- Figma has released the latest updated with the new Instance Swap Menu that allows you to:
- Swap components more easily using a new push style menu
- Switch between Libraries with a drop-down selector
- Toggle between list and grid view
- Preview components with thumbnails
In this short guide you will have a preview on how the feature works and how to use it in your design process.

Is this an alternative to creating variants?
Correct. 👋 The video was done right after Figma feature launch. Check my latest video on how to build variants and use this menu in a better way.
That was the longest Quick Guide i've watched so far. Lack of skills and key shortcuts, Variants are better with Instance Swap Properties )
Thanks for your feedback dude. Figma has definitely evolved since I have published this. This video si about Instance Swap and not everyone watching this video knows shortcuts, if you’d like to learn about variants there’s a more recent video on this channel specific for that. ✌️
Hey thanks for the quick guide! Here's a tip for you to quickly create multiple components. Click and drag to select all the items that you want to turn into components, go to the top Menu under Components > Create Multiple Components :)
You’re welcome! Thanks for that too
Great tutorial thanks! Clear, simple, and to the point
Thank you
thanks
Why can't we use variant option for the Button set?
Hey thank you for sharing this. Can you please share a video on how to add more options in to your instance like show/hide label or icon through radio buttons. I just saw a library where I get to not only switch through the main components but also show/hide the elements on an individual component.
Hi Muhammad! Thanks for your feedback! Let's do this next :) Make sure you're subscribed, video's coming up soon.
Video is up! I hope it's what you're looking for :) ua-cam.com/video/uUgnFs7auwg/v-deo.html
I though it was Nick Jonas, very helpful btw!
Haha, some people told me that before lol 😆
I’m glad that you found it helpful
Fain!
Multumesc! :)
I have a question, this option doesn't appear on my FIGMA version even after updating it, should I upgrade or something? You're content is very useful and you're cute. Have a nice day.
Hi Ana! I'm happy to hear this was helpful for you! I tried this once again now in Figma on my browser and it works. Few things to keep in mind:
1. I placed all my icons (at least for this to work) on a separate frame called 'Icons' (doesn't matter the name)
2. I press Right-Click > 'Create Component' on each icon.
3. After I do the above I copy one on a separate frame, where I want to swap it.
After that you should see on the right sidebar, under 'Frame' section, a rhombus with the icon name. If you press on that, it should display the available selections.
@@uxdanio THIS IS SUPER HELPFULL, Thank you for taking the time to answer back.
