    The best reason of firing now is because it shows there’s a vacancy to other coaches and they don’t sign extensions elsewhere

    As a rival Raider fan I explained the feeling Chargers fans must have to my wife. It felt too relatable. I told her “nobody wants to lose but if this was the game to end the coaches run then it really doesn’t even feel like a loss.” Im in San Diego so a lot of my peeps thought I was calling to gloat today but our conversation’s were more relatable than not. Having a new chapter present itself can be exciting, refreshing and a little anxious but it’s better than knowing the guy leading your team isn’t the right guy. May this rivalry resume with better play next year. RN4L 🏴‍☠️☠️🏴‍☠️

    The timing is justified because the Spanos were embarrassed by the raider game and they could not have Staley coach another game. This firing was meant to send a message to the league, which sees the Spanos and this organization as a joke, that this performance is unacceptable. As for draft stock and tanking, that's something that mostly fans are more concerned about.

      By that logic, Spanos should’ve fired him after the wild card last year.

    • @ricardosotosan2279
      @ricardosotosan2279 11 місяців тому +1

      @@spiderfan324 the reason the chargers didn't fire Staley after Jacksonville is because they saw the chargers even making it to the playoffs as an improvement over the past years. However, because the jax game was also a disaster, Staley was on a hot seat from the onset of this season. The way this season went, it was a total regression from last year and after the raiders game, the Spanos had no choice.

    I think a crucial part to all of this, is the fact that the Chargers did not give the interim head coaching job to Kellen Moore. That tells me that confirms to all of us that they do not think Kellen Moore can be a head coach for this team. And that’s an awesome fact that they are acknowledging. Kellen Moore’s offense has been nothing but terrible, he can be creative at times, but he can also be a dumbass all in the same game. The Cowboys fans warned us, his situational playcalling is abysmal. As far as JoJo wooden goes, this is nothing more than a way for him to pump up his résumé. No, he will not be this teams, general manager after the season. If the Chargers, if Dean Spanos, is serious about winning they need to hire externally. You need to look at guys like Mike Borgonzi of the Chiefs, Alec Halaby of the Eagles, Adam peters of the 49ers, even people from the Steelers and ravens. If they really want to create a new vision, if they really want to erase themselves from the circus. This has been they need to look elsewhere.

    I think Josh is completely wrong. This move was not made to win games, this move was made to get ahead of other teams, who will also be hiring new GM’s and head coaches. I get it we all want Brandon, Staley, and Tom Telesco to be fired after the Jacksonville loss. I think you all are quite under selling this move. I get it we all hate Dean Spanos, but the fact that they actually did something different for once in their lives, has to mean something. We all assume they wouldn’t fire anybody until after the season ended, but they were bold enough to fire not only Staley but also general manager, Tom Telesco in the same day. The timing of this is not something we should be arguing about. If you guys analyze the quote that Dean Spanos released, it is clear he wants to try something different than what the charges have been doing for the last 20 to 30 years. He talks about starting a new vision, he talked about how the fans have earned and deserve a successful football team. Dean also talks about how they need to reimagine the way they’ve been going about hiring coaches. To me this means that they are ready to let go of power and find somebody to do the football things. Hopefully this means hiring Jim Harbaugh. I love the show I love everything you guys discuss, but I think being mad about the timing of this is not something we should be mad about. Had the Chargers fired those two after the Jags loss, who would they have hired? if anything, I think the chargers are in a much better position now, to find a successful general manager and head coach duo.
