected to horrific hate, and you clearly don’t give af.
That leopard pic is so adorable. I like how she's continuously stating that liberals are perceiving things as racism, suspect racism, or believe there's racism from the right. Even after she was smacked in the face with their racism she uses the same terminology. Cognitive dissidence at its finest. She's seen the evidence that it's true, and she still can't phrase it like it's blatant reality. She does admit that there is an issue, but I don't think she can cope with the reality that it's always been there, and it's widespread. It's like she's compartmentalizing the evidence as a fringe occurrence.
I think a lot of 21st century immigrants hear about America being the land of opportunity and want to believe they can get ahead if they work well and keep their head down/don't make waves, but it shatters what they've been told about America to admit all the toxic traditions we have had here since the beginning that older minority groups talk about are real.
I think deep down she still thinks the racism against the others is just fine, she only doesn`t want it to be directed at her. If they would stop directing it at her she would go back to being totally fine with it and pretending like it doesn`t exist. She has no problem with racism, she has a problem that it impacts her.
@@anthill1510 that wouldn't surprise me. If true, it still fits with my first comment except that it might be intentional denial instead of cognitive dissidence.
Ive been watching Marry My Husband, there’s a manhwa with the same name but found the drama and have been binging. I’m not even married or in a relationship and it triggers me, but it’s pretty good
I'm side eyeing the author of that op-ed for not noticing (or being blind on purpose) until now. I've noticed it since I've been a kid. They keep thinking "doing things the right way" will shield them. Nope!
I can’t believe she put that in writing under her own name featuring a picture of herself. That’s the kind of thing you couldn’t water board out of me.
What blows my mind is that these kinds of people - the kind that dont mind racism unless/until it directly affects them - they get mad at people who call out racism even if they’re not personally affected by it. Like they can’t wrap their minds around someone unaffected by an issue fighting against that issue.
I don't feel sorry for her. At first she was too young and inexperienced to speak on matters she knew nothing about it. Now she only has an issue because she is being othered. It's almost like bigots group all of them together together 🙄
Look, I'm farther left than everyone I know personally. I got to my conclusions by learning about history and feminism (specifically womanism and intersectionalities between class and gender) and I have to ask: why do these people think we are fighting so hard? Was there no intellectual curiosity? Not once do people ask "huh, why are these people marching and fighting so hard?" It's the lack of curiosity and empathy that consistently bothers me.
They are on the top of the caste system where they are. They are taught they are genetically superior to everyone including their own people and Americans. If you are the best and smartest you never see a reason to listen to advice.
I think the term compartmentalizing may apply here. Like the other commenter mentioned, they see themselves as the same. So when we're talking about the history here, they put themselves in that category and don't care to venture outside of it because it's never been a possibility it would happen to them, or they could ignore if it did because they always thought the ends justified the means and it usually does. And when everyone else is saying that BP are just complaining because they think we want free handouts, it's easy to fall in line with that narrative because it's multiple groups saying it. Hence, why they come expecting us to jump into the suit and cape when wrong actually happens to them. Just once, I'd like consequences of one's actions to not be interrupted by BP. Just once, they need to find out just how bad it can really be. But I understand that it means people who don't think like this would be affected too...
Mexican girl here for me a win for the black community was always a win for the Hispanic community. I never understood the racism towards black people maybe it’s that I was raised with a more progressive family. I will never understand why some poc think it will never happen to them or think it’s victim mentally. Sorry for the rant
I don't understand it either, but my sister told me some Hispanics see themselves as "Spanish" and get upset by the notion they aren't, and I have a dumbass cousin who insists he's Italian. 🤷I guess some people just have to learn the hard way.
I care more about human business. Black people, Indians, Chinese, anyone can be a racist. Does that mean we all turn a blind eye to each other? That’s lazy.
Love everybody, but dont disrespect black Americans experience as if you know America better than we do....cause your finding out quickly that you don't
Yup and black americans were the ones who fought for the civil rights for all minorities and to allow immigrants from non-european countries (only ppl from Europe were allowed to immigrants to the USA back then). Without the legislations passed because of african americans, most of the non-white immigrants would've never been allowed into America and enjoy equality.
This is why teaching accurate American history is important. These folks have been taught the alternative history, the one that leaves our history out, making them like children who never learn the truth behind Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny.
As a Bengali woman I had to say something. None of my family ever voted for republicans. We people of colour need to make sure we are understanding we aren’t white and never will be. If one can hear and see how black Americans are treated daily prior to trump and actually care it isn’t that difficult to stand beside them to help fight against racism in the USA.
As an Indian American that grew up lower middle class in a predominantly republican white area during the 2000s, the article woman reeks of privilege. She didn't see racism because she was cushioned by economic class. I have never grown up without Indians being called filthy. My mother cried the day she realized that despite all the maximum setting airvent when cooking even eggs to prevent spice smell in the house, requiring bathing twice a day and several sets of shampooing, dousing us in strong scented lotions and perfumes, refusing to let anyone leave the house in clothes that were washed earlier than the night before, her kids would still be treated as if they were filthy just because of their skin color. Even now, when white people say we and our house don't smell or seem like "typical Indians", we see the racism veiled in the compliment. We learned the lesson then, I guess the privileged ones get to learn it now.
Hard cold reality, indeed! I worked with a white woman with an Indian husband, and she called his parents filthy. She would say these things, and I would just stare. She was my boss.
Exactly, these people cherry pick examples to promote hate. Indians are always treated poorly by blacks and whites. Because they see our hard work and know that they cannot match it.
The crazy thing is...Puerto Ricans are American. Anyone born there, the US virgin Islands, mariana islands, Guam and American Samoan are American by birth as they are US territories
Were they watching only 🦊news??? I'm whyt, and maggats have been openly racist this whole time! (Meaning, I'm sure I miss a lot as a whyt person, but I don't watch 🦊 or tv news.) Even Indian people near me have been telling me how very racist folks in the liberal bubble where I live are. I guess the good news is that people are learning the truth...
This is actually sad.. that they came here and thought they were better than the ones who fought for their right to come here and make a life for themselves. I am very glad that they are finally learning… too bad they had to FAFO. All they had to do was listen to us.

I was born in the Caribbean, a proud Black naturalized American now. My father’s ancestors are Indians. What’s true about people in the African and Indian diaspora: they look down on Black Americans. They don’t connect the dots of European/ “whiteness” oppression as being the reason they left their homelands to come to the land of success. They don’t know their own history. Another side effect of European Imperialism. Fred Hampton was killed because he worked on creating coalitions between all disparate groups. Poor Blacks, poor whites, people of Latin descent, unions just to name a few. I think/ hope that all the non-white, and white adjacent groups are going to find out what the history of whiteness is and will feel a slight burn compared to what generations of Black Americans have endured building a country that treats them as Dalits.
Okay. This kind of talk has been going on for years. I heard a couple of my co-workers talking about the Indian students who rented houses. My CW's were saying that the Indians "carried bedbugs" and "left the houses dirty" and "smelling like curry." It was terrible, and untrue. (I have also heard similar things from commenters on YT.)
I worked in the hotel industry. From my CWs there I overheard the most outrageous BS. As far as they were concerned all POC carry bedbugs, to the point my manager would fumigate rooms where POC stayed for more than two nights. She never checked and did it to get a strike against the guests. So effed up.
@@rainbeauxunicorn5237 It's just bizarre to me. I'm from the UK where there is a sizeable minority of people of Indian and Pakistani descent. Everyone has different experiences on Both sides of the aisle. No one group speaks for the overall movement. Staying out of that, yet it’s so disappointing..
Being against H1-B visas isn't racist. Because there are American citizens of all races and minorities being denied jobs because businesses are importing cheap labor from foreign nations.
I used to work in an IT recruiting firm about a decade ago. There are certain tech skill-sets, QA testers and DBAs come to mind where 90+ percent resumes are from H1Bs. And this is based off of searching resumes on the various job boards, so you can’t argue about low wages, because these were people who were uploading their resumes without having a specific job in mind.
@@tsm784I work in tech right now. You could actually call me a tech exec. It’s almost always the money. Most of the H1Bs I’ve ever seen or hired are green out of college or a code camp. The overwhelming majority aren’t coming with ANY special skills. I had a friend whose job was to bring in Indian mechanical engineers for different companies. I’ve seen their paperwork. There was nothing special about them either. It’s the money, Lebowski.
@@jaycol21 Yeah? Well that’s just like your opinion man (couldn’t resist). If you don’t mind me asking, does your company hold the employees’ H1Bs or do you hire them through a third party. Also I’m very surprised that most of the H1s are “green out of college”, because i have to assume that if you’re hiring straight out of college, then a good portion of them have to be F1s.
@@jaycol21 exactly the more Asian and Indian engineers we have hired the more it erodes their stereotype of being smarter. Their small population in America benefits them now but they are becoming exposed.
@@tsm784 It’s been a mixed bag and it’s a distinction without a difference for this conversation. 2nd best employee I’ve ever had was an young guy who was an H1B out of Mexico City that had gone through a code camp and we got through a contract house. (FTR The best was in her late 50s and had used punchcards in college). Most have been in their mid to late 20s. So fresh outta college is only slightly hyperbolic. My point is that the guy in my example was a standout. I’d bucket him as “exceptional” for sure. But it wasn’t an immigration status thing. He was just coincidentally really good. For the most part, though, they’ve been average. I’m not knocking “average”. Average has gotten the job done. I’ve been satisfied/pleased most of the time. But if we’d had to pay them the added 50%+ ish, virtually none of them would even be here. That’s why I say it’s the money. It’s not the skills. They’re not bringing exceptional skills as a standard. Having said all that, I do think that there is a shrinking of the skilled labor in the space among Americans. But that’s mostly because Americans have begun teaching our kids that college is a “scam”.
Guilty as charged! I used to be like Kiran, thinking that my Black brothers and sisters were always exagerating about racism and crying wolf. I am Dominican, and when I first arrived to the U.S. I never felt like I was being discriminated against or made to feel inferior. Granted, I was living in New Jersey, in predominatly Black and Latino city. It wasnt until I moved to Southern Illinois that I started to see it. I live in a college town, used to the diversity that the university attracts. But, when you go out to the other, predominatly white towns, in the area, it is very obvious. My worst experience was when I graduated with my teaching degree, and got a job teaching Spanish at the school district in one of those towns. The children were great, it was the adults that made me feel like I was nothing. One of the paraprofessionals (teacher aides), would lower her head and stare at the ground when she saw me coming, just so she would not have to say 'hi' to me. I have lived it, and now I know it exists. But I was just as clueless as Kiran, and I am grateful for the lesson. Now I kow better, but still have to deal with a lot of racism at work. Not directed at me specifically, but at my Latino and Muslim colleagues and families.

Maybe they should make an effort to...fit in better.
At this point when you’re missing so many clues; you just don’t want to look for them
She didn’t think they applied to her!
This is the same thing with Filipino MAGA voters who always brag about how America is better than the Philippines and how their lives are better than everyone elses.
It made me remember of this saying that I've heard since childhood:
"If it was a snake, it would've bitten you by now."
They refused to look at the truth even when it's right in front of them.
She lost me, when she said the babysitter is her friend. No ma'am she is your employee and needs her paycheck.
She was in school eight years ago, she can't be older than 25. The "years-long babysitter" must have been her parents' employee when she was a child.
And they wonder why there’s so much vitriol and no one really racing to their defense…besides themselves.
NOW it's raw bigotry.😂

That leopard pic is so adorable.
I like how she's continuously stating that liberals are perceiving things as racism, suspect racism, or believe there's racism from the right. Even after she was smacked in the face with their racism she uses the same terminology.
Cognitive dissidence at its finest. She's seen the evidence that it's true, and she still can't phrase it like it's blatant reality. She does admit that there is an issue, but I don't think she can cope with the reality that it's always been there, and it's widespread. It's like she's compartmentalizing the evidence as a fringe occurrence.
She's angry that liberals were right and she can't bring herself to say she was wrong/worry.
@beardpapa12 that would definitely feed into the cognitive dissidence.

I can’t believe she put that in writing under her own name featuring a picture of herself. That’s the kind of thing you couldn’t water board out of me.
😂😂
What blows my mind is that these kinds of people - the kind that dont mind racism unless/until it directly affects them - they get mad at people who call out racism even if they’re not personally affected by it. Like they can’t wrap their minds around someone unaffected by an issue fighting against that issue.
Patrick Ben David comes to mind. The leopards are feasting on his face and xss.

I don't feel sorry for her. At first she was too young and inexperienced to speak on matters she knew nothing about it. Now she only has an issue because she is being othered. It's almost like bigots group all of them together together 🙄
This! No sympathy. At all. She and her ilk can ALL feel it.
Look, I'm farther left than everyone I know personally. I got to my conclusions by learning about history and feminism (specifically womanism and intersectionalities between class and gender) and I have to ask: why do these people think we are fighting so hard? Was there no intellectual curiosity? Not once do people ask "huh, why are these people marching and fighting so hard?"
It's the lack of curiosity and empathy that consistently bothers me.
They are on the top of the caste system where they are. They are taught they are genetically superior to everyone including their own people and Americans. If you are the best and smartest you never see a reason to listen to advice.
No critical thinking whatsoever. Just the cult of empiricism and fact collecting. No interest in what any of it means.
Why? Do you not understand that they see themselves as White Americans?
I guess they think we're fighting against them and not for them.
If there is one group that idgaf about how they're feeling/saying it's this one. These people are so wildly racist, it's astounding .

Love everybody, but dont disrespect black Americans experience as if you know America better than we do....cause your finding out quickly that you don't
Nobody knows America like we do!
Facts 🔥🔥🔥but they don’t like Black America✨🖤
Yup and black americans were the ones who fought for the civil rights for all minorities and to allow immigrants from non-european countries (only ppl from Europe were allowed to immigrants to the USA back then). Without the legislations passed because of african americans, most of the non-white immigrants would've never been allowed into America and enjoy equality.
The blame Black people for the situation we are in.
Thank you
Exactly! Indians vote blue, always. These people cherry pick examples to promote hate.
Thank you! Love you, boo.
You still have white people coming to your house? Smh you still havent learned.
Exactly, these people cherry pick examples to promote hate. Indians are always treated poorly by blacks and whites. Because they see our hard work and know that they cannot match it.
So she thought she was special...
They are about to find that there is a caste system in Amerikkka and they are not at the top. I will enjoy the show.
MAGA Indian-Americans are learning. Don't forget that the majority of the community votes (and continued to vote) Democrat. So they've always known.
The Indian Americans I've known and worked with have all been openly anti black. They are free with it around white people like me.

Interesting that the only people that believe in the American dream are living it the rest of us are living in reality.
Yup, the American Dream died quite a number of years ago. Pretty much finalized under Reagan.

Yeah?
It's really sad when they find out too late.
Nobody Cares
I hope you're doing better today!
