You just have to love Delroy Wilson. This is simply a display of raw and natural talent, I just love his phrasing, his timing, his improvisation and his vibe. In a word brilliant.
I really like this lover's rock version. I thought I just bought it on the Grensleeves label.....🙄.....Wrong! This is WICKED! I've actually never heard this before and I just turned 60. Where have I been?!!!! 🙂
one of the iconic songs....just the shot in the studio, the music, and what a voice........ a true Jamaican legend.... we have to do some self searching and see that the garbage we're putting out there now is not up to standard...........
I totally agree this wonderful sound that hit me when I was fourteen and just danced to because I found the groove and never leaves your core roots which is the soul, infectious and forever my number one music, when it hits you just got to fall.
I have been saying that since the 90s when music has watered-down to nothing and it's all genres, from gospel music straight down to R&B. Now. It's totally gone!!
Am dancing to D W since I was 16 in a open bamboo lawn till sun broke sky n now am 71 n can't stop dancing to his music so me say di king D W larger Dan di rest my star⭐🕺❣💯🎵🎶🎼🕺
Amazing Delroy ! I would love also to see the whole documentary. That history about "quadrille" sounds so interesting . Thanks a lot for uploading that video
Love my people. They did the best with what they had. Some of the bes t music came out of those studios. Reggae for life. Bless up to all Jamaican entertainers.
legend has it that he recorded this tune in one take.............but to me he's Jamaica's greatest vocalist...........just pure class.............his voice can never be imitated
I agree he was a one of a kind singer. If you know Jamaican music, each singer has their unique sound. If I say Gregory Issacs, I-Roy, Joe Hill, Big Youth, King Stitt, you would recognize them in almost any of their recordings. I been into Jamaican music since 1976. Seen all the changes. Just like people who followed Dylan. Time changes everything. In the 90s the fast and rough djs changed reggae forever. Like Ninjaman and Tiger etc many more. They laid the foundation for today's reggae artist. Just like Delroy Wilson set up the 70s and 80s reggae styles

Good music comes from the soul, a reflection of the singer's emotional depth and interpretative abilities. Give me the passion and funk of this song over any music being created today, pure and sublime, an elevation of mood and spirits!
That's why I love Reggae Music, if it's Roots, Rock, militant, lovers or Dub, all you want to do is get up and dance, let the bass get in your body, An Oldish Rasta at a carnival in the Dub tent said to me light your reefer, close your eyes and let the bass take over your body and when the track has played a few minutes open your eyes and you will be dancing and you won't know

Eita que pedrada!!! Ouvindo pela primeira vez
Ya'll see the egg boxes on the walls in the that mic booth?? Classic!
why was it there?
Probably to do with the soundwaves within the room and the effect it can have on recordings...
they act as acoustic isolation, preventing sound to reflect all over the room.
Howie Tee trust me pal that's the old way of sound proofing a studio working on a budget lol works great tho
Dwayne Dunlop used to use 4 pry cup holders from McDonald's
