Good morning Jay! I have a question, if you'll oblige me. Nick Young appeared in a Desert Tech video discussing the development of his silencer for the PSR program, and the affect on accuracy the silencer has. I found it very informative. He went over gas dispersion out of the barrel, barrel harmonics vis-à-vis silencer mounting stability, and thermal stability. I unfortunately have yet to listen to the entirety of your podcasts, but I was wondering if any silencers you have tested qualitatively exhibited any of these behaviors, or in quantitative accuracy data from the range. God bless.

Good Morning, sir! All silencers influence barrel harmonics, gas dispersion, projectile dispersion, and heat transfer in the system. The goal of any weapon system designer should be to have all components work together to influence that path of the projectile "less" - just putting a silencer onto a firearm doesn't necessarily mean it will be well matched. There are rifle silencer designs that influence certain weapon functions less, and those are often used for precision applications. By significantly reducing mass, ensuring symmetry/concentricity both mechanically and in gas dynamics, a lot of precision rifle silencers achieve that goal. But, the whole thing is a system. Even a small issue with the weapon system can ruin it - a bad apple spoils the bunch.

Get a JC Higgins Model 85 for dwellish slide velocity.
