- All the way on his motorbike from the north of the Netherlands to Poland. My dad is so happy to be here in Kraków with me. I show him around the city, let him try Polish food and drinks. And of course we do some trips on the motorbike! Poland by motorbike :)

I came across your older clip, and boy how glad I am that I did! I used to ride with my Dad on his motorcycle when I was a young kid. Best memories: he would go slowly so I could see everything around going on our way to see Babcia on those beautiful summer days. I miss him dearly; he has passed away, but the good memories are still with me. Glad you are making such glorious memories with your Dad as well.

I thought dad came just for a moment to see if his daughter was doing well in a foreign country, if there were any unsuitable boys hanging around, etc., 😂and here it turns out that he arranged a nice vacation. Great! Let him enjoy, let him have fun!

I've been driving around Poland lately. Beautiful everywhere. It's hard to believe when you remember what Poland looked like 30 years ago.

Krościenko i Szczawnica to to moje ukochane miejscowości; zajmują w mym sercu miejsce zaraz za Krakowem.
Czy jest coś bardziej cudownego niż góry? Chyba tylko góry nad morzem, ale to już niestety nie w naszym kraju.

It is impossible to show everything in such a short time, but I think dad was happy with what he saw and the views from the bike were nice. 🏔🚲

@@thewritingtraveler I think he will probably move to Poland too, as Polish beers are better than Dutch ones.. 😁 (in my humble opinion). But for a really good beer you should go to Czechia and try a draft beer (točené pivo) in some retaurant or beer pub - the best beer I have ever drunk. 🍺🍺🍺

BTW Roughly in this area, in the village of Dębno Podhalańskie, there is a world-class (UNESCO-listed) historical rarity: a Gothic church made entirely of wood, built without nails in the 15th century. There you can also see the polychrome painted on wood, the oldest in Europe (!).
Also a small treasure: a mysterious glockenspiel from the 15th century, in which small tiles play low notes and large ones play highs. Alien technology! 😜

I can proudly say that I have seen that very special church with my own eyes when I did the cycling trip from Nowy Targ to Szczawnica last october! Soooo beautiful 😍

Zakopane is an amazing place, I was there 20 years ago and it was already my favorite place. I stayed in one of the big white villas with super slanted roof, the house was huge, and it had 4 or 5 levels. At the top level you had to take a wooden spiral staircase, it was super cozy up there.
That sounds so awesome!!! Definetly something i also want to experience one day 😊
Wonderful drive from Zakopane to Szczawnica. 🙂 Again, awesome experience to see many familiar places from the perspective of a motorbike passenger.
Very smooth and careful driving by your dad. Very prudent of him to have a day of rest prior to the journey back to the Netherlands. 👍 I am sure there will be plenty of opportunities for him to come back to Poland, do many more beautiful trips and spend more time with you 🙂
Show your dad some of your most favourite cool places in Kraków over and above those he had already seen in the past days, and take him to a good dinner - he definitely deserved it! 🍲🍗🥂😉

Szczawnica is my favourite place. You should hike Sokolica next to Trzy Korony!
This was again lovely, Nynke! Tatra and Pieniny are my two favorite mountain ranges in the world. And you are so right about the wonderful smell of the forest. I dont know what it is that makes it so extra special. Probably the type of trees and other vegetation and the specific microclimate. I live next to the mountains in the southern US and it's just not the same. Maybe it's just too hot and humid down here.
I totally understand that you felt rushed. It's not the same admiring things from afar and not getting to actually do any hiking. Of course, it would be wonderful to show the beautiful Szczawnica and Pieniny to your dad, but then I understand his need to rest, too. Hopefully you two will have more time next time!
Btw, you can keep going past Szczawnica to a small village of Jaworki and do a wonderful hike called Wąwóz Homole. A super picturesque small canyon. Also, Tzy Korony is great. I think I like Sokolica Mountain even better.
And while you are in Szczawnica go to the old spa area of town.
Finally, there is an annual event called Redyk (I think October 15 this year, but you can check locally. I'm sure someone in Krakow knows better.)
It's when the shepherds relocate their sheep from the higher mountains (Tatras) to the lower mountains (Pieniny) before winter. This event has been turned into a festival and it's a beautiful site with a sea of cute white sheep, and the sound of their bells to enjoy.

I’m in the PNW and the smell of the forests here remind me so much of Poland.
@@annabanana5057 ha, ha. We live so far apart. I've been to Seattle a couple of times and the Mt. Rainier area definitely gave me more of that Polish vibe/smell than the southern tip of the Appalachian trail over here.
Also, I found a bunch of wild flowers up in Maine on my trip there this past summer. I remember those flowers from my childhood in Poland. Can't remember their name in Polish, but they are pretty much weed... some purple and some white flowers. My friends and I used to make flower crowns using those flowers when I was a little girl growing up in a Poland.

I've driven this area many times too. It's a pitty you didn't have good distant visibility. In many places on your way, should be visible beautiful panorama of tatra mountains, and there was nothing 😐
Yeah I know right?? I've done that drive with my Polish mommy in May 2021 and the mountains looked stunning indeed. Luckily there were other views as well which we enjoyed a lot 😊

I was not Impressed with the views in Poland to be Honest.
Compared to places like Wales and Scotland in the U.K
But i know the Polish are Good people and are liked around the World
